50% My Dark Angel Prince: Trapped in Death’s Embrace / Chapter 10: The Monster in the Shadows

Kapitel 10: The Monster in the Shadows

We were now standing in front of a huge, black door. I could hear laughing, giggling, and talking coming from the other side. I darted my eyes towards Rey and he looked back at me, there was something in his eyes, some sort of worry and excitement looming within those glittering orbs. It was as if he was asking me if I was ready, and truly, I was not.

I had no idea where I was or who I was just about to meet. They sounded like they were having the fun of their lives. The two guards ahead of us bowed their heads, and neither of them spoke a word.

"Everything will work out fine." Rey muttered, which I overheard. I could not tell if he was speaking to me or just telling himself that everything would be okay.

"If you were trying to calm me down, it most certainly did not work." I admitted, earning a chuckle from him.

"Just be yourself and if anything happens, do not worry." Was he just telling me not to worry? Well, that made me worry even more. It did not make any sense at all. There I was, in a different dimension, in an elegant dress that I would have never been able to afford in a million years, accompanied by an angel of death, and about to meet even more divine beings. My mind was about to explode! How did we go from accidentally running into each other to where we were now in a span of a couple of days? I had no idea.

The said angel then nodded to the two silent guards, they began to pull the hefty double-door open. I followed Rey inside the dim-lit, spacious room. The laughter died. Several heads turned, casting questioning looks in our direction. The sound of my high-heels, picked by Rey, echoed through the room, breaking the heavy, unsettling silence. My heart raced, I had always hated being the centre of attention, and there I was, in the middle of the place, with everyone's eyes glued to me, judging my very existence.

Rey stopped and so did I. Out of the corner of my eyes I saw someone heading towards us, it was the same man who had confronted Rey before. His glistening, golden hair gently swayed behind him with each move he made. He was also clad in dark, leather armor, though not as beautifully intricate as Rey's.

"What's the meaning of this?" He spoke loudly whilst approaching us, his anger apparent in each strong step he took. The crowd began murmuring, their side glances and low giggles subdued only by the man's loud footsteps.

Rey turned to the side, facing him. The man stopped and stood before Rey, his blonde brows knitted tightly.

"The meaning of what, Dagan?" Rey spoke quietly, a wide smile coloring his face.

"What are you trying to do? Make a statement?" He stepped even closer, becoming dangerously face-to-face with the angel of death.

Rey's face darkened, he was obviously upset by the man's challenging words. He lowered his head until there were only mere inches between the two

males.

"Watch your mouth, Dagan." He hissed.

Dagan's boiling rage was written all across his face, "Do you seriously not know what your actions might cause? Are you really that st-" he was cut off when Rey's fingers were suddenly around his neck. He lifted the man until his feet were no longer touching the dark, marble floor. He choked in agony, struggling to pry the angel's hand away from his purplish skin.

"Wait!" I cried out in pure horror. There was something about him right there that felt so dark, so wicked, and so hateful.

"Rey, stop this!" I shouted again, the room had gone deadly silent. He did not listen to me, he kept choking Dagan until I thought he was going to snap his neck in half. I rushed towards him, grabbing his assaulting hand. It was as cold as ice, I kept tugging on it, begging him to let go.

His head turned in my direction, and the whites of his eyes were now completely black. He seemed like a totally different person. Long gone were his soft, gentle glances, his sly smiles, and his deep chuckles. He looked... terrifying.

No one seemed to move a muscle, they just watched the man getting almost choked to death, they watched Rey change into something else, and they still watched in complete silence.

"Stop it. I'm serious!" I breathed. He looked at me as if he had never seen me before.

"let go of him! Rey!"I let out a final cry. He blinked, seemingly gaining consciousness when he heard me call him by his name.

"That's right, you're Rey, just Rey."

His eyes widened and I smiled, breathing heavily. He let go of the man, throwing his body away, Dagan ended up hitting a large, towering pole, breaking the stone. Two men rushed to him as he lay there, pale dust swallowing his form.

The angel of death tore his gaze from me, scanning the room. He returned back from wherever he was.

"Do not ever think of crossing me, not if you value your life." He warned, his piercing, gruff voice echoing through the silent room. He then looked at me and nodded. I understood that he wanted me to follow him.

He made his way across the large room and I followed him, finally getting a full look at his glistening black wings. He stopped before several stairs and glanced at me, stretching his arm in my direction. I took his hand and he led me to the large black throne.

Without uttering a single word, he wrapped his arm around my waist and suddenly pulled me to him as he sat on the throne. It was too fast to process but I was now sitting in his lap, and on the throne, nonetheless!

"Are you out of your mind?" I squirmed against him but his strong arm pinned me in place.

"I would advise against that." He whispered in my ear and my eyes widened in shock when I felt him against me.

I remembered him saying the same exact thing when I tried to slap him, now that I thought about it, he probably did not want me to feel the pain his touch brought with it, but there I was, sitting in his lap, my body pressed to him, and if I recall correctly, I had touched his hand just a few moments earlier.

The crowd before us did not react, they stood in silence, their faces colored with rage, some even with disgust. I knew that it probably was not Rey's smartest idea. He had just brought a human home, almost killed his friend, and was now sitting on his father's throne. Was he even thinking straight?

"What are you looking at? Go back to what you were doing." He was now shouting at them too, apparently.

"What are you doing?" I spoke quietly when the people in the room started talking again. I noticed that some of them had glasses filled with a dark liquid in their hands.

"Having fun."

"You call this fun?"

He leaned in closer, the movement causing more friction between our bodies.

"With you pressed against me like that, I do." He whispered in my ear, sending a shiver down my spine. I remembered Jason, had he ever talked to me like that? I did not think so.

"I wanna go back home." I said, facing the people who threw glances in our direction every now and then. I saw a familiar face, it belonged to the woman who I had met when I first got here. Aniela, Rey said her name was. She looked at me as if I was the most hideous thing in the world and I could feel her anger from where I was sitting—in Rey's lap if I might add.

"You will, just not now." He leaned back again, I could feel him through the thin material of my dress. Blood rushed to my cheeks and I swallowed hard.

"I can touch you." I stated, biting my lip.

"I would love that."

"No, you freak, I mean I touched your hands and did not feel any pain."

He hummed, I could not see his face but I knew for a fact he had a big, mischievous grin plastered to his handsome face.

"Can I ask you a question?" The murmuring and whispering around us got louder.

"No."

"What had just happened to you? You changed, you...looked different." I was truly curious. Back home, he looked like the average, cool young man, with a hair bun, jeans, and hoodies. Here, he looked exactly like I would have imagined a prince would look like, but a few moments ago, he looked dark and angry and utterly horrifying.

"Sometimes it is hard to control." I could feel his chest rise and fall against my back.

"Control what?"

"Do you always ask so many questions?"
