"So the brat didn't lie. From the looks of it, he doesn't have a guardian or godparent. Haaa, why does it always have to be so troublesome. Let's just send a report to the higher ups and await further orders." Zen quickly made a report before sending it to the higher ups. He then shut off the computer before pivoting and loosely walked back.

"I certainly wonder what those knuckleheads will do about this."

---

Hisato was quietly sitting together with Kuro. He was looking out of the window, within the window, his reflection could be seen. He had messy black hair and a bleak whitish skin. His eyes were, just like iron, grey coloured. He wore a simple dark grey T-shirt and simple yet comfortable looking pants.

He looked tired and when the old man asked him something Hisato always answered with a short answer. He rubbed Kuro's belly to which Kuro responded by grabbing Hisato's hand and licking it. Kuro then looked at Hisato and let out a small meow.

The old man walked up to Hisato, "Brat, do you mind that I sit here?"

Hisato glanced at the old man and shook his head. Thus the old man sat down and leaned against the wall. He looked over at Hisato and asked, "Brat, can I ask something?"

"Sure." Hisato responded as he looked at the man. An innocent expression could be seen on his face. Slight happiness was hidden behind his eyes.

The old man had already figured out that Hisato was just trying to act tough and cold.

"How is it? How was it to live in that dimension or however you call it?" The old man asked. He was intrigued by the concept of a separate dimension.

Hisato was a little taken aback by the question as he didn't expect it, "Well… in the beginning, it was really hard. There were strange monsters which always hunted me down at night. I always hid in small coves or caves, and if I was found, I would always run and if I had no choice I would try to fight them. So I slowly progressed and improved. I eventually became able to trap them and kill them. Eventually, I was able to use my ability to a certain extent. I began to utilize it in smart ways and so I gained the strength to repel and even kill the monsters." Hisato looked down and sighed. A hint of grievance flashed through his eyes

"But, it didn't matter. Whenever I repelled the monsters. They always came back the next night. Each time they were stronger and more ferocious. It was really a pain in the ass. Fortuneraly, I managed to pull through and survive. I lived like that for a long time. I kept trying to train my ability and improve it but I was unsuccessful. After a couple of years, I suddenly attained a breakthrough. I was able to do so much more with my ability. Since then, it kept improving non stop. It was to the point that I could do almost anything. Sadly enough, I couldn't do anything about the monsters."

Hisato looked at the old man. With a fragment of sadness on his face. "Oh, sorry. I didn't mean to have an entire monologue." Hisato rubbed the back of his head in a sorry manner. "I haven't talked to anyone in so long so I just began talking…"

The old man looked at Hisato. He felt a little sorrowful for the kid. 'Just how much did this kid go through…' He thought before saying, "Haha, it's fine, kid. I am used to listening to boring higher ups who are having a meeting which takes up to hours. I really don't understand why I must attend those meetings. Anyway, could you tell me how the world was? Like your surroundings, the scenery and such."

(Old man is kuudere confirmed?)

"Sure, the world itself was really beautiful. There were large biomes which differentiated a lot. There was the mushroom forest in which gigantic glowing mushrooms in every colour of the rainbow grew or a barren field with hundreds of floating islands above them. There were beautiful forests with glowing trees and beautiful butterflies flying everywhere. There were enormous tundras with ice spikes covering hundreds of meters and alpines where mountains reached thousands of kilometers into the sky and the northern light shone there day and night." Hisato's personality did a full 180 and he began to explain the various lands he had explored. Although the world was fearsome it was also extremely miraculous.

The old man listened carefully. He began to pity the kid. 'I guess that the sayings are true; A place which can be described as beautiful, is most likely to be accompanied by danger.' He sighed before rubbing his hand through Hisato's hair. "Kid, I feel sorry for you, for the things you had to go through." Even though Hisato had a slight hint of sadness he smiled and looked extremely serene.

The old man looked at Hisato before saying, "Kid, it's fine. The past can no longer hurt you, the remains are all in your head. You shouldn't be scared of your past, after all, it's all a part of what made you become what you are today." The old man's voice was sympathetic and a hint of sadness could be seen on his face.

"I know old man. It's all in the past. " Hisato said as he burrowed his head between his knees and a hint of sorrow flashed through his eyes.

"Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. The name is Taemon Jiro. Nice to meet you brat." He held out his hand and waited for a handshake.

Hisato shook it and said, "You know mine already."

"Well, look at that. The old geezer has taken a liking to the kid." Zen sneered teasingly. He had just arrived and listened in on Hisato's story. He smiled before entering and began to mock the old man.

"Hah? You said something? you gun addict?" The old man placed his hand behind his ear and pretended not to hear it.

"Is your hearing getting worse again? Maybe you should just retire. You are an old geezer after all." Zen countered Jiro's words and shrugged.

"Tch, Anyway did you send the report?" The old man quickly changed the subject because he felt like he was on the losing edge.

Zen smirked as he noticed Jiro's attempt to change the subject but decided to play along. "Yep! Now we just have to wait for the higher ups to give the orders. They already decided to send me out to catch those birds which Hisato mentioned."

"Alright then. Let's just wait until then. You want to get some food?" The old man groaned as he rubbed his hand over his stomach.

"Of course! And since we have to take care of Hisato for the time being, let's bring him along." Zen said as he glanced at Hisato.

"Haha, I am fine with that. Let's go!" He laughed as he grabbed the two and dragged them along as he sprinted through the hallway and leaped through a window. Which then shattered into pieces as he landed on another building.

Zen looked at the old man with a disappointed look. "You never learn now do you?" He shook his head. "You just demolished a window of my department." He clicked his tongue and sighed.

Hisato on the other hand was quietly enjoying the trip. Kuro was hiding within Hisato's embrace and peeked out to see the surroundings.

The wind gushed through the air as the old man leapt off the building and into the air. They soared through the sky at high speed which kept increasing as if it had no limit. Suddenly, they abruptly stopped and the old man placed them down. "We arrived." He said as he began to stretch his left shoulder while holding it with his right arm.

They were standing on a flat roof. They jumped down and landed on a rather busy street. Hisato checked the surroundings and a small smile appeared on his face. He finally felt like he had truly returned.

"Come on, let's go." The old man and Zen began to walk to a certain restaurant and began talking to a waiter. Hisato slowly followed while quietly looking around him. He yawned before sniffing his nose. Hisato picked up a delicious aroma and followed Zen and the old man as they entered the restaurant…
