Kapitel 27: Something Wasn't Right

A flicker of embarrassment flared in his chest, an emotion he hadn't felt in years. Had he really been the one chasing her all along? He clenched his jaw, forcing himself to shake off the thought. No, that couldn't be right. She had to have been making advances, he convinced himself. He wasn't someone who misread people, especially not women. But the doubts lingered, stubbornly refusing to be dismissed.

His grip tightened around the glass as another memory intruded few days ago, when he had seen Alice leaving the private room John had just entered, her expression a mixture of cold satisfaction and something darker, almost secretive. What had she done in there? He knew exactly that something passionate had happened between her and John but here she was refusing him wasn't he good enough?No!! John was far incomparable to him he knew that...She probably had a bad taste in men, a very bad one.. he thought as he remembered her saying he of all people was not her type.
