In the room.
Shingen Yashida's expression was gloomy, and the phone was held in his hand.
"I can't find it, it's all useless!" He muttered in a low voice, his frustration simmering.
Suddenly, there was a loud cry outside the door, and Ishiro Yashida was dead! Shingen Yashida was slightly shocked, picked up the phone, and made another call.
"I don't care what resources you use, but I must see the so-called Sacred Gates before dawn! Noburo Mori:, you should be well aware that if Mariko takes over the company, your marriage to her will be off the table! You're the Minister of Justice, not someone to be trifled with!"
Noburo Mori is Mariko's fiancé and the Minister of Justice; their marriage is undoubtedly a political arrangement. However, from Yashida Shingen's tone and attitude towards Mori, it's clear that he is just a subordinate.
As the son of Shiro Yashida, Shingen Yashida had to deal with the aftermath.
Yashida Ichiro's body was removed, and the funeral arrangements were made public. This outcome had been expected by Shingen, especially given the deteriorating health of the old man in recent days. Many preparations had been made in advance.
After more than an hour of busyness, the house once again fell into silence.
However, there were mixed emotions among the people present—some mourned, while others remained indifferent.
Yashida Shingen returned to his room, removed his suit, unbuttoned his shirt, and prepared to change into comfortable clothes for some rest. When he turned around, he suddenly noticed an unexpected intruder in his room!
"Who are you?"
Someone had dared to enter his room without permission, which infuriated Yashida Shingen.
"Aren't you looking for me?" Max said with a smile.
"Looking for me? Are you the one from the so-called Sacred Gates responsible for killing the leader of the Black Ninja Clan?" Shingen demanded, his anger palpable. "How did you get in here, and were you not seen by others?"
"Please have faith in my professionalism," Max replied calmly.
Yashida Shingen scrutinized Max and spoke in a low, serious tone, "I don't care how you found out that I was looking for you. What matters is that if you play games with me, you'll pay dearly!"
After a brief pause, Shingen continued, "No matter what you do or whichever method you employ at the mourning hall tomorrow morning, I have only one request: Take Mariko with you! And don't return without my permission. Do you understand?"
"One million dollars, a satellite phone that can't be traced. I don't accept any other terms. When will it be ready, and when can I pick it up?" Max inquired with a smile.
"Agreed."
"You can have someone prepare it now, and I'll collect it once I'm finished."
"Very well!"
Yashida Shingen turned around and discovered the phone inside the suit he had just removed. He prepared to leave immediately, but to his surprise, Max was nowhere to be found.
The windows remained still, and the doors had not budged.
Only five or six seconds had passed since he turned to pick up the phone. How could Max have vanished so quickly?
"You don't need to seek him out any longer. He's come to us. Prepare one million dollars and a secure satellite phone. Be ready to move immediately!" Yashida Shingen dialed a number and gave his instructions. After hanging up, he remained somewhat perplexed. He glanced around the room, struggling to recollect how he had left it.
As Yashida Shingen concluded the call, Max emerged from his room.
Max had arrived over two hours ago. He had witnessed Wolverine meeting with Ichiro Yashida, observed Mariko, Yukio, and even saw Viper poison Wolverine to induce a coma, along with her placement of a device on Wolverine's heart to suppress his regenerative abilities.
At the same time, he had also witnessed the supposed demise of Yashida Ichiro.
Viper, a unique mutant with the ability to heal, regenerate, and release toxins, was behind Yashida Ichiro's apparent death. Her profound knowledge of toxins allowed her to deceive doctors and the hospital staff.
As Yashida Ichiro's body was removed, she quietly departed.
Wolverine remained unaware of the intrusion and fell into a deep slumber. Apart from Viper and Wolverine, there was another concealed mutant, Yukio.
While it was not explicitly stated in the movie whether she possessed mutant abilities, she had mentioned several times her ability to foresee others' deaths.
This was an intriguing ability.
However, Max did not immediately seek out Yukio. Instead, he made his way to Mariko's room.
After all, she was the primary objective of his mission, and it was only natural to observe her closely. Despite having gathered information about Mariko from the film, as the saying goes, seeing is believing, and he couldn't entirely trust the data until he saw it with his own eyes.
