Chapter 40:
The Two Man Army
Sasuke felt his body twitch in anticipation as he sensed the strong chakra in the air. It was the same one that he had sensed back in that ambush during the last war. So it wasn't hard to tell who was the owner.
When they had first arrived in the port village, the Uchiha and the others had been subjected to the ominous sight of a dark chakra shooting up to the sky in a spiraling vortex. Sasuke had immediately recognized it as the Kyuubi's chakra, the same one that Naruto had used against him during their fight at the Valley of the End except a few times more potent. In other words, it was a very bad sign.
Almost as if reading his mind, Jiraiya and Sakumo had pushed the men even harder to get as many ships from around the area as possible. It didn't matter that none of them were war ships. They just needed transportation to get to Uzu so that they could help the crumbling Uzu defense fight back against her invaders.
But Sasuke could already tell from here that that was a lost cause. Danzo's plan had worked a little bit too perfectly. The bastard really did know how to plan ahead. The only way out of this mess for the remaining survivors of the Uzumaki clan was to get them out of Uzu and onto the mainland. And for that, they still needed transportation that they could provide. If they could come up with it.
Honestly, this was the only downside to their plan. They had to wait before they could be of any use because they couldn't get to the island. If they attempted to bring their force across by foot, then most of them would collapse. In all honesty, Sasuke could only see Jiraiya, Sakumo, and Tsunade making the trip. But Sasuke had already made sure to leave Tsunade behind with the recently created medical corps so that they could treat the wounded once they were brought in. That was where Tsunade's real talents shined, after all. And Sasuke would put those talents to use to the max.
"I know you have something in mind."
Sasuke didn't respond as Jiraiya walked up to stand next to him up on the hill overlooking the village. Sasuke could remember how he had stood in this same spot four years ago when he had first encountered Danzo's plot with Kiri through one of his spies. Back then, Sasuke should have found Danzo and killed that man. But instead, he had tiptoed around the issue, thinking it best to leaving things in the air to see if things would calm down.
'There's no use in thinking about that now,' the Uchiha thought to himself before he looked at Jiraiya through his Anbu mask. "At this rate, we won't be of any use to Uzu. It's taking even longer than we thought to gather the necessary transportation."
Jiraiya frowned. "That is true. But there's nothing that can be done about that. Unless you're saying that you have an alternative way of getting us there."
Sasuke smirked, not that Jiraiya could see it. "No. Not everyone. But I do have a way of getting myself over there pretty quick."
Jiraiya raised an eyebrow at this. "So…..you're thinking of handling all of this by yourself?"
Sasuke could already see that the man didn't particularly like that. He valued team play more than anything else. Sasuke could see where Naruto had gotten that from alright. The apprentice really did take after the master.
"Of course not," Sasuke said in response as he turned his attention back to Uzu. Even from here, Sasuke could make out the smoke. "You can feel it as well, can't you? This powerful chakra." As he said this, Sasuke dropped the genjutsu around himself, returning to his normal height and normal features.
Now there, Jiraiya did know what the Uchiha was talking about. It reminded the man of the chakra he had felt during the battle at sea of the last war where he had seen first hand the kind of power that Sasuke had at his disposal.
"What about it?"
Sasuke smiled as he took off his Anbu mask, his face expressing a look of anticipation. "He already knows that we're here. And he's expecting me. I'd better not disappoint him."
A look of realization appeared on Jiraiya's face as Sasuke handed him the Anbu mask. "Hold on to that for me until I return, will you?"
Looking down at the mask, the perverted jonin smirked before he looked back at Sasuke. "And what do you want us to do?"
"The idiot has some of kind of plan," Sasuke answered as he took a couple of steps forward, his eyes morphing into his Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan as well as his Rinnegan activating in his left eye. His Susanoo sprung into life around him, rising in size by the second. "Tell Sakumo to wait here in attack formation. If anything else, we'll have a lot of heat on our asses when we return. Also tell Tsunade to be ready to treat any wounded. We must hold this village in the likely event of a counterattack at all costs."
Sighing, Jiraiya couldn't help but shake his head. "You Uchiha are always eager to prove yourselves, eh? But get going already then. We won't let you down on this end. We promise you that."
Sasuke merely h'mphed as his perfect Susanoo came out into existence in completion. Due to its large size, it forced Jiraiya to jump back away from his spot lest he be squashed.
But Sasuke wasn't done. Focusing on his control over his Susanoo, Sasuke wielded two wings to spring into life on its back.
Seeing this, Jiraiya finally realized what the Uchiha was planning on doing. It was still nevertheless amazing to the man. Every time, Sasuke surprised him with another technique that he had up his sleeve.
'And according to him, Naruto is on the same level,' he thought to himself. He honestly couldn't wait to see what his supposed future apprentice could do.
Sasuke instantly took off to the night sky as he stood within his Susanoo with his arms crossed. His destination and goal were clear: to rendezvous with a certain whiskered idiot.
And to defeat an entire army.
Arashi, now dressed in his combat gear, looked at the map sprawled on his desk. In front of him was the next high rank shinobi that was accounted for. For unknown reasons, Kenji was still missing. But Arashi knew that he couldn't afford to wait for him without making any sort of concrete plans. If he did show up anyway. Arashi knew that there was a chance that Kenji was already gone. But he could dwell on such things later.
"Was the report accurate?"
The jonin in front of him nodded, his face full of anxiety. "Yes, sir. Somehow, the enemy also knew of our underground tunnels. The last we heard from our units, they were already positioned at all exists and in large numbers. Most of the civilians were cut down. Some managed to flee through the exists in the chaos while most of the survivors had to flee back into the village. And with that exit cut off and without our fleet to depend on, we are pretty much cornered, sir."
Arashi gritted his teeth in frustration at hearing this. But there was also fear mixed in there. He had sent his wife and daughter through the tunnels. The way the tunnel system was structured was that there was an access way underneath the residence of the village leader. For once, the man could only pray that Kaito had somehow been delayed before he had gotten Kushina to the tunnel entrance with Kazumi. Otherwise, Arashi knew that he really would lose it all.
"Don't worry, gramps. They're safe."
Arashi and the jonin both looked shocked as someone jumped through one of the windows, landing with ease in between them. Not only that, but the most striking thing was this person's, this boy's, appearance. If there was a word for it, Arashi would describe it as godly. But the clan head pushed those thoughts aside as he narrowed his eyes.
"It's you again…."
He knew this chakra already. There was only one person he had countered with the same feeling. That didn't mean that he wasn't surprised. It was just a child! But in his closer inspection of the boy's features, Arashi could see a stark resemblance to someone else he knew and was close to.
"Naruto…is that you?"
The blond chuckled as he rubbed the back of his head, the rods from before no longer in his hands. "Hehehe yeah. I guess I should have known that you would have recognized me even if I did look like this."
But this only raised more questions than answers in Arashi's mind. Not that he could voice any of them. He was too shocked at finding that his adoptive son might have been the one that had kept them safe all this time. Or that had sold them out, dooming them in the process.
Already sensing all the emotions running through his grandfather's mind, Naruto raised one of his hands up. "Now, I know that you have many questions for me, gramps. But believe me when I'm saying that I'm on your side. I mean no harm to any of you. You can ask me anything you want after we've gotten through this mess."
Arashi locked gazes with Naruto, the blond meeting his intense eyes with his own. Naruto could tell that his grandfather was seeing if he could really trust him or not. At this point, the clan head couldn't afford to make any more mistakes. Not with the lives of his clan on the line.
But Arashi could see the truth in the boy's eyes. He had a plan, and he was ready for action.
Smiling, he said, "Fine, boy. I will put my faith on you to get us out of this mess." It wasn't like he could place his hope in anything else now.
Smiling in return, Naruto replied, "Thanks, gramps. But we're not alone. Konoha sent an army of her own. They're waiting for us on the mainland."
Arashi raised an eyebrow at this. "How do you know that?"
"Senjutsu," was Naruto's immediate answer. "I'm able to pick up other's chakra quiet easily while I use it."
'But to such a range,' Arashi thought to himself, highly impressed. Naruto seemed to have a set of skills he hadn't been aware of. But then what he had said first came to Arashi's mind. "So then Kushina and Kazumi are-"
"I already sent a clone with a friend of mine," Naruto answered as he walked towards the desk, looking at the map sprawled out in front of him. "They're going to meet up with Kaito and the others there where she'll transport them to safety."
Naruto had known that, the moment the Sennin had told him that Miyuki was with him from this point forward, getting the rest of his clan out of the village was going to be easier than if she wasn't.
"Transport them, you say," Arashi repeated, a hand running through his beard. "And how can she accomplish this exactly?"
Naruto grinned. "I'm sure baa-chan will tell you about it once you meet her again."
Arashi found himself believing those words. Even though everything else told him otherwise, now that the blond was with him, Arashi truly believed that they were going to get out of this mess.
"I've already sent out clones throughout the village," Naruto continued. "Through my sensory skills, they've already been able to find and start guiding the survivors to our old house. From there, it's just a matter of her getting them out of the village and onto the mainland where Konoha is already waiting for us." It was at this point that Naruto turned to look at the still shocked jonin. "I suggest you and the rest of the shinobi in the building leave for the house as well before the main army arrives. It'll be impossible for you otherwise. And if you encounter any other survivors along the way, tell them about this so that they too may get to safety."
Looking at his clan head who nodded his head in agreement, the jonin did as he was told as he took off running to inform his fellow shinobi in the building about the great news. Things had finally looked up for them.
"So, I'm guessing that you can also sense the army that's heading straight for us," Arashi said as he turned to look at Naruto who was walking around the desk towards the window.
The jinchuriki's eyes expressed sorrow as he stopped in front of the window, looking at the village burning around him.
"Yeah. The Raikage is leading them. My only regret right now is that I wasn't able to come to in time in order to get everyone out of here."
Arashi already knew what he was talking about. "So, you sensed what happened underground…."
Naruto's hands clenched into fists. He had been able to sense the last part of the massacre after he had killed Danzo off. It only showed him just how well the bastard had planned all of this out.
"I still can't fathom how they were able to figure all of this out…."
"It was Danzo," Naruto stated, dropping the fist bomb on his grandfather. "He was able to rally Kumo, Iwa, and Kiri for this in order to take our clan out of the picture. But he was only able to solidify the plan after he got Aika-chan's dad's cooperation for this."
If anything, Arashi became even more shocked at the news. "But…..why? Why would Hiroshi do such a thing!?"
Naruto could only shake his head. "I'm not sure. I wasn't able to hear his motives. I can only guess that he had some sort of grudge against the village after we agreed to take part in the last war, resulting in the death of Aika-chan's mother."
Arashi could only look down at the floor, feeling as a failure of a leader for his entire village. How could he have not seen this? A lot of his clan members had become dissatisfied with him after the fiasco they had been through in the last war. But instead of fixating on it like he should have done, he had instead worried about keeping relations with Konoha, putting his fellow clan members at an arm's length. Even so, he had never expected for any of them to do anything like this. The Uzumaki clan had always valued family ties more than anything else. That was why Uzu had been a utopia to them. It only solidified that he truly was a failure if Hiroshi had decided that that wasn't worth it anymore.
"You're not a failure, gramps," Naruto stated, bringing his grandfather out of his thoughts. Through his current mode, Naruto could sense just what the man was feeling. And he wasn't about to let the man bring himself down like that. "Under the circumstances, you did the best that you could. I'm not saying Konoha is innocent in any of this either. But no one could have suspected any of this to have been brought to this incident. If anyone is to blame, it's Danzo. No, not even him. He was just another victim in the times that we live in. Under the system that we live in. The real problem is this current system that is in place. It only brings pain to shinobi, forcing us against one another even though we are more alike than any of us realize."
Arashi could only stare at the boy's back. He couldn't exactly place what he was feeling. But hearing the boy say such words…..Arashi had the feeling that he was looking at someone that would guide them all to even greater heights than before. If that even made any sense.
Shaking those thoughts away, Arashi walked forward so that he could stand next to the blond. "We can pity ourselves later. Like you said, we have to ensure that our clan lives to see another day. But we still have the major problem here: what are we going to do about the main force? Or are we just going to retreat?"
Looking at the village that stood before them, Naruto replied, "Uzu can be rebuilt. Even if we have to abandon it now, I promise you that one day, the clan will return here. And we will have even more prosperity than before."
Arashi smiled down at him. "Is that so? It's a big claim, my boy."
Naruto chuckled. "Once you learn the whole reason I'm here, you won't be saying that, gramps. I can assure you of that."
Arashi had the feeling that he would. But that could also be saved for later. "So then, are you telling me that you will take a whole army by yourself?"
Naruto shook his head, a smirk forcing itself on his face. The blond looked up towards the night sky. The bastard was almost here.
"Of course not. We will."
Kaito gritted his teeth in frustration as he carried a still unconscious Kushina on his back through the darkened streets. Just a few more blocks until he finally reached his destination.
Another wave of pain hit his body as he felt more blood dripping out of his wound.
After he had seen what that beast was about to do, Kaito had jumped down from the building and onto the street with Kushina in order to get some cover from the obvious powerful attack. But Kaito had still underestimated just how powerful it was. In the wake of the blast radius, Kushina had blacked out due to the intensity of all the events happening around her. Kaito hadn't been too surprised at this. Heck, he was surprised that it had taken her that long. But in the process of trying to shield her from the oncoming debris, he himself had been hit on the side by one. It hadn't been too serious in the beginning. But now, after continuing to put his body under more stress, the wound had opened up even more, making him lose even more blood than before.
But the jonin knew that he couldn't give up here. He still had to save his sister and his students. He would be damned if he left them out here in this mess. He was their squad leader. As such, it was his job to protect them until they were ready to tackle the problems of the world.
Kaito pushed those thoughts to the side, however, when he finally caught sight of the gates of his house.
'I've….made it….'
It was here, against his will, that his vision began to darken. He felt himself falling until someone caught a hold of him by the shoulders as well taking Kushina off his back.
"Woah, there. You've done enough already, sensei."
Kaito's eyes widened partially at the voice, recognizing it instantly. Turning his head to the side, Kaito expected to see Naruto's goofy grin. And while he did see a grin, the blond's features had changed drastically.
"You are…..Naruto, right?"
"The one and only," he said before he had to look over Kaito's shoulder. "Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know you're here too, idiot. But there is only one boss."
Not understanding what he meant, Kaito was about to ask until he heard another Naruto speak. "Not entirely true, you dumbass. I'm better than you, after all."
The Naruto who had Kaito by the shoulders t'ched. "We're the same, idiot!"
"No way. I'm cooler. It's a proven fact."
Turning his head, Kaito didn't know what to say when he saw another Naruto carrying Kushina bridal style as they walked calmly into their home.
'So, clones,' he thought. But that sure as hell didn't explain anything as far as he was concerned.
"Kaito! Kushina!"
Kaito relaxed once more when he heard his mother's voice. She had made it too.
Naruto placed him gently on the floor on the entrance of their house. Kaito looked up to see the familiar ceiling that he had grown up with until his mother's worried face appeared in his line of sight.
"It's glad to see that you're all right, mother," Kaito began only to be shushed by Kazumi.
"Don't talk now. You can tell me how much you love me after you recover."
If it didn't pain him, Kaito would have laughed.
Kazumi then turned her attention to her second child who was still in the clone's arms. "Is she okay?"
The clone nodded. "Yes. Sensei kept her safe all this time, even though it put him into such a state."
"Shut it you," Kaito retorted, even though his mother had told him not to speak just seconds before. "I still don't even know what's happening right now. I don't need your jokes on top of that."
The clone that had carried him chuckled. "Don't worry. The boss will explain everything later. But if it helps, you're taking this a lot better than baa-chan did. I don't know if it's because you're injured and whatnot, but she tried to kill me when I first showed up here."
Despite the situation, Kazumi pouted ever so slightly. "You can't fault me for that. I didn't know who you were at first. Nor did I know that you can do all of this."
Before either clone could reply, Miyuki appeared again through one of her portals, her head bowed. "Naruto-sama, the last of the survivors have been taken to my dimension."
The first clone waved his hand. "I thought we said that you don't have to address us like that."
"Heck knows the idiot doesn't deserve it," Kaito muttered, once again not understanding what was happening. It seemed like logic had been thrown out the window now.
Sighing, the clone pointed at his uncle. "We have another injured. But make sure that he does make it shore. I don't care what it takes."
"I'm not on death's door," Kaito retorted.
"But you have lost a lot of blood," Miyuki stated as she knelt next to him, her hands glowing a hazy green. "I'm amazed that you're still conscious."
"It's the Uzumaki spirit," Kazumi said with pride before she looked at her worriedly. "He is going to make it, right?"
Miyuki nodded. "Yes. The wound isn't deep thankfully. The only cause of concern is the blood loss. But if he doesn't move for a while, he will be fine."
Kazumi sighed in relief at that. Looking back at her daughter, Kazumi smiled knowing that her children were going to survive this at least. The smile did get a bit wider when she saw her daughter subconsciously lean in towards the clone that was still carrying her, no doubt seeking even more of that warm feeling that was surrounding her at the moment. Kazumi could feel it herself, after all. Even though she knew that Naruto had lied to them, the blond never lost that warm feeling that made one want to believe him. It only increased ten fold in his current form. That was why she was going to be patient for until the blond explained everything to them.
But the Uzumaki woman did turn to look at the clones with another worried look as she asked, "What of Arashi? Is he-"
"Don't worry about that, baa-chan," the clone said with a grin. "He's with the boss. So he'll be fine. In fact, he'll get a front row seat of what the boss can do."
Sighing in more relief, Kazumi nodded in understanding. At this point, she knew that they had to put their trust on the blond. It was the only way that the remainder of her clan had been able to get out of here safely. And she owed him for that.
Standing up, Miyuki looked at Kaito. "That should do it until you get some proper medical attention. Unfortunately, I'm not exactly an expert at the medical arts." She had never needed it, after all.
Kazumi knelt by her son as Kazumi began to open up another portal. "You will be kept safe in my dimension until Naruto-sama is able to break through enemy lines."
But before she could transport them, Kaito looked at the clone that had carried him. "What of Aika and Haru. Are they safe too?"
It was at this question that both clones stayed silent. However, that spoke more volumes to Kaito than words ever could.
"I see….."
Kazumi looked at both her son and Naruto, already knowing that this would cause them both the most pain. But for now, she couldn't offer much emotion support. Nor did it look like either one of them was asking for it. They both understood that they had to put their sorrow aside for now until they got out of this mess.
Seeing that they had nothing else to ask, Miyuki transported them away along with the clone that was holding on to Kushina.
"It seems that our work here is done," the clone stated as he looked back towards where the original Naruto was. "There are no other survivors inside the village that I am able to sense. The few that made out through the underground tunnels are already far away."
Miyuki walked to stand next to the clone. "So, I guess it is time."
The clone didn't respond as he looked at the place that had once been a heaven for safety and love to him. Event though things hadn't ended the way that he had wanted, Naruto was at least grateful to have lived in the same place that his mother had. He had experienced the happiness and sadness that it had brought her. And that was something that he wouldn't trade for anything in the world. Even through the pain and sorrow, Naruto was grateful for all the experiences that he had gone through here. For what it was worth, he was content.
Coming out of those thoughts, the clone turned to look at Miyuki. "Rendezvous with the boss. The main army is already closing in on them. I'm sure that you won't want to miss that either."
With that, the clone dispelled, sending all his memories back to the original.
Miyuki merely headed to her next destination, already knowing that things had reached their breaking point.
Arashi could not believe what he was doing right now. While he had been fully expecting to die tonight in order to form some sort of diversion for the rest of his family, he would have never done it the way that he was doing it right now. But the difference here was that the blond walking in front of him was not walking to his death. He was pretty confident that he would handle everything with them both walking out of this alive. Arashi wished that he had that confidence.
Although he could sense his grandfather's doubt, Naruto didn't try to quell it as he stopped in the middle of the street, the fires in the buildings around them still going on strong. Naruto knew that it would probably rain soon. He didn't know why. It was just a silly prediction really.
But those thoughts left him when the Sandaime Raikage came charging in from the other side of the street, an entire army behind him. Naruto didn't need his powers to know that he was pretty confident that he was going to win here tonight. It was all over his face, after all. And in some way, he had won. But not entirely. And Naruto was here to show him that.
The Sandaime Raikage ordered the shinobi behind him to come to a halt when he saw one of his targets standing before him. Of all the things he had been expecting to see tonight, this was not one of them.
"You sure do have guts, boy," he began with a feral grin. "But I like that. A shinobi should always be diligent and unafraid, no matter who his opponent is."
But then his attention went to Arashi who was standing beside Naruto. "Although I didn't think to see you here of all places, clan head. Did you think that your precious barrier would protect you forever?"
Before Arashi could retort, Naruto spoke, "There's no need for a debate here, Raikage. We already know that you didn't come here to just talk."
The Raikage broke out in laughter. "Hahaha too true! But in all honesty, I never would have guessed for you to be in Uzu of all places. I thought you Uzumaki were much too prideful to associate with us outsiders."
Naruto shrugged. "It just goes to show you just how ignorant you are, Raikage." The blond could see that his snapping back was starting to irritate the man. But he didn't particularly care at this point in time. "But before you lash out again, I suggest that you give up. I don't want to cause any more violence than what has already happened here tonight."
Arashi looked at Naruto in surprise. He never would have expected for the blond to take the higher road. It was something that few men would do. And if he were honest, Arashi knew that he wouldn't have. Having seen all the destruction and death around him only made him more angry towards his attackers. But that would only be for his self gratification. It wouldn't fix anything in the end. That didn't mean that the Raikage would just roll over and suddenly stop, though. Especially since everything was pointing at his total victory here tonight. They were only two people, after all. He had thousands.
And just like Arashi thought, the Raikage chuckled in amusement. "Do you really think that I would do that?"
Naruto shrugged, a rugged smile tugging his lips. "No, not really. But there's no harm in asking. Especially since I am not feeling too forgiving right now."
Before the Raikage could reply back, he tensed when a woman suddenly appeared next to the blond through some kind of portal.
Arashi was just as surprised as well. But then he remembered about the ally Naruto had told him about before. Could she be it?
"It is done, Naruto-sama," Miyuki said with another bow.
It only made the blond uncomfortable. And that said a lot considering he was staring at an entire army. "You're not going to stop calling me that, are you?"
Miyuki hid her smile. "Of course not. Why would I not address you like that?"
Naruto waved one of his hands in dismissal. "Ba. We'll talk about that later."
"Yeah. First time anyone is being respectful to you. Weird."
Naruto hid his annoyance at Kurama's surprised tone. He had plenty of fans in his time. The whole village...even though they never called him "Naruto-sama." Konohamaru and his corps too…and…..well…..whatever. The furball could have this one.
The Raikage scowled at being ignored. He activated his lightning cloak, making all the shinobi around him bring out their weapons as well.
But Naruto didn't tense. Neither did Miyuki. Only Arashi did. Glancing towards his adoptive son, the man expected to see Naruto staring intently at the situation before them. But instead, he was looking up at the night sky, almost like he was trying to find something.
Before Arashi could question him on this, his eyes caught sight of something in the sky as well. And it was heading for them. Fast.
The Raikage could sense the same thing too, looking up just as the object came flying over them. He shielded his eyes, along with all the shinobi around him, as the velocity of the incoming object forced dust up onto them.
Naruto for his part smirked when he felt someone land next to him. "It's about time you got here, teme. I had to stall for you."
"It's nice to know you didn't start the fun without me, dobe."
Arashi's eyes widened as he heard the unknown voice through the dust cloud around him. Just what was happening right now? But instead of getting more answers, the man only had more questions as he finally caught sight of another boy of Naruto's age standing next to the blond with a hand on his hips. He was wearing what looked like an Anbu uniform save for the mask. Taking a closer look at the boy's feature, Arashi concluded that he was more than likely an Uchiha. But again, that only made him have more questions than before.
The Raikage was in the same boat as him as he wondered who this new brat was. They just came popping up one after the other.
As for Miyuki, she merely spared Sasuke a glance before turning her attention back to the situation at hand.
As the dust completely settled, both Naruto and Sasuke locked eyes with one another, each inspecting the other closely.
'So, you got the Rinnegan from super gramps and a new Susanoo to boot….'
'So this is your new form….along with the chakra of all the bijuu….'
Time seemed to stop for them as they continued to stare at one another. To any outsider, it almost seemed like they were readying themselves to face one another in combat. It was the exact opposite of the way that they had spoken to one another just moments earlier.
And that wasn't exactly a wrong assumption to make either. Both Naruto and Sasuke felt the strong urge to see just how they fared against one another.
But the two let that drop as they turned their attention back to the Raikage and his forces.
"We'll break a hole through them," Naruto continued. "And get out of here."
"I already have the defenses ready on the other side," Sasuke added. "But I doubt they'll follow us after this."
With that being said, chakra burst out of them like a raging fire. Arashi couldn't exactly put what he was sensing as he felt himself being engulfed into something.
"Do not worry," Miyuki said next to him with a smile. "You're about to see something you don't see everyday."
Arashi knew that he had no choice but to believe those words.
Naruto raised an eyebrow when he saw Sasuke's Susanoo begin to surround Kurama's full form like an armor.
'This is….'
"That Uchiha," Kurama said with an irritated tone. "It looks like he's gotten better all right."
"It seems you've learned a new trick, Sasuke," Naruto said with a smile.
"It's something I picked up from Madara," Sasuke said in return with a smirk.
The Raikage couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the sight in front of him. He couldn't describe it. It was something that he had never seen before. Just what was this thing?
His shinobi army behind him weren't faring that much better either. In fact, they were reacting even worse. Not that anyone could blame them. If even the Raikage was shocked, what else could be expected from them?
Standing behind Naruto and Sasuke, Arashi could only observe this in awe. Was this the kind of power that Naruto had all this time? It went beyond anything that he could comprehend. But for the first time, Arashi had gotten one question answered: this other Uchiha boy, it was the same Uchiha as the one that had come to their aid during the ambush. It was another chakra that he would never forget. But even so, his mind was still blown. Just how could two mere kids possess such power?
Everything was still for a few seconds before Naruto began to prep another Bijudama at a quick pace, this one even stronger and bigger than the one before.
Seeing this, the combined army began to scatter save for the Raikage himself who gritted his teeth in frustration.
"DON'T UNDERESTIMATE ME, BRAT!" he roared out as he charged straight towards the Bijudama.
Even though he noticed this, Naruto didn't hesitate as he fired the technique straight at the man.
"Bijudama!"
The Raikage screamed out in pain as he and the Bijudama came in contact against one another. But his physical prowess wasn't anything to be joked about either. For a couple of seconds, it almost seemed as if the man could withstand the attack. But it wasn't long before it was too much even for him. The Bijudama was embedded with Senjutsu as well, after all. It made it more powerful than a regular one. The Sandaime Raikage was sent flying to the other side of the island, the Bijudama exploding a moment later which caused another gigantic explosion.
Arashi could only shield his eyes from the sight, once again not believing what he was seeing.
"This is their true power," Miyuki stated next to him, which made him turn his attention to her. Miyuki had a smile on her face as she continued, "While alone they wield unimaginable power, combined they are the strongest duo out there. No one can defeat them now."
It was a truth that the gathered army came to face as they tried to defend themselves from Naruto and Sasuke's combined power. But it was to no avail. Kurama cut through them like they were nothing but ants. And to the great bijuu, that was precisely what they were. Nor did he spare them any sympathy. They had caused much pain here tonight. And he himself was getting back at them, even though he knew it was a sentiment that Naruto didn't particularly share with him. It was during this massacre that Naruto's prediction from before finally came true: it started to rain along with fierce lightning. But no one really paid any attention to that as the fighting raged on.
After they had cut through much of the army like paper, the four continued on towards the sea where they would be home free. But Naruto narrowed his eyes when he saw the recreated Kiri fleet still docked at the main port.
"You left their ships?" Naruto asked with a raised eyebrow as he turned to look at Sasuke.
"I didn't really have time for anything," Sasuke defended himself. "Not like it matters anymore."
Bringing his arm up to the air, Sasuke smirked. "I haven't done this jutsu in a long time."
Naruto didn't respond as he tensed up, the memories from his last clone in the village hitting him like a ton of bricks.
Sasuke picked up on this but didn't comment as Kurama jumped over the ships and onto the sea like some gigantic athlete. He began to gather his chakra, a Chidori forming around his hand. He h'mphed as he felt one of his more powerful techniques ready for execution.
"Kirin!"
The shinobi still on board the ships were treated to another sight that would be carved into their memory forever as some great lightning beast came out from within the clouds and towards them. With the speed of the jutsu, none of them were able to get away in time as it blasted the ships dead on, once more destroying them into oblivion.
'I've never seen him do that before,' Naruto thought to himself after seeing the powerful jutsu.
Arashi could only shake his head, knowing that it was best to no longer worry about the details lest his head explode.
And just like that, the once powerful army that had taken Danzo years to bring together had been destroyed in a matter of minutes. For those that were still alive, the destruction of Uzu was not something that they would celebrate any time soon.
Jiraiya watched Tsunade bark out orders to the medical ninja with a small smile.
Things had become hectic for her and the rest of the shinobi under her after Sasuke had returned. Some beautiful woman with silver hair had brought the survivors of the Uzumaki clan through some strange but powerful space-time ninjutsu, one that put the Nidaime's in shame. After that, the building that they had "borrowed" to be their current hospital for the injured had been busy up until now. And Jiraiya didn't see that stopping any time soon.
"It seems that we weren't needed in the end," Sakumo said as he stopped to stand next to Jiraiya. "Sasuke and his friend managed to handle everything on their own."
Jiraiya could only nod in agreement. It took all his willpower to not go out and find Naruto at this moment. After everything that he had learned about him, it wasn't surprising that he would want to speak to him as soon as possible. But he and Sasuke had taken off towards the hill overlooking the village after they had made sure that all survivors were situated properly. No doubt they wanted their privacy right now, something that Jiraiya could respect.
"They are strong, stronger than any of us," Jiraiya agreed. "But that doesn't mean that they can do everything on their own. That is why we are here now. Because they also believe in our strength. So we better not disappoint them."
Sakumo couldn't help but chuckle. It seemed as if Jiraiya had somehow matured a bit through all of this.
It was a bit funny to him. But he also agreed. They had a long road ahead of them.
Naruto and Sasuke sat in silence as they watched all the activity happening down below them. Things had picked up after they had brought the survivors onto shore. And thankfully, none of the remaining forces of the combined army had bothered to try and put up some sort of resistance.
"So…..you killed Danzo, eh."
Naruto closed his eyes at that. He had already told Sasuke about that detail earlier. "I didn't want any of this to happen. But it was mostly my ignorance that brought all of this upon my clan. If only I had been-"
"Stop putting yourself down," Sasuke interrupted with a sigh. "That's not like you. Besides, trying to redeem those that have done wrong isn't a bad thing. Otherwise, there would be no reason for us to be here right now."
Naruto opened his eyes, looking at Sasuke in slight surprise. "You've changed."
Sasuke chuckled. "I've had a lot of time to self reflect. Just like you have apparently. We both have faults of our own. But I guess that we can overcome them together. Isn't that what you've always tried to make me understand this whole time?"
Naruto smirked. "Well then. I really wasn't expecting this. Now I can't kick your ass and lecture you all I want. What a bummer."
Sasuke rolled his eyes. "Whatever, idiot."
Another comfortable silence fell upon the duo after that.
A lot of things had happen tonight. Some good, others bad. But for better or worse, the first chapter had been put behind them. They had each experienced their own things during their time apart. They had each lost things and gain other ones. But they were now back together, ready to get started on making their dream a reality. They had their goal set. And the road ahead of them wasn't going to be easy, especially after the events of tonight.
But they both gained comfort in knowing that they were still together, even after all this time. They were a team.
They were brothers.
"It seems that Madara's prediction came true."
"Of course it did. What did you expect?"
"Well, those two brats aren't exactly something that he can predict, especially after we share with him what we saw tonight."
"There's nothing that can be done about that now. But no matter what, they won't be able to stand against Madara or his plans and win. No one can defeat him. Not now that the Shodai is gone."
"Hahaha good point."
"Heh. Now, c'mon. We should tell him how Danzo played his part perfectly."
"Awwww can't we watch this beautiful scene for a few more minutes?"
"Fine. But if we get yelled at, it's your fault."
With that, the two White Zetsu clones watched the smoke coming from Uzu from the mainland in silence.
Things were only starting.
