Kapitel 4: First Division
While Shohei joined the first division as the 8th seat, Byakuya, on the other hand, didn't join either Gotei13, Kido Corps or Onmitsukido.
After his humiliation defeat, he returned to Kuchiki Family Manor and started training under the guidance of his Grandfather, Kuchiki Ginrei, the current Captain of the 6th division to reclaim his honor once again.
Meanwhile, Komamura joined the most popular which boasts the highest number of Shinigami, the 11th division as an unseated to increase his combat experience. Just like that, each took their own paths to follow.
A week later.
Kasumioji Family Manor, Sereitei;
Just like any other day, Shohei woke up early in the morning.
After getting ready, he picked up his katana and went to the downstairs Hall while accepting the greetings from the servants with a simple nod.
As he was about to exit the Mansion, an assassin of the family appeared and kneeled before him, "Araya-sama, Hazuki-sama is summoning you."
Shohei nodded in response and turned around to go to her chamber where she usually does her work.
Standing before his maternal grandmother without showing an ounce of respect, he asked, "Kasumioji-sama, you summoned me? Anything important to discuss?"
Hazuki didn't mind it for some reason as she knew his eyes and words were always cold from his childhood after learning of her involvement in the death of his parents. While reading the reports, she said, "I heard you rejected the position of 5th division's Vice-captain for the sake of joining the first division."
Shohei replied, "yes, it is true. So?"
Hazuki then said, "your sister will soon take over the throne as the next Matriarch of the family. Rise through the ranks and gain enough followers so that you can be of some use to the family.
Since our family won't involve in the matters of Gotei 13, people will consider you as our representative. So, It would be best if you become the Captain of a squad. But either way, as long as you can protect your sister from outside and inside threats, I have no complaints."
Shohei replied, "I understand. So, can I leave? I don't want to be late on my first day."
Hazuki nodded in return, "yes."
As he left, Hazuki frowned, "those eyes of his. There's really something off about them. I wonder why..."
1st Division Barracks, Sereitei;
With the 8th seat badge in his hands, Shohei reported to Yamamoto at his office. Vice-Captain Chojiro Sasakibe, who was accompanying the captain introduced the 1st Division while giving a tour around the Barracks.
"First of all, let me brief you information about our organization. Our Gotei 13 has a military strength of 3500 of which we have the least number of Shinigami with just 129 including you. Meanwhile, the 11th division has the highest number of the army of over 480 because it's the combat division.
Each division has it's own roles. Our division is primarily responsible for relaying Central 46 orders, dealing with Soul Society law, and monitoring the other divisions.
We rarely go to the human world unless the Shinigami representatives have gone rogue or stayed past their time limit and we are asked assistance for it. So, what happens in the real world is none of our concern unless we are asked for assistance by other squads.
As you know the Central Great Underground prison was right beneath our barracks. So, checking on the prisoners from time to time is also part of our job. Other than that, we usually patrol all over the Sereitei with other squads.
On the 3rd day of every month, Captain Yamamoto will hold tea parties at our Barracks. So, you should attend it.
Since you are a seated member, you don't need to stay in the quarters like others and can operate from your home freely. We can send you a Jigokucho (hell butterfly) if you aren't present at HQ in the Barracks.
For now, your job will be following 3rd seat Genshiro Okikiba-san all day and learn all the duties.
And lastly, the most important. If any emergency is issued, seated members of our division are allowed to act independently to deal with the problem unless there is an order issued by captain Yamamoto."
After listening to everything, Shohei simply nodded, "I understand."
PRESENT DAY:
Urahara Shoten;
Uryuu woke up with bandages over the body and looked at his surroundings, "where am I? Last night... that Grey hand..."
The last thing Uryuu saw before he lost his consciousness was the back of a man who suddenly appeared out of nowhere and tried to punch Renji with a Giant Grey Hand made of spirit particles.
"Did he save me again? Damn, I'm too weak compared to that Shinigami. Wait a second. What about Rukia and Ichigo?"
Uryuu then slowly stood up and opened the door and saw Urahara and others were having tea.
Looking at him, Urahara greeted with a smile, "Good morning Ishida-kun. Want to join us for tea?"
Uryuu asked in return, "Who are you? How do you know my name? Are you the one who saved us? And where is Rukia? What happened to Ichigo?"
Urahara replied, "Woah, Woah... don't ask too many questions at once, Ishida-kun. One at a time, please. And how about joining us for..."
Uryuu asked impatiently, "answer me..."
The smile on Urahara's face was wiped out and replaced with a serious one as he answered his questions except for Shohei's identity.
After hearing everything, Uryuu stood up, "I'm leaving. Thank you for everything."
As he was about to step outside, Urahara asked, "so, what will you do?"
Uryuu left the shop while replying with a serious expression, "there's only one thing left for me to do."
Meanwhile, at Karakura High school, Shohei entered the class and glanced at the empty seats of Uryuu and Rukia, although his gaze was a little bit longer on Rukia's desk as he thought, "should I have stopped them from taking her away? Nah, she will be alright at Soul society. After all, she belongs to one of the noble houses. But the Kuchiki family is also strict..."
First Division Barracks, Seireitei, Soul Society;
After hearing the report from Byakuya, Captain-Commander Yamamoto nodded, "you may proceed to Central 46 with Rukia and attend the trial."
