Kapitel 18: Chapter 18
The citizens of Earthrealm slowly approached the front gate, scaring the guards. Some actually came out on stage foaming at the mouth or falling to the ground.
Finally, one of the guards shouted:
- Plague! PLAGUE! - after which he stepped back, and another guard raised the alarm.
Meanwhile, in the governor's mansion, on one of the balconies, the governor, as well as his wife, son and May stood and watched what was happening.
- What is happening there? - asked the governor.
"I saw children yesterday who were sick with Pentapox," explained a guard standing nearby. - It must have spread!
"Pentapox... I'm sure I've heard of it," he mused.
- Oh, this is terrible! - his wife exclaimed in horror.
- What should we do? - asked the guard.
- Drive them out of the city, but don't touch them! We must rid the city of this disease! - the ruler ordered. The guard bowed and left to do his job.
- Fire flakes, dad? - May asked, holding out the bowl. The governor simply looked at her from the corner of his eye.
- Oh, what a horror! - May's mother said, hugging her husband. No one noticed that the baby ran away from them.
Meanwhile, in another part of the city, Aang tried to find Bumi to no avail. But he got lucky when he found Flopsy, Bumi the gorilla's pet goat. Being a kind and caring boy, he immediately freed Flopsy and used him to look for Bumi again.
(Location: Fire Nation Circus)
The night performance at the circus has just begun. It was a special show because Azula decided to attend. She sat in the main seat, and Naruto sat slightly to the side.
"It is a great honor for us to see the daughter of the Lord of Fire in our modest circus," the circus owner loudly announced. - Please tell me if there is anything we can do to make the show more enjoyable.
Azula started to say something but saw a warning in Naruto's eyes.
"There's no need for that," she finally said. Naruto and Azula watched the performers perform. Soon it was Ty Lee's turn to speak.
- Unbelievable, do you think she will fall? - she asked the circus master while her friend performed her act on the rope.
"Of course not," he replied, confident in Ty Lee. She's never fallen before, why shouldn't she start doing it now?
"Don't even think about it, Azula," Naruto whispered.
- I didn't mean to! - she whispered back. She made a promise and she was going to keep it.
At this point everything went wrong. Suddenly, all the animals that were in the circus somehow broke free and rushed into the main tent.
- Ladies and gentlemen, we present to you: Pandemonium! - Kyuubi said majestically, watching with his jinchuuriki as the circus animals ran amok on the floor.
"Oh shut up, now is not the time for this," Naruto said quietly to the fox as he stood up.
"Killing joy," muttered the fox.
- What's happening?! - demanded the circus owner.
- I don't know, sir. "Somehow the animals got out of the cages," one of the circus workers told him.
- I see! We must get this under control immediately! "Everyone rushed to contain the situation, but the animals could not be stopped. While Ty Lee was still in the air in the middle of her act, the animals were rampaging below. But then a sharp whistle sounded and they stopped.
Everyone looked at the animals in confusion except for one person, and that person was the one the animals looked at with fear in their eyes. Everyone else began to feel some kind of pressure pressing down on them, as if it was almost suffocating them.
"That's enough," Naruto told them, his voice becoming rougher and turning into a growl as he sank to the floor.
Azula watched as her bodyguard approached the ring, and for a moment she could have sworn she saw the head of a large fox growling behind him. As Naruto got closer to the animals, they began to shake in fear. While he stood and looked at the animals, no one knew what he was going to do. Then he simply raised his hand and pointed his finger towards the entrance from where they came.
"Move," he ordered them. They quickly obeyed.
After the animals left, in what could almost be called an organized stampede, the pressure disappeared.
- What did you do? - asked the circus owner with awe in his eyes, but with fear in his voice.
Naruto turned to face him.
"I just showed them who the alpha is here," he explained simply. He looked at Ty Lee and said, "You can come down now!"
(Location: resistance camp)
Aang and Flopsy entered the camp and saw Katara and Sokka approach them along with Kurenai. Inside the camp, many warriors sharpened weapons and collected arrows while sitting in front of a small fire. In another part of the camp, several Earth Kingdom officers were teaching resistance fighters who were not officially part of the main Earth Kingdom army how to fight in an organized manner. Some recruits who were benders were instructed on how to properly use their chosen weapon.
"We looked everywhere, but there was no Bumi," Aang told them. Seeing that he was sad, Katara hugged him.
Sokka was hesitant to tell Aang the truth, but he did anyway.
- Well, what did you expect? Did you really think you could find Bumi? He is the King of Omashu and also a powerful Earthbender. They are not going to keep him captive in the open air!
- Stop it, Sokka! Katara snapped, a frown on her face.
"I'm just stating the facts, and you both know it," he replied, frowning in response.
"Your brother is right," Kurenai said to Katara, and then turned to face Aang. "What you did was reckless and stupid." You could have been captured while you were looking for your friend. How would that help him?
- The first time you didn't mind! - Katara protested.
"Only because he would go there not alone, but with the two of you to help him," she answered, keeping her voice calm.
Before Katara could protest again, Aang admitted the truth.
- Kurenai is right, Katara. I put myself in danger when I searched for Bumi alone. It was a bad mistake. His sad tone made Katara hug him again. Hearing Flopsy whimper, Sokka turned and hugged the sad goat gorilla as well.
"We have a problem," said the leader of the resistance, approaching them. - We just counted the people.
- Oh no, is there really someone left behind? - Katara asked worriedly.
- No, we have one extra. - The leader pointed to Momo, who was desperately trying to escape from the baby in Fire Nation clothing hanging around his neck.
(Location: Omashu)
On the balcony of the governor's mansion, the governor's wife was sobbing in a chair, May standing next to her. Watching her mother cry, May took out a handkerchief to let her wipe her tears and blow her nose.
"So... the resistance kidnapped my son," the governor said, looking out over the city. - Everything is so smart, so cunning, just like their king Bumi.
- What do you want to do, sir? - asked one of the guards. The ruler only looked at him, and then looked again towards the mountains. He might regret it, but he knew how to get his son back.
