Fan Lin hurried along the different corridors and floors of the main school building to reach the venue of his next class - Combat assessment.
The venue was the Intermidiate Battle Arena 5 and all his classmates had already started the group brawls without him.
Seeing his arrival, the combat teacher came to him.
"Currently you are the weakest in the class, so just observe how the other students fight among themselves."
"Don't try anything combat related by yourself. If you do, always do it under the supervision of someone senior or your teachers."
"Teacher Ming might have already told you this but focus on improving your cultivation base for the next few months. Include morning runs in your daily routine as well. How much to run? Start with a kilometre everyday and then increase it by one or two every week."
The combat teacher signalled Fan Lin to find some place to watch the group battles before leaving to keep an eye on the rest of the students.
Fan Lin stood there for a while before finding a secluded spot and watching the different matches.
After the fight ended, everyone was taken to a different room to check their spiritual power. After that, classes ended and lunch time came.
In the two hours of combat class, Fan Lin learnt that his class had 5 Spirit Grandmasters, and the second lowest rank Spirit Master was at rank 17 and just a month and a half has passed since they had been attending the Star Ocean Academy.
Currently Fan Lin was at the lowest of the bunch being Rank 11 Spirit Master but apparently he has the highest level of spiritual power of 71 among the whole group, 23 points higher than the second place.
'So my spiritual power rose by 4 points in five days. Maybe it's the sudden shock of the truth of the Skyorder Star Ocean Academy and it's relationship with the military.'

Fan Lin wondered while eating some tomatoes.
"The cafeteria provides free food. Why don't you take something more filling from there?"
"Or the tomatoes are that good?"
The Combat Teacher asked as he sat down beside him.
"I am a vegetarian." [Fan Lin]
Fan Lin answered truthfully since lying could make things worse.
"?" [Combat Teacher]
"Why? Any type of allergies or something?" [Combat Teacher]
The Combat Teacher asked nonchalantly. He didn't think much about the fact that Fan Lin proclaimed himself a vegetarian since people with meat allergies do existed.
"I like vegetables more." [Fan Lin]
Fan Lin again answered truthfully except the Combat teacher thought that Fan Lin was saying that vegetables were tastier. Thinking along those lines, he tried to 'inform' Fan Lin about the difference between the Silverlight Town and Skyorder city.
"You don't like the taste? If so, rest assured, we have the best chefs in here. Some of them even had worked in the best kitchens of the Douluo continent." [Combat Teacher]
"I just don't find flesh appetising. Maybe a illness or something. I don't know." [Fan Lin]
'Must be because I am a grass.' [Fan Lin]
Fan Lin said again, except this time in a complete sentence. His words making the Combat Teacher surprised but after some thinking, he just nodded his head a few times.
"Everyone has their own troubles." [Combat Teacher]
The Combat Teacher said and began eating his food in silence. Fan Lin did the same but at a faster rate. After eating the rest of the tomatoes, he left for the library.
Lunch break lasted for an hour and it was enough to memorize some of the class syllabus, he will review and revise them later on.

After the lunch was the history classes and after it ended, he was free for the day. So Fan Lin went to the library again to learn about the Battle Armour and its requirements.
And then five days passed as the same routine repeated itself everyday where he studied and meditated.
The better version of the scrapped up Mysterious Heaven Method indeed lived up to his name and his meditation speed was nearly twice as before, which when added with his soul skill boost, made him experience the biggest cultivation increase since he started training.
(Pertaining to his special spirit skill conditions, he was allowed to meditate in the man-made garden of his dormitory.)
Although he hated his current dull life, he still persevered through it so that he can become one again with his past self and memories.

As he continued to visit the library and read as much as he could, his knowledge reserves on the Battle Armour and the various secondary occupations increased and with it, he was able to finalize which path was the perfect for his situation.
And lo and behold, his once a week holiday had come again and he was ready to go to the Mecha Mechanic association to register himself as an apprentice.
As for why a Mecha Mechanic? He knew his condition and wanted to avoid the Titled Douluos at all cost but that wasn't to the point where he would cease to do anything and just lie down on a corner of the world. That was impossible if he planned on cultivating.
He chose the Mecha Mechanic simply because it can do the work of both Mecha Designers and Mecha Makers, although the downside was that it required more than twice the efforts to Mecha Designer or Mecha Maker and Mecha Mechanic would always be less proficient than an actual Mecha Designers or Mecha Maker of the same rank.
But the good thing was that they obviously had knowledge of both the jobs and could mingle into any group without any problems. Adding to the fact that his Sky order Star Ocean academy's syllabus had spirit engineering and that really helped with the Mecha occupations.
And if he was proficient enough, he can do the job of three occupations on his own and would just require a Blacksmith.
That's it.
Just that and he chose the Mecha Mechanic job for himself.

A few hours later, he returned to the Star Ocean Academy with the apprentice badge of the Mecha Mechanic association which just required a small fee and no tests as he had just started without any knowledge; that's what an apprentice was.
"Now what? Make a new routine and stick to it everyday." [Fan Lin]
"No pain no gain!"
He remarked before leaving for the library.

[Timeskip - 5 months]

Intermidiate Battle Arena 5.
Fan Lin looked at his opponent for the combat class, a girl with rank 19 soul power and Blooming Thornvine martial soul.
5 months have passed since he started attending classes in the Star Ocean Academy and now he was allowed to participate in the actual combat assessment of Grade 1 class 2.
During the past six months, he had been observing all the battles of his classmates from the sidelines and he knew how the girl in front of her attacked.
Just as he was thinking this, the girl activated her first soul skill and dozens of poison darts were bombarded at his direction with breakneck speed. Fan Lin had obviously anticipated that long ago.
The darts all landed on their target and Fan Lin was escorted to the medical ward by the health committee. He still had to give his monthly spiritual power test later on.
'And why did you think that anticipating the move would mean I would be able to dodge it?' [Fan Lin]
[He is talking to himself.]
'I will try ducking next time.' [Fan Lin]
He thought again as the Healer type Spirit King was purifying his body of the poison darts poison.
Despite the six months of running, he was still weaker than the students who trained in combat along with their daily running and meditation.
'Obviously🙄' [Fan Lin]
"You can go now. Good job in your cultivation."
The Healer said to Fan Lin and allowed him to leave. Fan Lin gave a polite nod to the man who was going to heal him in the upcoming time.

"So the Spiritual power kid has returned from the glorious results of his first fight." [Combat Teacher]
The Combat Teacher said with a smile. He had repeatedly told Fan Lin to surrender if he couldn't fight because fighting someone 6 ranks above you without any combat related spirit skill was a foolish idea that would provide no actual combat experience or such.
And yet Fan Lin, through the cheering of his classmates, had decided to accept the match lot with a smirk.
"A man doesn't bow down to the challenges, huh?" [Combat Teacher]
The Combat Teacher taunted him once more before taking all the students to the room where their monthly spiritual power test was held every month.
Throughout his way, his classmates made sure to remind Fan Lin of the 'cool line' that he spoke so confidently before being KOed in one hit.
The past six months had obviously improved the cohesion between Fan Lin and his class and now he was a step up of the social ladder and had become background character 13 from his previous position of a social outcast.
But that didn't matter as Fan Lin boy was a favourite of the teacher due to his higher spiritual power which made memorizing and learning things easier and secondly because of his career choice of Mecha Mechanic and his interest in Battle Armour, spirit engineering and soul devices. At least that's what the students thought.
"Here we are. Let's start with him. Where is he?" [Combat Teacher]
The Combat Teacher Xing Nia said to the student body. After hearing him, the area around Fan Lin was emptied as the rest of the classmates signalled at him with their eyes.
*Sigh*
Fan Lin sighed and moved forward to the spiritual power test machine. He hated this machine of all the things in the Star Ocean Academy due to the increasing intensity of the migraines it left him everytime he checked his spiritual power.
'As if my life isn't full of annoying things already.'
(A shock later)

"Ten points higher than last month. You once again set a new record in the grade 1." [Teacher Xing]
The Combat Teacher said while looking at the drained out Fan Lin who was picked up by his classmates and put aside for the rest of the class.
"Although you have one of the most visible aftermaths of the spiritual power test that I have ever seen." [Combat Teacher]
Teacher Xing commented and continued onto the next students, recording their spiritual power and praising them once in a while.
Fan Lin on the other hand began to meditate to calm the turmoil in his mind.
Each spiritual power test made him feel irritated and impatient along with the constant headaches which was not normal. A Spirit Master gets used to the spiritual power test after a few times but he still hasn't.
The most conceivable thing that he could think of that caused these effects was that he was a failed spirit beast incarnation.
That could also explain the rapid growth of his spiritual power. He had been meditating for the past five months and had only improved his cultivation base to rank 13, nearing rank 14, which was quite fast for the Bluesilver Grass martial soul but not that fast for the others.
All of his classmates had reached rank 19+ and the disparity between him and the rest increased more due to the difference in combat experience and soul skill usage.
But to the good fortune of Fan Lin, the teachers had repeatedly told him to not worry about anything else except his cultivation in the first year and they always praised him for his rapid improvement.
Fan Lin didn't understand if they were just that good actors or were genuinely praising him for his efforts. He didn't know...
To be truthful, Fan Lin would have reached a higher cultivation base if he had just solely focused on his cultivation but since he was dividing his time to focus on his studies, Mecha Mechanics and cultivation, his cultivation speed felt slow to him and his classmates.
But that wasn't the case for the teachers who knew about him. Currently, Fan Lin was using a third of his time to cultivate and still got an increase of two ranks.
Now if he was to cultivate two thirds of his available time, he would have easily gained an increase of 4 ranks in just 5 months.
4 ranks in five months was an incredible feat even for the superior martial souls not to mention the Bluesilver Grass.
And he did that without any external help or panacea. This was truly a praiseworthy achievement and that's why his teachers always praised him to keep him motivated.
They knew about him going to the library and learning different things, they knew that he used all his free time to meditate and they also had an idea of his continuous improvement in the Mecha Mechanic field and his part time job to earn his livelihood.
To the teachers, Fan Lin was a hardworking kid who was doing his all to improve himself.
So they also provided some help of their own in dissuading any students who had funny thoughts about Fan Lin or were spreading empty rumours or such.
Soon the kids realised that messing with Fan Lin was tantamount with getting on the wrong side of the teachers and they stopped, allowing our Lin to enjoy some time of peace in his life.

Mecha Designers
Specialized in designing mechas and battle armors, as well as their soul circuit formations
Requires high spiritual power to draw and comprehend the function of mechas and battle armors inside-out and the soul circuits on them.
Uses predecessor designs or blueprints acquired with one's ingenuity to improve.
Mecha Manufacturers/Makers
Specialized in crafting soul circuits on mechas and battle armor
Required high-speed precision to craft soul circuits.
Mainly dependent on the usage of fused spiritual power and all personal powers as well as strength control to craft.
Uses blacksmith forged metal and designer's blueprints to practice making imperfect products for improvement.
Mecha Mechanics
Specialized in both Designing and Manufacturing, mostly for Repairing and Inspecting production process
It's quite hard to multitask in both designing and crafting, so most people won't choose this profession or are not very high-ranked.
Are usually not as skilled as a truly specialized Mecha Designer and Mecha Manufacturer; but a high-ranked Mecha Mechanic is still very respected.
Allows one to be added to any mecha or battle armor production team as a direct assistant to Designers or Manufacturers, improving the creation process without more errors.
Improves by participating in production processes for experience through accumulated knowledge usage.
Blacksmith
External, but most necessary
Forging of necessary resources for product creation.
Resources enhancement through Harmonizing Refinement (fuse forge), allowing advancement in product levels.
Improves by one's talent, cultivation rank, stable spiritual realm, forging experience, and luck.
Spirit Engineering
Everything soul device related. From flying type soul guides to trains, platforms, Mechas and even aircrafts, new automated weaponary, naval ships, cars and even headlights etc.
