The pungent smell of blood drifted in the air as a man winced in pain as another continued to torture him with lashes of a whip on his back.
A man sat looking at him with no emotions in his eyes and watched with his lips curved up in an evil smile, he walked towards the man with a dangerous aura empty of humanity.
"You still won't talk", said Lui Feng, his voice sounding bored but full of malicious intent. The man struggled to keep his head up as the beating didn't stop, his body felt numb but his eyes were fierce.
"You're a monster", said the man, his eyes filled with anger. 'Fool' Lui Feng thought and just scoffed.
"I'm the Devil himself", he replied and walked back to his seat to enjoy the show, but his mind was focused on the human girl and it seemed like the man wouldn't talk.
"Kill him", he ordered and the next minute the man's head rolled and he turned into black ashes.
"Tch. What a waste of time", he said with disappointment in his voice as he headed towards the door.
"Master, what should we do now, since he refused to tell us anything, should we find another scout?" said Chen the man who killed the scout.
"No, they'll expect us to do that it'll be fun to play with them a little bit. Lay low and don't do anything for now", he said and left. The moment he got out his phone rang.
"What?", he asked nonchalantly, but with just one sentence from the other line his blood boiled. "What?!" a faint glow of red appeared in his eyes and he dashed out immediately.
Meanwhile, Ying Yue had gone to the Jiang company's headquarters to meet her sister as she was supposed to help her with the conference. Since the world knew of her as the second daughter of the Jiangs she had to play along with them to keep their untainted reputation, for now, she was just their puppet.
Getting to the door she took a deep breath and walked in her head down, she didn't dare look into her sister's eyes.
But when she looked up at her sister she saw frustration written all over Mei Zhen her sister's face, she knew the shameless brat would still show up here. She had decided to teach her a lesson she would never forget.
"What are you doing here?" she asked her voice full of fury, as she walked tauntingly towards her and slapped her cheek which left a big red mark, the workers around stopped what they were doing focusing their attention on the Jiang siblings to Mei Zhen's pleasure.
"How dare you come here after what happened last night, don't you get it dad doesn't want you anymore, you were never truly part of the Jiangs and you'll never be", then she raised her hand to slap the dumbfounded girl again, pleased at the fact she had showed up again so she could finally get rid of this pest. Someone immediately grabbed her hand and she winced in pain at how tightly her hand was held.
"Mind your manners Miss Mei Zhen", said Lui Feng still holding her arm to cause her pain making the confused Mei Zhen look up at him, tears burning but she refused to let them fall. "Or else you might get in trouble", after that, he left her arm grabbed Ying Yue's arm took her to his car put her in the passenger seat, and drove away leaving Mei Zhen and everyone on the scene dumbfounded.
"What are you staring at, get back to work or you're fired", she said angrily unable to hide her embarrassment.
At the same time, Lui Feng drove away quietly, his annoyance was evident but Ying Yue sat quietly next to him. After a while he suddenly stopped and hit the steering wheel with full force, he clenched his fists and got out of the car and she followed suit, terrified and confused.
"How could you still be the same in this life? If you keep this up you'll eventually get yourself killed again!" his voice seething with anger. Although she didn't understand what he was saying she started to tear up, it seemed tears were going to be a regular occurrence for her.
She had trouble crying in front of people but for some reason in front of this man crying had seemed to start to become a habit. She felt like she could finally let it all out despite her slight embarrassment.
"You can't keep doing this, you can't let others keep hurting you and remain silent", he said his voice becoming gentle and comforting. "If you do you'll hurt people who care about you", he said and took her in his arms trying to comfort her and stop her tears.
"I'm sorry", said Ying Yue though she didn't know where that came from but she felt she had really hurt him, this was also the first time she wasn't saying sorry out of fear. He let go of her then he rubbed off the tears on her face, took her back to the car, and drove her home, to his home.
When they got to the Lui pack mansion he took her to his room and sat her on the bed. She had stopped crying and her throat was dry and she didn't say a word she just stared at him, she shouldn't be here but she sure as hell didn't want to go back to the Jiang mansion.
"Get some rest, if you need anything the maid will get it for you, make sure to call for me if you need anything. If there's nothing else I'll take my leave", he said with her unable to decipher what he was feeling with the tone of his voice. He headed towards the door.
"Wait", she said out of impulse, he looked back at her. "Who are you? And why are you helping me?" she said finally making eye contact, she had just met this man and for some reason she trusted him. It felt like they had known each other for a long time.
"Get some rest", he sighed and replied then attempted to leave, when she got up and grabbed his arm.
"I won't until you tell me", she said her voice firm and demanding. He stared at her and she looked back at him not backing down, but he just smiled at her.
"Lunch? Perfect let's eat", he said then carried her to the dining hall and ordered that no one entered the hall until he said so.
He carried her downstairs and she hid her face in his shirt when she realized people were secretly staring. She couldn't count the number of times she had kicked for him to put her down while they were still upstairs, but he seemed to be made of steel as all of it had no effect on him.
He put her down at the right-hand of his seat and signaled for the maid to serve the food and when the food was served he started eating without saying a word.
"So you're not going to tell me anything", she said trying to sound nonchalant, but her expression exposed her. He smirked at her showing her he knew what she was doing.
"Patience, for a girl who didn't say anything when she was getting hit by her sister, you sure are impatient", he said to rile her up but it had the opposite effect, she immediately shut her mouth even though she had wanted to say something and sadness filled her eyes.
"Lui Feng", he said and she raised her head, stunned by his words
"Huh", she accidentally let out.
"Lui Feng that's my name", he said waiting to see her reaction. She knew he seemed familiar, how'd she get herself tangled up with a man like Lui Feng, what happened that night?
He was the most eligible bachelor in the whole of China, to say he was just rich and handsome was an understatement. He had many backings he was believed to be dangerous yet women still surrounded him as he was the owner of one of the leading corporations in China, the Lui Corporation.
Suddenly she couldn't eat anymore she wanted to know what he wanted from her, a man as powerful as him couldn't just be helping her without wanting something in return. The entire Jiang family couldn't even hold a candle to him!
"Then what do you want from me?" she asked staring at his godlike face. "Why are you always around me ever since that night?" she asked sipping some water, the situation had started to mess with her head.
"I guess I developed a crush on you", he replied and she immediately started choking on the water she had sipped, how could he say such a shrewd thing so casually?
She took a napkin to cough into and slightly covered her face, was he teasing her? She stopped choking on his words and composed herself and he chuckled and smiled showing off his fangs, she couldn't comprehend why she got flustered when he smiled.
"Why would you joke about such a thing", she said her face completely red, he looked into her eyes tucked her hair back in place, and whispered into her ear.
"I wasn't joking", and immediately her ears turned red and she left the dining hall and went to the room as fast as her legs could take her, when she realized how many stairs she had to climb, she kind of wished he carried her up. How was he even able to carry her down so many stairs without breaking a sweat?
When she got back to the room she just lay on the bed and stared at the ceiling she didn't realize that because of her the whole Lui pack had to wait for her to finish eating before they could and since it was an order from their Alpha they couldn't do anything about it.
'Who was the real Lui Feng?' she thought, she knew there was something he was hiding but what was it? Although around him she felt like a whole new person, like she wasn't a puppet or a pawn in a game, but what could he possibly want from a girl like her?
Lui Feng stood there watching her climb the stairs maybe next time she wouldn't kick him so hard not that it had any effect on him, she looked so cute when she hid in his shirt. He smiled inwardly thinking about it when Aiguo came in.
"Alpha we just got word that one of our scouts was killed, what should we do", he said urgency evident in his voice but he waited for his master's orders.
"We'll take care of it after dinner, let the pack in, and tell them to get ready to attack after dinner", he replied hopefully she would've fallen asleep by then. Aiguo nodded and left to call in the pack members.
Only God knew how much blood was going to be spilled tonight what the Alpha hated most was someone attacking one of his own, though he could do more damage on his own than anyone could, it was like a slap to his face.
No one truly knew what Lui Feng was capable of.
