Freya
"Gabriel Lockhart," he replied.
My heart skipped a beat hearing his name in his deep voice which had a timbre to it. Why was I attracted to this man so much? I couldn't understand the reaction of my body to this man. The man was staring at me continuously and then I felt it, the tingles that erupted all over my body and the chill that ran down my spine.
I was certain that Gabriel was the one who had been stalking me for the past months. The woody scent, the tingles, and the chill it all pointed towards him. What did he want from me? One thing was certain that he was a supernatural being, most probably a vampire.
"Are you a vampire?" I asked him.
"I am the Prince of the Eastern clan. Now if you are done with interviewing me, we need to leave from here," Gabriel announced in disapproval.
"Why should I believe you?"
"Trust me, Freya it wouldn't have taken such a long time for me to hurt you," Gabriel said and leaned picking me up and tossing me on his shoulder.
My head spun due to being tossed upside down, I started hitting punches on Gabriel's back, but it didn't look like it affected him. He kept walking calmly towards the edge of the woods," Put me down you moron," I shrieked.
"I told you the woods are not safe for you," came the cold response.
God, why he had to be so bossy?
"Why are you worried about my safety?" I asked.
"I told you, that you are mine," he answered.
"No one owns me," I punched him hard on his waist.
Gabriel didn't even flinch and kept walking towards the college building. He halted after some time and placed me back on my feet. For a few seconds, I felt dizzy because of the rush of the blood flow to the lower part of my body.
Gabriel held me by my shoulders to prevent me from falling. I felt my heart soften for him at his considerate gesture. If only he wasn't so mysterious and answered my questions with a straight answer.
"You need to get back to your pack, it's not safe for you here," Gabriel repeated the same thing.
"I am not going until you tell me what's happening," I replied adamantly.
Gabriel pressed his eyelids shut in annoyance like I was bothering him too much with my questions. If he thought he could just walk into my life and start dictating me, he couldn't be more wrong. I won't let anyone dictate my life. Gabriel Lockhart was going to learn this the hard way.
"Freya, we will talk later, right now you need to get to your guards and leave," he insisted again.
I shook my head in a 'no', I was not leaving until he told me what was going on. Why he had been following me and why it was not safe for me here. If it concerned me I had every right to know. I couldn't just sit aside and let other people decide.
"Tell me," I said in a stubborn way
Gabriel looked conflicted, he was looking at me like he was unable to decide what he wanted to do with me. I returned his gaze with a stern gaze of mine. We had a staredown for a few minutes. Then he pressed his mouth in a tight line, his green eyes fixed on me in disapproval.
"Why had you been following me, Gabriel?"
"You are not safe Freya, you need to be protected," he replied.
"Protected from whom?"
"From people who want to harm you," I wished he gave a direct answer for once.
His riddles were messing with my mind. Why was he not telling me the truth? Why was he so adamant about hiding things from me? I wished Gabriel would not try to deviate me again and tell the truth.
"You are not what you think Freya, you are special and you need to be protected," he added.
"What do you mean by I am not what I think?"
"Look, I dont know what exactly, but there is a witch she has good relations with our clan and she made a prophecy that a girl was born in this world who will have violet eyes and silver hair and she would need to be protected because she will be the first to be born in a century," Gabriel explained.
I did have silver hair and violet eyes, but what was I? What was special about me? I didn't even have a wolf, how could I be special and need protection? If only there was a detailed explanation about all these things.
"We need to leave from here Freya. The vampire that I killed was one from an enemy clan. If they are here that means they know about you and there could be more," Gabriel said in a pleading tone.
I for once wanted to give in and do as he was directing me. He was right about the vampire. The Vampire and Werewolves had a treaty that they won't breach each other's territory. There were two vampires in our pack territory which meant there was trouble. I didn't know how serious the matter was but I was starting to believe what Gabriel was saying to me.
"Why are you protecting me? What's in there for you Gabriel?" I asked him.
Gabriel didn't reply to me he picked me up in his arms and carried me to the front of the college taking the alley to the side of the building. My guards who were waiting in the parking lot got alert, seeing a Vampire with me. I had heard that the Vampires carried a stench but I didn't smell anything like that from Gabriel. Instead, he smelled good, his woody scent was enough to make me want to jump his bones.
What was the matter with me? Why was I having such thoughts about Gabriel? I was not supposed to think anything like this about anyone other than my mate. The mate who had left me and had not bothered to contact me in nearly a month.
I doubt if Titus even remembers that he had a mate. How could Titus be so insensitive towards me? I got mad at myself again, why was I thinking about Titus? If he could pretend that he didn't have a mate it shouldn't be difficult for me to pretend the same way.
My guards surrounded Gabriel and me from all four sides. They looked in an attacking mode. One movement from Gabriel and they would all have sprung onto him.
"I am fine," I gestured to them, to stay away with my hand.
"I thought you were assigned to guard her and not sit here and enjoy the sun," Gabriel taunted my guards.
"It's not their fault, they are not allowed in the college building," I cleared the misunderstanding.
Gabriel put me down on my feet and gestured my guards to move back. They looked at me with uncertainty. I nodded at them and they took a few steps back from us. Gabriel spread his arm across my shoulder and pulled me to him. I was surprised by the possessiveness he was showing towards me.
He had told me twice that I was his? How could that be possible when I belonged to my mate. How can I be Gabriel's?
"I will come to your pack with you. I am sure my father would have contacted your father by now and they would have discussed all the details. I will meet your father and explain to him further about what we have to do about your safety. I will have to choose your bodyguards myself, I dont think these guys are capable," Gabriel gestured to my guards and they all growled in anger.
"Why would my father agree to listen to you?" I asked him.
Everything was so confusing to me. I couldn't understand what was happening? I didn't know whether Gabriel could be trusted, but he had not given me any reason not to trust him. He had been watching me the past few months and if he had wanted he could have killed me. Instead, he had saved my life, from one of his own.
Gabriel got hold of my wrist and pulled me to my car. I unlocked the door and Gabriel settled in the driving seat," My stuff is still in the library," I told Gabriel.
He gestured to one of the guards to come closer and then asked him to bring my stuff from the library. He pushed the button to start the car and the engine roared to life, " Just remember Freya that you will always be my priority," Gabriel spoke after a while.
"Why? Who I am to you Gabriel" I asked looking at him.
Gabriel who was busy driving turned and looked at me. I was looking at him with a questioning gaze. I knew Gabriel was still hesitant to share the whole truth with me. He was still giving me crumbs and was expecting to trust him fully.
"You still dont realize do you?" he asked the same question again.
