Lucas absolutely didn't want Imani to fight with him but it seemed like that was where this was headed. "It's with me," he said.
"Can I have it back?" she replied without hesitation as she stretched her hand out. She didn't look angry but he knew she was and he couldn't help but remember that everything had been more than alright between them this morning.
"Can we talk about this when I get back, please?" he asked, emphasizing the 'please', and she withdrew her hand before crossing her arms over her chest as she scrunched up her face.
"You could give it to me now and we'll talk when you get back."
"Imani," he stated in a very firm voice and she raised her brows at him. He let out a sigh as he scratched the back of his neck and walked over to her. He tucked her hair behind her ear, his fingers lingering on her face, and she kept her stoic expression on even though her skin was tingling.
