Kapitel 41: Fame At A Price
It didn't take long before the police arrived only to be left dumbfounded by the scene before them. The two alleged hitmen were left in a condition so bad, they began wondering if the hitmen were the victims and Leo was the actual killer.
While the men were handcuffed and taken away in an ambulance, Leo was left with no choice but to recount the assassination attempt. He left out the part where he used his abilities, claiming he hid beside the door when they broke in, catching them off guard and successfully disarming them.
The police originally thought Leo's story was far-fetched but what they heard from his neighbors was even more stunning. Their story involved scenes where he manhandled the hitmen, tossing them around like trash.
The things they said are not something that should be possible for a normal human but when they remembered the condition these men were in when they came, the story began making sense.
By the next morning, the news had already spread across the world. A story of a devilishly handsome lawyer who stands for truth and Justice wins a murder case in one sitting and goes ahead to beat up a group of highly skilled hitmen.
He has the looks, he has a strong sense of justice. He has a promising career and he is strong and skilled in mixed martial arts.
Leo became the image of perfection in the world. His fame naturally grew because of this but he also gained a lot of haters because of this.
Many call him fake, many call him a scammer and many say it was all staged. Regardless, his fame grew.
With everything going on, the name Leo Wright became known to the world putting the firm in a tough position. There was a lot of pressure from the public for Leo to be rewarded for his excellent service.
Stephan challenged the proposal of a promotion, claiming Leo has spent too little time in the firm and has insufficient experience required to become a senior associate. He argued that Leo should be given more time to grow and develop his foundation or his career may be ruined if pushed to a level he is not prepared for.
His words seemed to affect the final decision. Thanks to Mr, Lyson who had connections with the higher-ups of the main headquarters, Leo was awarded ten thousand dollars and an opportunity at a promotion. All he needs to do now is keep up the good work and he is sure to be promoted soon.
While Stephan wasn't satisfied with the final decision he couldn't do anything about it. On the bright side, he stopped Leo from becoming a senior associate. Unknown to him, Leo didn't care much about any of this.
His life is still at risk as long as that strange group still exists. He was pretty sure he won't be able to enjoy the fame in death, so Leo decided to take the initiative and strike this time.
But first, he needs to find out who these people are.

Since Leo made ten thousand dollars today, he thought it would be nice to treat himself to a good meal before he continued with his plans of investigating the strange group.
The air was filled with the fragrance of aromatic spices, and soft traditional music played in the background, creating a soothing atmosphere. Leo sat at a table near a floor-to-ceiling window on the second floor that offered a breathtaking view of the world outside.

Course after course, the culinary journey through Jade Dragon's menu proved to be a delight for all the senses. Leo savored fragrant fried rice, wok-tossed noodles, and aromatic stir-fried vegetables that showcased the artistry and skill of the chef.
As the meal came to an end, Leo couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and gratitude for the remarkable experience he had just encountered. Unfortunately, he couldn't dwell on the feeling for too long.
Leo looked at the watch strapped to his wrist only to find out it was already past ten. He looked around and noticed the restaurant was almost empty. Leo looked out the window and watched two hooded men conversing in an alley not far from the restaurant. With his physical capabilities enhanced, his site was also better than that of the average human.
Even though he couldn't spot any definite qualities from his distance, he was still able to notice some sort of shady transaction going on between them.
Seeing this, Leo revealed a cruel smile and rose to his feet. After paying for his meal, Leo walked out of the building, heading in the direction of the alley. If he wishes to find people who live in the shadows, he needs to leave his comfort zone and step into the shadows.
As a lawyer, he knew not all information can be gotten online. Sometimes you have to step into the field and get your
hands dirty if you wish to get the best results.
