"Man down! Raul is down! Raul is down!"

Griffel shouted into the radio while crawling next to Raul, then lifted his helmet.

The blood and some tofu-like substance all flowed out.

Griffel's hand, which had been reaching for the medical kit, stopped.

Chris asked him, "How is Raul?!"

Griffel froze for two seconds, steadied his rapid breathing, and then calmly replied, "He's dead."

Chris no longer had time to save Raul. He took Raul's spotting scope and crawled back to the entrance, then cautiously aligned the lens bit by bit to peer outside.
