[ THE PREVIOUS DAY ]
Vanessa put her elbows on the table, her old eyes red, puffy from crying too much. The news of Jasmine's loss deeply shook this middle-aged woman's heart.
Every day, every time she cried, she remembered the fateful incident to her daughter-in-law and future grandchildren. Vanessa was reluctant to open a medical practice, afraid she would not focus and misdiagnose the patient's illness.
"Sob… Jasmine. Why don't I keep you here?" A cry of disappointment resounded throughout the room.
Vanessa still remembers how Jasmine smiled, how Jasmine laughed, and also how Jasmine comforted her when Leonardo ignored her.
"Oh… poor child," Vanessa complained. The transparent crystal granules fell again. The sound of sobs echoed back to the ceiling of her practice room. Sadness gripped this woman's heart.
