"Don't ever say that again," he returned with clenched teeth. "I know my wife. She would never cheat on me. Mia is very loyal."

"Is that why she is living with some guy? Because she is very loyal to you?" Beth retorted.

Jack hissed. "Don't you dare, Beth. You know the only reason she is out there was our mistake. She shouldn't have seen us together."

Beth took a deep breath, picked up a glass, and filled it with a drink. "It's useless, right? The love I have for you is all wasted. Can't you see she doesn't care for you in any way? She didn't try to fight for you at all."

Jack held her hand and placed a small kiss on it. "You are special to me in your own way. Please stop comparing both of you. You are two different people in my life."
