Right before he left the protection program under the CCSS, Special Agent Grigory had offered him a friendly fight.

Even though Lin had levelled up considerably compared to the year before, he still felt like he had to be cautious when fighting with Grigory.

Grigory gave of a strange feeling. Lin hadn't fought him before, but he was a bit wary of him. Over the past few months of being in heavy lockdown under the protection of the CCSS agents, Lin learned that Grigory was a field agent until just a few years ago, when he willingly chose the life of the paperwork over the field job. It seemed his reason to leave was that he didn't feel the same about the field work as he used to anymore. Grigory felt like he wasn't up to the task, which made him feel like he didn't belong in that field, as he would only be a burden to others.
