Kapitel 19: Chapter 19: The Consequences of the Truth

Zoe had hardly spoken a word to Dylan the entire plane ride home. He did try multiple times to get her to open up, or to say anything at all, but she refused. She couldn’t put words together. She didn’t know how she felt, or what she wanted to say to him. All she knew was that she was angry, she needed space, and she needed to figure out what would come next.

She wasn’t just angry that he had lied. She was angry that he was rich. Which of course, made no sense whatsoever. A rich boyfriend is usually every girl’s dream. But not Zoe’s. She had a boyfriend who was well-off and who only cared for himself. She went down that road, and it ended poorly for her. Why should she subject herself to that again?

She had thought Dylan was different from the others. But he wasn’t. He was a liar just like the rest. Although he said he lied to protect his own heart, what about hers? He knew every single detail of her misery with Kyle, and he still chose to lie to her.
