Kapitel 53: Disqualified

Mia lay on the couch, holding her forehead. The moment she heard the door open, she bounced to her feet and ran towards the door. Declan frowned when he saw her standing so close to the door. He had never seen her wait for him so eagerly. Did something happen? Suddenly, Mia hugged him, causing his bag to fall to the floor, but she didn't release him.

"I'm glad you're back."

He frowned; something must have happened. He pulled her away from him and looked into her eyes, but she gave nothing away. She only looked tired, as if the weight of the world was on her shoulders. "What's wrong, Mia? Did something happen during the interview?"

Mia looked away from him, picking up the bag that had fallen on the floor. She moved towards the living room, and Declan followed behind her with a furrowed brow. "What happened? Did you not win the gig?"

She nodded with a long sigh. "I was unable to interview. I got disqualified before it was my turn."
