Kapitel 20: Door Underfoot

After Max emerged from the room, he noticed the figures of Ninjas as they departed. It appeared that Wolverine's arrival was imminent. Gazing around, Max spotted Viper in the distance, who then entered a nearby room. Max quietly followed suit.

Viper had originally been aligned with Mariko, but it was now apparent that she had betrayed her.

In the movie, she had been struck by Harada but managed to survive with an arrow wound. She shed her skin and recovered. Later, Yukio had strangled her with a cable, breaking her neck and ending her life.

But now there is no Harada as Max has already killed him earlier.

Earlier Max had asked Mariko about the Viper not out of curiosity but rather a sense of regret at her demise.

She possessed immunity to all toxins, could regenerate from injuries by molting, and could release deadly toxins.

Whether it was Ichiro's fake death, Shingen's poisoning, or the venom she had specially prepared for Wolverine, she had proven highly effective.

She was also a chemist and scientist who could utilize Adamantium to craft the Silver Samurai armor. Her death here would indeed be a loss. And Max had many plans that needed her.

....

Max entered the room and, upon doing so, found the Viper with her back turned, in the process of putting on a green leather jacket.

Why would she collaborate with Mariko? Her objective had to be securing the financial resources of the Yashida Group to conduct medical research, potentially harnessing the Self-healing Ability.

Despite her ability to shed her skin, she was not truly immortal. She desired the Self-healing Ability!

The reason behind her betrayal of Mariko was likely straightforward: she saw the potential for success in Ichiro's plan.

Once successful, she would need to conduct further research to assess any potential side effects or consequences. Therefore, from the outset, it appeared that the Viper had never truly intended to cooperate with Mariko.

Mariko's aim was power, Yukio's goal was freedom, and the Viper's ambition was the Self-healing Ability.

....

The Viper changed her attire and then exited the room. Max had no intention of revealing himself just yet; he simply followed suit.

Half an hour later, an unconscious Wolverine was brought in. Wolverine remained in a coma, securely fastened to a special chair, his hands immobilized.

Wolverine slowly regained consciousness, and as soon as he realized his predicament, he began to struggle vigorously, though his efforts proved futile. His eyes darted around until they landed on the approaching Viper.

"Where's Mariko?" Wolverine demanded in a deep voice.

"Mariko? Still fixated on Mariko, huh…"

Viper drew near Wolverine and while he cast a shocked glance at the samurai armor nearby.

"Impressed by this? It's forged from Adamantium, much like yourself."

Wolverine hesitated for a moment, then suddenly realized that his position had changed. His arms were involuntarily stretched out, and his body leaned forward.

Viper, wearing a sly smile, stood opposite Wolverine. Wolverine extended his adamantium claws with force, but they merely passed through both sides of the venomous snake's body. Viper chuckled without panic and stepped back slightly.

"The claws are out; now we can begin," the Viper remarked with a grin, and at that moment, there were a few audible clicks.

Wolverine's adamantium claws were unexpectedly immobilized and couldn't be retracted.

Simultaneously, the silver samurai armor by his side sprang to life!

The imposing silver samurai armor strode over to Wolverine's side, drawing a katana from its sheath with a sinister chuckle. Its hands clenched the blade, which rapidly turned red-hot.

With both hands raised high, it swung the blazing katana toward Wolverine's claws!

In a flash of lightning and sparks, just when Wolverine was growing somewhat desperate, a door suddenly materialized beneath the Samurai's foot!

This caused the Samurai to lose its balance, as if stepping on thin air. The katana, originally aimed at Wolverine's claws, changed direction and struck the chair that held him captive. There was a resounding crash as the chair split apart instantly.

Wolverine tumbled to the ground, his gaze fixed on the mysterious door beneath the Samurai, a sense of trepidation lingering within him.

"Could this door be connected to that guy? Is he here? Did he save me?"

While Wolverine pondered these questions, the Samurai withdrew its foot, gripping the katana with both hands and charging toward him!

Meanwhile, Viper retreated quietly, sensing that something was amiss with the appearance of the peculiar door. Step by step, she backed towards the central spiral staircase, prepared to make an escape. However, at that moment, arrows shot out suddenly.

Psst!

The Viper was struck instantly, turning to look in shock as Black Ninja Clan members, bows in hand, stood beside Mariko.

Boom!

The unconscious Viper tumbled uncontrollably over the railing of the revolving corridor.
