Kapitel 93: Calm Sports Festival

As the days passed, it was time for the Sports Festival.

Mineta was as calm as ever. While everyone was talking to each other, he was reading a book. This event might be special and generate a lot of money for the school, but everything had nothing to do with him. He didn't even get a share of the money, and all he could get was just prestige and popularity.

However, in the current hero society, heroes need popularity the most.

'I'm like a celebrity.'

So even if the press, audience, many heroes, and other viewers were excited about this match, he didn't share the same excitement as them.

"Mineta, did you cut your hair?" Jiro asked.

Momo had been stealing glances at him from time to time and also decided to look at him bravely since Jiro asked this question to him.

He looked at the two and everyone else. He could see they were all nervous since it was their first time participating in this grand event. Talking would alleviate their nervousness, but he knew that wasn't why they spoke with him.

"What do you think?" He cut his mullet down, giving him a neat, refreshing, stylish, yet elegant hairstyle, especially when he read a book. If someone saw him, they would think he was an intellectual man or scholar.

"I like your mullet, though," Jirou said truthfully since his previous hairstyle was a rock. If he was like a rockstar, then now, he was like an elite or a noble young master. Naturally, she liked the previous one.

"No, this one is better," Momo argued.

"Eh? Really?"

Suddenly, the two of them argued about which hairstyle was the best and forgot about their nervousness anymore.

He sighed since he was being ignored now, but it was good since he could continue to read. He was reading the collection poem of Miyazawa Kenji now, and he loved his poem, especially "Be not Defeated by the Rain."

This poem pictured how even if Miyazawa Kenji was sick, he didn't give up and was still able to think of this beautiful poem, which gave everyone a spirit when they needed it the most.

It had been a month since he was a student of the Yuuei, but he had to say that his life was quite hard. Fortunately, in the last two weeks, his life was quite peaceful since everyone focussed on training to become as strong as possible during the Sports Festival. He didn't approach girls and only talked with them normally like others since the mood wasn't right.

Everyone was working hard, so how could he use this time to settle the relationship between the two?

Instead, he spread the seeds and watered them every day, waiting until they bloomed.

He was no longer shy about what he was doing since he wanted to change this world, and power was necessary. Many might say he was powerful enough, but it was only at night. During the day, he still had a lot of weaknesses.

Well, not really, since no one should be able to catch him if he wanted to escape.

Still, leaving his ambition behind, he should focus on the Sports Festival that would start soon. While he sipped his coffee slowly, he felt that this event was held too soon. It had been a month since they had become students, yet the event had started. Couldn't they wait until autumn or a few months later?

Still, he also understood why the school did this.

Fairness.

Well, it wasn't exactly fair, but if the Sports Festival had been held a few months later, the students in the General Department wouldn't have been the opponent of the students of the Hero Department, so the faster this event was held, the better since everyone still hadn't gotten used to life as a high school, so there shouldn't be much difference of power between students.

This was also a chance for the students of the General Department to bring down the students from the Hero Department.

On the other hand, this was also a chance for the students of the Hero Department to show their might.

Everyone was given a chance at this event, so everyone did their best.

While he wasn't sure whether there was someone who could force him to do his best, he was going to get the best result.

Championship... it was his target!

'Now that you've mentioned it.'

He looked at the reward that he received from Hagakure.

Link.

It was the ability to link with the people he wanted to. When he put a link to someone, he could share his stamina, his passive abilities, and many others. By this point, he realized he had become a supporter character in the RPG game.

'It will be useful when I open my office in the future.'

By then, he didn't need to work and let his Side Kicks do the work.

"Minoru-kun, can I ask for some of your coffee?" Tsuyu asked since the aroma of coffee tickled her desire.

"Sure, Tsu-chan. I prepare a lot in the thermos. If you want it, you can take it yourselves." He took quite a few large thermoses from his bag, so everyone could drink the coffee.

"Thanks, Mineta!"

"You're amazing!"

Everyone still remembered the taste of his coffee, so they were quite excited when they could drink it again.

On the other hand, Hagakure didn't look at the thermos. Instead, she looked at his tumbler but wouldn't ask him now since she was afraid the other girls might also ask the same. By then, their relationship was no longer special.

Still, suddenly, the voice of Todoroki and Midoriya attracted everyone since they seemed to be in the middle of an argument.

Everyone also looked in their direction, wondering what was happening.

"I am going to beat you," Todoroki said after a long monologue. This might be weird for him to challenge Midoriya, especially when Midoriya wasn't the strongest and even the clumsiest. If he wanted to challenge someone, it would be either Bakugou or Mineta. However, Midoriya was special since Midoriya had attracted All-Might's eyes.

Kirishima wanted to stop them from fighting, but he was pushed away by Todoroki.

Still, Modoriya held his fists together, thinking about his responsibility as the next generation of One-For-All. When he saw Mineta and everyone was hurt before, he felt everything was his responsibility since if he was stronger, if he could defeat the villains, or if he could control his "Quirk" better, the tragedy wouldn't happen.

"I have no idea what you want from me... telling me all that... you're definitely stronger than me..."

Midoriya started his negative rumblings.

"He-Hey, Midoriya, you don't need to be that negative." Kirishima was speechless.

"Even so! Even so... I am not gonna lag behind! I am going to become the champion with all of my might!"

Midoriya showed a determined expression as if he was the main protagonist of this story.

"Oh..." Todoroki was in a daze since he didn't expect this answer, but Bakugou was in a bad mood.

Bakugou looked around and saw Mineta ignore them and just drink his coffee while reading a book quietly.

"Hey, Mineta, aren't you going to say anything?"

Unlike the rest, Bakugou called him by his name like Midoriya.

"What do you want me to say?" He put his cup of coffee and book on the table before stretching his hands high. "If the two of them fail to enter the second or the third event after saying all of that, it will be funny."

"....." Midoriya and Todoroki.

Bakugou somehow laughed, then grinned. "Then, I am going to defeat you in this Sports Festival." Unlike Midoriya or Todoroki, who was in their world, he could see everything clearly. In this class, everyone and everything was under Mineta's palm, but his influence was faint, almost invisible. When Mineta used them, everyone would move under his banner.

"I am not the strongest here. If you want to win the championship, you should challenge either Midoriya or Todoroki. Their power is better than mine." He lied as he breathed.

"Liar!" Bakugou roared

Even Midoriya and Todoroki could feel that Mineta was teasing them, which caused their faces to feel hot from embarrassment.

"Whatever." He didn't care about Bakugou's words and clapped his hands to attract everyone's attention. "Everyone, let's prepare. It's almost time for the Sports Festival. Whether you lose or win to anyone in this class, don't hold a grudge, okay? Let's all have a fair and healthy competition."

"No hard feelings between us!"

"Awesome, Mineta!"

"Bravo! Bravo!"

Iida once again clapped his hands while crying.

While he was speechless, he led everyone out. "Okay, come on. Let's show everyone that our class is the best."

"OOOOOOOHHHH!!!"

Everyone in Class 1-A walked out together, and it was their time to show the world their strength.

Bakugou, Midoriya, and Todoroki, who saw all this, felt helpless, but they knew Mineta would be their strongest competitor.
