Kapitel 4: Virtue of the Vice
Night.
A groggy boy got up from the rough wooden flooring and absent-mindly stared at his surroundings and finally at the panel that was floating in front of him.
[Energy Meld - Ten year old spirit skill.
Effects - Active - Increases cultivation speed on bare ground.]
"I succeeded."
"I am quite calm about this, more than I thought so. Shouldn't I be happy and exclaiming in joy?"
"Forget it, I don't have the mood for it."
[Then don't ask.]
Fan Lin muttered with a foolish smile on his face. Despite his calm voice , his face was barely able to contain the wide smile he was having. It looked creepy.
His now white spirit ring floated in front of him and his spirit soul also presented itself around him with just a single urge(thought) of his.
So that's what the connection to the spirit soul feels like. It like having mindless slave, I mean, an unconscious ally that will help(listen) to your all.
Was I a sadist in my past life?

I wonder.
But let's put aside all those things for later, at the moment, I have something more important.
I should eat something.
As for the spirit skill, it was from a ten year old artificial spirit soul, of course it will be weak.
My mentality seems to have improved from yesterday if I am thinking this rationally, right?
Plus, it's not like this is a bad skill, I can use it to increase my recultivation speed even more.
*Munch*
Well it might be coming out of nowhere but I also need to find out the suitable spirit souls for myself.
From what I have been thought and read, I am most likely a reincarnation of a Bluesilver Grass and if I can find the suitable spirit souls, I can use them to further evolve myself into a higher Spirit Beast.
At least that's what the books said about Tang San and Huo Yuhao.
I should be able to do the same, right? I am not a mere human but a soul beast reincarnation, how can mere humans compare to me?
[How many times is he going to mention this?]
*Crunch*

"What's going to happen to me?"
Fan Lin whispered out loud after finishing his inner monologue.
"I can't get married, I never planned for that anyway."
[...?]
"And~ hmm? That's it. I thought I would have more problems."
"Currently the only troubles that I have are the constant fear of doom, finding out my spirit soul, getting the money for my spirit soul and hiding my identity."
"Life's not that hard, now that I have weeded out the unnecessary worries."
*Sigh*
"So on the ground, right? Let's start meditation then."
With a renewed vigour and the creepy smile, Fan Lin came to the backyard and began to meditate. Still not completely sure of what to do.

(Morning)
Fan Lin was cheerfully hoping towards his way to the school but with an expressionless cold face.
He was still happy inside but it had diminished a lot and now he wasn't smiling like a fool or creep anymore.
He was on his way to tell his Principal about the words that the receptionist awakener at the Spirit Pagoda said to him and then let the adults handle the rest.
He, on the other hand, would focus on keeping his identity safe and sound while increasing his cultivation base.
At the moment, till the time he doesn't get near a Titled Douluo, he will be fine, the most that will happen is death anyways.
And as he had already said:
"Can't I just let time heal my wounds, my fears and let nature takes its course? Why do I have to worry about a future that uncertain and unknown by everyone? If I am doomed then whatever actions I took will lead me to it."
"If I am blessed, then I will be fine the way I am living."
The forest where I live is just a place that I stay at. If it's not available, then I will just find a different one instead of wasting my time on remembering it."
The past him had already said it, he will do what he wants, not what he was forced into or what the world made him do.
When he realised that he was a soul beast reincarnation, his mind was in a turmoil: unable to calmly think and properly react to the situation as 'him'.
As he calmed down, he just let go of his hesitation and decided to continue what he was doing but for a greater purpose.
He had already decided on being a Spirit Master before he learnt about himself. He perfectly knew the dangers and troubles that he will encounter on his path.
Money, perseverance, determination and connections, things that were needed to succeed in the Spirit Master world.
And yet he had chosen it. Why?
"Because how else would I know about my past life then?"
"Nothing has changed now, just the danger level has increased and my life expectancy has decreased by a huge margin. Hehe."
"...and~ didn't I always proclaim to her that I would do whatever I want to. Be it lazing around or watching the stars, not attending the school to wandering the town aimlessly."
"And guess what? I have my past self, the me who died to get to where I am."
"He is me. His desires should be mine as well."
"Right?"
"So why not fulfill it?"
"But how to fulfill it when I don't have my memories?"
"So I just checked the library and found out that there is a chance to get my past self's memories back if I reach a suitable cultivation. Sixty 70 Eighty 90, I don't know though."
"It's a chance but why would I miss an opportunity to know about my past. Maybe I have some kid or wife Bluesilver Grass waiting for me to come back."

"I could also have parents. Maybe friends as well."
And that's how an impulsive decision was made last night and this is me rethinking the events of the last night in my head again while I am going to the Light academy.
And Fan Lin didn't mention a cruel detail in his self thought. The last nights events made his anger for a certain race soar so much that he wanted to become strong enough to chop them like leeks.
This was due to the fact that whatever scenario he thought of, his end was always by the hand of that particular race that we won't mention as most have already guessed it already.
No matter what he chose to be, till the time the particular race existed, his life was always hanging on the death's door.
He had to live a life in suppression and fear of being caught, he hated that thought but what can he do, he was a heavenly treasure(self-proclaimed but true) and wherever he will go, greedy and lusty eyes will always follow suit. Such was going to be his life.
[Narcissist]
But Fan Lin suppressed his rage inside him, he was weak, too weak. He was so weak that he would die if a group of Spirit Scholar ganged on him.
So this was not the time to be angry. Now was not the time to be angry.

Fan Lin snapped out of his thoughts as the gates of the Light academy came to his sight.
He recalled the lines that he prepared beforehand and went to meet the Principal.
1 and a half hour later.
Fan Lin finally met the Principal after an hour and a half as the Principal was in a meeting with someone and Fan Lin had no choice but to wait at the reception.
When he met with the Principal, he immediately got to the point.
"Principal, the envoy of the Spirit Pagoda said that—"
"I know about about that, they called me yesterday to talk about it...." [Principal]
The Principal interjected Fan Lin mid speech and began to talk about the conversation he had with the Spirit Pagoda envoys.
"Truthfully I wasn't that shocked when I heard about you as I already had an inkling that you would definitely be out of ordinary." [Principal]
"So when I heard that they will allow you into the intermediate academies that were affiliated with the Spirit Pagoda, I immediately began preparing for it." [Principal]
"The only thing that remains now is what you want. You are still a child, so if you want to continue your studies here, you can do that. I won't stop you, and I promise that I will provide the utmost resources that I am able to."
"Or you can choose any of the affiliated academies and go there. Not to lie but any of the affiliated academies can easily provide you with far more resources that I can ever hope to and personally I also think that's best for you."
"But you aren't just any regular child, you are a Spirit Master, you have the right to decide what you want, I won't interfere with that."
"So choose without any worries."
The Principal caringly said to Fan Lin in a fatherly tone. Fan Lin looked at the Principal of the Light academy. He was a man in his 70s, with wrinkles on his old face.
He had a pair of bright eyes that seem to reflect the wisdom he gained throughout his life. He was also the one who had given him a loan for his spirit soul.
"I want to grow stronger." [Fan Lin]
"Then intermediate academy is the right choice." [Principal]
"Okay. Wanna know about my soul skill?" [Fan Lin]
"Show it to me when you have paid the loan." [Principal]
"... where should I go?" [Fan Lin]
"Eastsea Academy. It's not the best but it has a teacher that is from the Shrek and has rumoured to be from the inner Shrek. Due to some incidents, he is going to teach the younger students and you will most likely end up in his class." [Principal]
(This was explained later but for those of you who truly want to find faults, here is the reason.)
(Fan Lin is currently at Rank 11 Spirit Master rank with a Bluesilver Grass martial soul, so he will, by default enter the Class 5 aka the worst class whose teacher is going to be Wu Zhangkong.)
(But since Fan Lin is at 7 years old now, he would obviously be placed in either class 2 or 1, but here comes the Principal's actions. He, using his connections and Spirit Pagoda's help was able to get a guaranteed seat to Wu Zhangkong's class.)
(Lastly why would the Spirit Pagoda envoys help the Principal? For a bigger cut in the commission they will gain due to introducing Fan Lin. The stronger Fan Lin gets, the more benefits they will reap.)

(That's because of the next statement of Fan Lin)
"What are the other options Principal?" [Fan Lin]
Fan Lin politely asked the Principal. As for choosing the Eastsea Academy, that was already cancelled when he heard about the student of Shrek.
As for why? That's SHREK ACADEMY. One of the three main powers of the world. Full of Titled Douluos and such.
So to go to an academy that was infested with a student from that SHREK ACADEMY in his situation was self-murder.
Fan Lin wasn't in the mood for that.
The Principal looked at Fan Lin and then suggested the next place.
"Skysea Academy. Better than the Eastsea Academy in terms of resources and such. Located in Skysea city, the port town with Federal naval base and has quite a good security and opportunities to grow strong." [Principal]
'●__●' [Fan Lin]
"Another one." [Fan Lin]
"Skyorder Star Ocean academy. It's the best intermidiate academy in the north-west region. It specialises in mechas, tool masters and flying devices. Overall, their strength is low but it's still far better than Eastsea Academy. And... it's good." [Principal]
The Principal explained patiently. He did find it odd on why Fan Lin was asking for more options but it's not like there was anything wrong with it as well.
"This one, can I join this one?" [Fan Lin]
Fan Lin said after some thinking.
"Yeah you can. Should we proceed with this one?" [Principal]
Fan Lin looked at the Principal. He wanted to grow stronger soon but he can't enter a place that was filled with strong people. His only option was to find a place which met his lofty criteria.
Now he found one, a school that was weaker, full of nerds(speculation) and on the weak side of the academies.
"Yeah, why not." [Fan Lin]
