On the training ground outside Konoha Village, Kirito stood surrounded by the remnants of shattered kunai, frozen into glistening shards of ice. With a deep breath, he lowered his fist, calming the chakra flowing through his body.
Looking at the frost-covered training ground, TenTen shivered and exhaled loudly. "Finally! I'm freezing out here."
"Sorry about that," Kirito said sheepishly. "But why don't you wear something warmer?"
"It's summer! Do you expect me to wear layers and look ridiculous? Besides, thick clothes restrict movement," TenTen replied, exasperated.
Kirito nodded thoughtfully. "Fair point. Want to grab some ramen? My treat, as thanks for helping with my training."
"I won't say no to free food!"
At Ichiraku Ramen, the pair settled at the counter. As they waited for their orders, TenTen leaned forward curiously. "So, did you resolve that matter with Karin?"
"Yes," Kirito replied. "The Third Hokage approved her stay in Konoha. She completed the paperwork two days ago. She's officially part of the village now."
"That's great to hear," TenTen said with a smile. "What's she doing now?"
"She wants to familiarize herself with Konoha by studying its history and rules through textbooks. After that, she plans to start training at the hospital. She's officially a ninja, so she's qualified."
As their bowls of ramen arrived, TenTen broke her chopsticks and asked, "What's next for you now that your training is complete?"
Kirito took a bite before answering. "Illusion techniques. I want to modify the activation method for my genjutsu."
"Genjutsu? You're working on illusions now?"
"Yeah. I already know one, but it currently requires activating my Byakugan, which is impractical for everyday use. I need a simpler activation method."
TenTen raised an eyebrow. "Don't tell me you're planning to test it on me."
Kirito smirked. "Partially correct. I'll also ask Lee to help. His movements are limited right now, but he can still contribute."
The next morning, Kirito and TenTen visited Rock Lee at Konoha Hospital. They found him in the courtyard, sweat pouring down as he did push-ups using only his legs.
"119, 120, 121…" Lee counted breathlessly.
TenTen threw up her hands in frustration. "Lee, why can't you just rest? You'll make your injuries worse!"
Lee paused briefly, grinning. "My youth will not stop! If I continue training, I'll be ready to return to action once Lady Tsunade heals me!"
Kirito sighed. He'd already told Lee that Tsunade could heal his injuries, but instead of resting, Lee had doubled his efforts, determined to maintain his physical conditioning.
They moved to Lee's ward to begin the genjutsu practice. Kirito explained the setup: a clock would track the time, and if Lee or TenTen failed to react within a certain period, they'd be considered trapped in the illusion. The goal was to give Kirito a measure of success while helping them build resistance to genjutsu.
"Alright, Lee, look into my eyes," Kirito instructed.
Lee stared into Kirito's pale white eyes, feeling skeptical. "Can the Byakugan even cast genjutsu?" he thought, prepared to break free at the first sign of anything unusual.
But a minute passed. Then two. Lee blinked, confused.
"I didn't fall into the illusion," he said confidently.
Kirito nodded. "As expected. Let's try again."
This time, Kirito adjusted his chakra output, focusing on replicating the feeling of activating his Rinnegan while still using his Byakugan. He directed the chakra toward Lee's gaze, refining the release method.
Time passed, and Lee suddenly jolted awake, his face pale. "What happened?" he asked, looking around in confusion.
"You fell into the illusion," TenTen said, arms crossed. "I had to yell your name for ten minutes to snap you out of it."
Lee frowned, rubbing his head. "I don't remember anything… It felt like I was distracted for a second, and then… nothing."
"That's what makes this genjutsu unique," Kirito explained, returning to the room with food he'd fetched while Lee recovered. "It's called 'Wandering Spirit.' Unlike typical illusions that create vivid, surreal scenarios, this one manipulates your perception of time, making you feel as if no time has passed at all. Unless someone disrupts it, you could remain trapped indefinitely."
As they ate together in the hospital cafeteria, Kirito continued. "The genjutsu is designed to use minimal chakra disruption, so it's harder to notice. The victim often doesn't even realize they're under its influence. In your case, Lee, it's not your distraction—it's the genjutsu subtly guiding your thoughts away from reality."
TenTen tapped her chin thoughtfully. "So, it's basically a trap for anyone smart enough to overthink, right?"
"Exactly," Kirito replied. "The simpler someone's thought process, the easier it is to break free. For someone who's analytical or overcautious, the effect is far more potent."
Lee's eyes burned with determination. "I see. If I'm going to overcome illusions like this, I need to train harder!"
TenTen sighed. "Lee, maybe calm down before you hurt yourself again."
As the evening wore on, Kirito's thoughts drifted to future possibilities. [The success of this illusion brings me one step closer to mastering yin energy. If I can refine this technique further… who knows? Maybe I can create my own version of Susanoo using chakra and yin energy alone.]
Lost in thought, Kirito's eyes gleamed with excitement, earning a worried glance from TenTen.
"Why do I feel like he's planning something ridiculous?" she muttered.
Lee grinned, looking at his own fist. "If it's anything like Teacher Guy's enthusiasm, it'll probably involve hard work and youth!"
TenTen facepalmed as Lee raised his fist dramatically, ready to declare another round of training.
