Fortunately, his true alpha form was resistant to the poison otherwise, he would have died instantly upon contact. Still, it took his body a while to expel the poison and recover.

He would awaken to an extremely distraught Aubrey by his bedside.

"Aubrey?" Rhyland muttered. "What are you doing here?"

"Rhyland! Thank God! You're awake. I flew back as soon as I heard." Aubrey exclaimed as she wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug. But the sweet reunion would only last that long. As Aubrey pulled back, she had a stern expression on her face.

"When were you planning to tell me about all this?!" Aubrey demanded.

"Hehehe. When everything was over." Rhyland answered in a chuckle.

"Rhyland!" She admonished.

Instead he asked evasively.
