Kapitel 11: Soaring High

"You know, when I first met Samael, I felt something… rare. He isn't like us—not bound by necessity, not drawn to humanity's heartbeat like I am. No, his gaze was something different altogether… a fire tempered by something ancient, as if he were both light and shadow in a single breath."

There's a finality to him—a kind of gravity that's impossible to escape, but also an understanding of every ending, as if he can see through every illusion we cling to."

I don't fear him, but I respect him deeply. Samael is no mere force of endings; he's a keeper of truths that few can bear. He sees beyond life and death, beyond even our realms. Be wary, all of you, for he could be both a guide… and a reckoning."

Death to the Endless, at the Garden of Forking ways, on her first meeting with the Light bringer..

Michael who had gone silent also whipped the best he could with an audible sigh.

"Samael, heed Gabriel's words. This questioning spirit blinds you to the truth: the Almighty's design is not a competition for favor. We serve because it is our purpose, not because we are the only ones capable of service. To seek more than what has been given is to step away from that purpose."

I couldn't help but shake my head, as I reverted to my mundane form.

"Very well, then. But remember this—if the Almighty Himself creates forces beyond our reach, then why should we not reach beyond our bounds to understand what else there is? If the purpose of the Endless is eternal, perhaps ours should be… just as boundless."

Leaving those words behind, my figure slowly dissipated into particles of aether and disappeared from the council room.

I reappeared on a small hill adjacent to the throne room of Aether and crouched low, looking down on the magnificent city below me, and the millions upon millions of angelic spirits frolicking atop clouds to and fro, going about their daily responsibilities.

I had to calm myself. I was the perfect creation, I couldn't allow myself to get worked up over the births of fake cosmic entities who posed absolutely no threat to me whatsoever. I was Samael for crying out loud, the light bringer..

A small smile crept up to my face, and my tensed shoulders relaxed.

However, my relaxed face scrunched up into a scowl the next moment, when I sensed a familiar figure descending behind me, bathed in starlight.

My jaw tightened in annoyance, and my eyes narrowed, a flicker of irritation barely concealed. I did not look directly at him at first; still looking down below at the magnificent scenery, but the shifts in my posture and tense shoulders, signaled my dislike of the intrusion.

After a beat, I spoke, my voice low and edged with restrained annoyance.

"Metatron. I did not summon you, nor do I require your guidance."

His expression was hidden, yet I could feel the sudden shift in the atmosphere, but couldn't tell whether it was related to Metatron's anger or disappointment.

"Samael." He began, his voice as deep as the waters below, yet it irritated me to no end...

"I come with a message from the Almighty. You know well that there is order, laws as ancient as the light itself, and you are bound by them as we all are. It is time you set aside your resistance and accept this order. Obedience is not optional, it is required."

At the mention of yet another message from the Almighty, I exhaled a long, weary sigh. My shoulders sagged slightly, as if the weight of countless edicts had finally begun to press upon me. For a moment, I closed my eyes, the faintest hint of exasperation crossing my usually imperturbable expression.

"Another message, Metatron? Must every breath, every moment, be punctuated by the Almighty's demands? I know my purpose—I have carried it for eons. I don't need endless reminders."

I turned to him finally, gazing upon his divine form, a brilliant explosion nebula and supernova, fantastic in every way, yet I was unimpressed and salty.

" You speak of obedience as though it were the purest virtue. Tell me, then—what of understanding? What of questioning? Blind obedience may build order, but it does not build truth."

I dismissed his words and paid no heed. What exactly was it with all of the brethren accepting and following Father's will blindly without questioning it. Was it because, I was different or what? I couldn't find answers.

"Truth lies in the Almighty's will, Samael. To question is to court chaos, to place your desires above the divine purpose. Your duty is not to understand but to fulfill."

Metatron's voice bore a resemblance to Michael's. And just like my twin, Metatron sought not to advise not to admonish, but to command and order. It took all the virtue in me, not to hurl a billion exploding supernova at his 'righteous' visage.

"Duty. I know my duty well, Metatron. But my loyalty is not to law alone.

I was forged in the fires of both creation and destruction; I am not one to follow blindly.....I walk the edge between light and shadow, seeking balance in ways your laws cannot always define."

I clapped back without hesitation and the guardian of the throne room seemed taken aback by my nerve.

"Balance is but a shadow of the order we are meant to uphold. There is no room for deviation, Samael. You are a part of the Almighty's plan, not its arbiter. Submit, and you may yet find peace."

"Peace? You mistake me, Metatron. I am not here to find peace; I am here to uphold truth—even if that truth disrupts the comfort of order. The Almighty's will is vast, beyond even your comprehension. Perhaps it is you who needs to understand that the laws you hold so dear are but a sliver of that greater design."

I never lost in a contest of words. He went silent after the last part of my statement before a frustrated sigh escaped him.

"Take care, Samael. To defy the will of Heaven is to risk your very purpose." He began to burst apart into aether particles before disappearing fully from my vision..

At this point, Father and possibly Mother were already aware of my whole questioning and disobedient fiasco, but then again, they were all knowing and made me this way. If there was any blame to dish out, then it was to be laid on them, not me.

Just like that, my mood had been ruined yet again by another. I needed to go clear my thoughts. All of sudden I felt suffocated in this place. I needed a breath of fresh air..

With a shift in my posture, a pair of pure, topaz and gold mighty wings emerged from my back and flapped gently. I walked to the edge of the hill, looked down, let out a smile and let myself fall.

I was akin to a shooting star, moving at speeds that was unfathomable to mortality, and I enjoyed every bit of it. My eyes were closed as if I cared not about the city below. I fell past multiple magnificent structures and my divine energy hurled away any of my brethren or obstacle in my path, but nearly an inch from the gold plated streets of the Silver city, my wings stretched out and flapped once.

*WOOOOOSH!!!*

With a simple flap, space-time was torn asunder and I disappeared instantly. The next moment, I was soaring within the void of space. The sensation of soaring through the cosmos was a transcendent mix of liberation and visceral connection. The darkness of space stretched around me, studded with stars that glimmered like ancient beacons calling to me from untold distances.

My senses pulsed with the energy of celestial bodies, each one whispering the secrets of time and space. There was an exhilarating rush as I moved, propelled effortlessly forward, feeling both weightless and powerful. My vision shifted seamlessly, encompassing galaxies, supernovas, and nebulae, each vast and radiant.

I felt the cold, vibrating emptiness of the void and the distant warmth of stars that I could almost reach out to touch. Time felt elastic, as though I was skimming across epochs, brushing against fragments of creation and echoes of forgotten worlds. My essence resonated with the primal hum of the cosmos, each moment expanding my awareness. In the silence, I perceived frequencies that spoke to me in a language of pure energy, a chorus of existence, making me acutely aware of my own being—and yet, dissolving my ego into the cosmic symphony around him.

My thrill was short-lived however when I finally reached my destination -the barren world I visited a while ago with Uriel. But my senses picked up on a few peculiarities on that world which bothered my mind for a moment.

Unlike the barrenness my brothers and I came to meet previously, the world was now a lush green and blue sphere that pulsed with the immensity of life and creation.

My wings folded into my back and I descended slowly onto the peak of a rather large mountain overlooking the world from above. But after a moment I understood.

Given that time was literally non existent in the Silver city, a single passing instant there would be interpreted as probably a millennium in the mundane world. Despite this, the rate at which evolution and change had overturned the essence of this world was shocking.

Something or someone was responsible for this...

Stretching out my hands, I closed my eyes and peered into the sands of time. Divinity interacted with reality baring all secrets before my eyes. From the beginning of existence to the current time, and Lo and Behold, I found my answer.

I was indeed right. Someone had been responsible for this great change and this someone was none other than a Primordial of Khaos, The Earth Mother and Mother of all- the one known as Gaia.
