Kapitel 14: Make a Deal

She took a deep breath as she took a step forward, deciding to make a move, as it was obvious that he was not going to speak first.

"President Si, let's make a deal."

He continued to look at his folder, and only until his eyes had reached the bottom of the page did he put the folder down and look up at her, "What deal?"

When their eyes met, Xu Anyi felt her heartbeat speed up again. But why?

Was she scared of him? No, she had no more fear left in her after the past five years. Then. . . was he too handsome? Well, Xu Anyi had met many good-looking men in her life, but she had never experienced such a reaction when facing them.

Xu Anyi took a deep breath to try and calm herself down, "Do you. . . know me?" She asked cautiously.

Si Mu seemed slightly surprised at her question, and then a small grin appeared on his face, "Xu Anyi. . . How can I forget you?"

His voice was soft yet clear in the silence of the room, and it sent chills down Xu Anyi's spine.

She could not figure out what exactly he meant. Perhaps he remembered her from eight years ago? Well then, he probably wouldn't know what had happened in the past five years.

"I went to jail," she stated bluntly, expecting him to be surprised.

However, instead, she was the one surprised when he responded coldly, "I know."

She blinked a few times and then her eyes narrowed slightly as she added firmly, "I was framed."

There was a moment of silence.

"I believe you."

A surprised sparkle flashed past her eyes as she felt her heart skip a beat and then suddenly speed up again. She had not heard those words for many years now.

Well then, if he did believe her. . .

"I want to take revenge." Xu Anyi took a step forward, not hiding the fierce and determined look in her eyes now, "I need someone's help-"

She changed her wording, "I need your help-"

"What is your deal?" He cut her off, leaning back slightly as he crossed his legs together.

Xu Anyi fell silent.

She needed his help, but what could she offer?

He did propose to her eight years ago, but why? Because back then, she was rich, pretty, confident, sexy, the red rose of the entire city. Now, what was she?

The dirt fallen on the ground.

What could she possibly offer to Si Mu?

The room was filled with a deafening silence as Xu Anyi clenched her fists together behind her back, not knowing what to say. She had not thought this far, which was stupid of her, since she should have known that Si Mu was a businessman, and he would not make a deal that put him at a disadvantage.

And she had nothing to offer in this deal.

Xu Anyi let the silence sink in, and she wondered if she should leave now. However, just as she took a step back, the silence was broken.

"Marry me."
