Kapitel 2: BIG HONEY BROWN EYE
With a deep and intimidating frown on his handsome face, Ocean knocked loud enough on the door for the person inside to hear. His sensitive ears picked on the racing heart beat and the soft paddling of footsteps inside the house. When the door didn't open, he knocked a little bit louder than the first time eliciting a loud gasp while the heart readied itself to jump out of her chest. What a sweet heart my neighbour has, he said in his head while internally smiling for being the cause of the the person's fear. When he raised his hand to knock again he heard a voice,
"who is there?" asked the girl in a brave voice even though her heart is beating five times more than a normal heart
"your neighbour across" he answered with a smirk
"Neighbour? by this time of the day" the girl asked herself but he heard it "My dearest new neighbour, to what do I owe this visit?"
"Keep your horrible voice down, you are disturbing the neighbourhood and me especially"
"Huh? how did you hear it?" she questioned,
"it doesn't matter just keep your terrific voice down or just stop singing and sleep"
"Mr new neighbour, don't you think it is rude to come to a person's house and tell the person what to and what not to do?"
"No, I think it is rude for you to come from nowhere and disturb the peace of the neighbourhood"
"I didn't come from nowhere Mr neighbour"
"Does it look like I care"
"why are you angry at me? you don't even know me"
"why won't I be angry at you for interrupting my sleep after a long day at work?" you know you don't sleep right? he rolled his eyes at his inner mind
"Mr neighbour, if that is all you came to do, I would advice you to go back to your apartment before I call the security on you"
"security? I dare you to call them and I would have them throw you out my estate this minute" he is yet to close his mouth when he heard the door open and close immediately. His gaze fell on the girl he is much taller than as she is craning her neck to look at him. Her big sparkling honey brown eye looked surprised at first before it turned into a glare. The other eye is covered with an eye patch while her hair is covered in an oversize bonnet. He unknowingly frowned at the figure in front of him as he sized her up. What did Stone see in her? all I can see is a bunch of chubby cheeks that I would like to sink my fangs into, okay that's too much.
'Who the hell wears sun glasses in the night? This is scary and funny. He is a bad neighbour so I hope he runs into a wall while wearing it' she thought to herself but he heard it, he enjoys invading peoples minds.
"Why are you wearing sunglasses by this time of the night?" she blurted and internally bit her tongue
"None of your business" he retorted, making her scoff
"Whatever. Did you just say your estate? what makes you think I care? I paid for the house, I am not living here for free which gives you no right at all to make me uncomfortable" she stated with her hands crossed on her chest.
"look here rabbit teeth neighbour...." her brows furrowed as those words left his godawful mouth,
"Did you just call me RABBIT TEETH NEIGHBOUR?" he nodded and then continued,
"I am not here to exchange words with you but to tell you to keep your voice down"
"uhm.....okay. You can go back to your abode now"
"DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO" he warned her as he raised his eyebrows, making him look more intimidating
"Okay" 'I shouldn't have opened the door' she thought to herself. Stupid rabbit teeth neighbour, he said in his own mind.
"What are you still waiting for Mr neighbour?" On hearing the question he leaned towards her with hope of sinking his fangs into her neck but her scent sent a whole new sensation to his body. Shocked by the sudden closeness, she leaned back, her calm heart beat picking up again
"you are in my personal space. Do you mind..." she motioned with her hands for him to move back
"Why? are you scared that I would hurt you?"
"What? that's absurd" she let out an awkward laugh while he picked the scent of banana fruit from her breath
"I don't know, is it?"
"Good night Mr neighbour, I was busy before you came here"
"Busy doing what?" he asked in a demanding tone "busy eating banana and being noisy" How did he know I was eating banana? she asked herself and he smiled before answering,
"your breath says it all" she took few steps back again and ended up plastering her back on the door
"Good night again Mr neighbour" without waiting for him to even breathe another word, she immediately opened the door to push herself inside and closed it with a loud bang. Ocean grinned at the action before walking back to his apartment across.
Inside the apartment, Stone stood close to the window to watch and listen to the exchange between his brother and the new neighbour with a very wide grin on his face. When he heard the sound of the door, he immediately jumped into one of the couch, pretending to be serious with something. Ocean looked at him suspiciously, knowing that the younger man was eavesdropping on his conversation with their new rabbit teeth neighbour. Stone waited for Ocean to feed his curiosity but he didn't.
"how did it go?" Stone finally asked with a wide smile
"How did what go?"
"she is a beauty isn't she?"
"I don't know your definition of beauty but bear it in mind that beauty is only in the eyes of the beholder"
"So I am guessing you didn't behold her beauty this night"
"if it will help you sleep better. I mean what is there to behold? her white rabbit teeth and big honey brown eye, the eye patch, the small pink lips, her over size night wear, small feet and hands, or is it the oversized hair bonnet? I am sure her ears are small too. She looks like a toy." without his knowledge, a small smile played on his lips as he recalled all these things.
"Toys are meant to be special" Stone stated with a wide smile as he watched his brother recall these details about the girl.
"Stone, are you trying to make a point that I am not getting?"
"point? what point is there to make?" Stone let out a nervous laugh making Ocean look at him suspiciously
"I don't know" Stone smiled at him and he rolled his eyes "oh I forgot to tell you that we would be going to the company tomorrow. I heard George has been recruiting members to support his plans of overthrowing the boss and stuff like that."
"some people are just born to be foolish"
"I agree. Not that the company mean anything to me but I just hate it when people think they can build on another person's foundation."
"George is the last person I expect to do such thing"
"I wouldn't say same. Good night"
In another apartment, the girl removed the eye patch covering her eye and sighed.
"What a weird neighbour I have. He reeks of trouble and I hope not to cross path with him again. He is funny though, wearing sun glasses at night" She chuckled at herself while the image of a guy wearing sunglasses keeps flashing at the back of her mind. It took a while for his unique, intoxicating manly scent to clear from her head. Without thinking much about it, she made her way to the bed room to get some sleep against tomorrow's work.
Ocean sat on the chair as he tried to organise his thoughts back to his father's letter but the only thing that keeps playing at the back of his mind is his new neighbour's rabbit teeth and big honey brown eye staring right back at him. Who knows what happened to the other eye? how about we find out tomorrow? no, I don't want to have anything to do with her.
"this is not what I am supposed to be thinking. Ocean focus...." he stood in front of his curtain and opened it a little to take a peek at the house across. He let out a huge sigh before walking to his bed to rest his body even though he is everything but tired right now, based on what he is. He made a mental note to reply his father's letter soon since he is not in the right state of mind. As he closed his eyes the big brown honey eye appeared again, making him chuckle.
"this can't be happening."
