The stadium spectators were buzzing with excitement. Princess Azula had to fight in Agni Kai against twelve opponents. Such a task had never been done before, but everyone was confident that Azula could handle it because she was a fire-bending prodigy. The princess herself was completely focused on this. Those who challenged her were crushed to dust. She didn't need security, and she was going to prove it.
The gong sounded, signaling the start. Azula rose from her knees and turned to face her opponents. Eleven of them wore skull-like Firebender helmets and, judging by their armor, were officers. But the twelfth was just a soldier, and not even a Firebender, judging by his conical helmet. Once she finished analyzing them, she took her position. Her eleven opponents took this as a sign to attack.
It took a combination of cunning maneuvering and exceptional firebending, but Azula defeated them. When they were defeated, she turned her attention to the latter. His form was perfect, and his control was precise. But no matter what she did, he always managed to avoid her attacks. She launched fireball after fireball at him, trying to burn him to the ground. But all he did was get out of the way.
After a few more minutes, Azula looked at her opponent.
"Are you just going to stand there, or are you going to try and fight me?" She asked angrily. He looked at her for a moment, and Azula thought he looked a little familiar.
While she was distracted by this thought, he came closer. Every time Azula tried to use fire magic in close combat, her opponent would block the attacking limb. No matter what she did, she could not penetrate his defenses. Azula understood why he didn't attack with the others. He watched how she fought and where her weak points were. He knew how to fight her and, more importantly, how to block her blows.
This angered her, causing her to fight even harder. But the more she struggled, the more tired she began to feel. Her breathing, which she had perfectly controlled, became irregular. Then he attacked, knocking her out from under her, causing her to fall and hit the tiles. He knelt down with his knee pressed against her stomach, held the knife to her throat, and grabbed her wrists with his other hand. It was all over; she had lost.
After a few seconds, he pulled out the knife and released her wrists, allowing Azula to rise to her feet. As much as she wanted to attack, she knew she couldn't do it because everyone was looking at her. The Fire Lord landed in the stadium and approached them.
Well done, soldier. "You defeated my daughter, a prodigy of fire magic, although you yourself are not yet a magician," he praised the soldier. Azula, thanks to his victory over you, this soldier is now your personal bodyguard. He will protect you with his life. Show yourself to your princess," Ozai ordered the soldier.
He reached for his helmet and took it off. Azula's eyes widened, and she stared at him.
- You...
(Location: Northern Water Tribe)
RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! was a common phrase shouted by the Fire Nation soldiers as they ran back to their ships. They were trying to escape from a giant fish-like monster that the Avatar created from the water. As they retreated, they saw a man in a black cloak with his hood raised. If they had taken the time to stop and look, they would have realized who it was. But they were more focused on saving their lives. The man in the cloak didn't care that they didn't notice him. He walked past them, keeping his eyes on the monster.
As soon as he approached, the monster noticed him. It raised its hand to either wave it off or drown it. He stood up, moved his arms, and took out his jian. He swung his sword once, and the monster's arm simply fell off. He staggered back as he sheathed his jacket. He had a chance to continue the attack. But before he did anything, he felt a familiar presence next to him and fell silent.
LA! - a disembodied voice rang out, attracting the monster's attention. What do you think you are doing?! - The people of the Water Tribe looked in fear at the voice that continued. DID YOU FORGET THAT TUI WAS SUPPOSED TO PROTECT? YOU HAD TO MAKE SURE THAT SHE DIDN'T DIED; YOU ARE HER GUARDIAN. NOW SHE IS DEAD AND YOU ARE HERE TRYING TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY WHEN YOU SHOULD BE OUT THERE TRYING TO FIND A WAY TO RESTORE THE BALANCE! YOU WILL GET YOUR WATER ASS BACK TO THE OASIS RIGHT NOW! I'll clean up here. NOW GO! The voice growled at the giant monster. As soon as his words sank in, the cloaked man quickly moved on to his next target.
As Zuko and Zhao fought each other, they saw the giant monster suddenly melt and retreat back into the oasis.
What's happening? - Zuko asked in surprise. His pause allowed Zhao to punch him in the chest, knocking him to the ground.
"My troops successfully destroyed this thing," Zhao declared triumphantly, towering over his opponent. Soon they will completely destroy the Water Tribe, and my name will be remembered forever! But although he seemed confident in his victory, this caused him to laugh contemptuously.
They both turned around to see a man in a cloak leaning against the doorway.
"How wrong you are, Zhao," he said. For now, the Fire Nation ships are returning to safe waters. The invasion failed. Your name will be forgotten, Zhao. And your life is lost. Zhao's face turned deathly white; he turned pale with fear. He ran away, rushing past Zuko. "I love it when they run," the man in the cloak said with a smile, walking away after him, leaving a perplexed Zuko behind.
