Kapitel 15: Chapter 15: Original Avengers Roster
"Let's analyze the information revealed in this question," Nick Fury said, scanning Natasha Romanoff and Tony Stark before speaking up.
"First, we can be sure that the Chitauri are brought by Loki," Natasha Romanoff said. "Loki made it clear in the video, 'My people are coming' and 'I have an army.' There's no doubt he was referring to the Chitauri army."
"A god leading an alien army to invade Earth," Tony Stark shrugged, looking incredulous. "Sounds like some ridiculous story fabricated by those Hollywood B-list screenwriters who can't even afford their rent. But it's going to happen in less than a day. Is there anything more absurd than that?"
"Loki's motive might give us some clues," Nick Fury said. "In the video, Stark told Loki, 'You'll never be king.' Could Loki be doing all this to become king?"
"But there's no king on Earth," Tony Stark interjected. "Well, okay, our dear president can be considered a 'king' in some sense, but he's just a puppet, a spokesperson for the big corporations and politicians who push him to the forefront. Does Loki really want that position?"
"No, the 'throne' Stark mentioned in the video definitely can't be the presidency," Nick Fury shook his head, denying Tony Stark's assumption.
"Could it be Odin's position?" Natasha Romanoff suggested another possibility. "Odin is known as the king of the gods, right?"
"That makes sense, but if Loki wants Odin's position, why doesn't he go after Odin instead of attacking Earth?" Nick Fury furrowed his brows. "Odin isn't on Earth!"
"Are you sure Odin isn't on Earth?" Tony Stark countered. "Are you certain?"
Tony Stark's question left Nick Fury speechless. If someone had told him in the past that Odin might be on Earth, he would have scoffed and dismissed it. But now, after watching several future videos, he couldn't be so sure.
If Thor and Loki would repeatedly come to Earth in the future, why couldn't Odin have come to Earth in the past?
After all, he was the king of the gods. Not discovering his presence was a failure on his part, just basic incompetence, right?
"Stark, it's better if Odin isn't on Earth," Nick Fury suddenly felt a headache coming on. If even the king of the gods was on Earth, this world would truly be in chaos.
Who was Odin? The king of the gods, the leader of the gods!
If the leader came to Earth, then where were the other gods?
"Genius, don't worry for now. I was just casually mentioning it," Tony Stark said. "The possibility of Odin being on Earth is still very low."
"Even if it's low, as long as we can't completely rule it out, there's still a risk," Nick Fury said solemnly. "It seems like searching for Odin and other gods hiding among humans should also be on our agenda."
"Genius, are you serious?"
"In a situation like this, it's like a man diagnosed as infertile hearing someone point at his son and say he's the result of his wife cheating with another man. It's better to believe it exists," Nick Fury said firmly.
"Another piece of information revealed in this video is that the Avengers Initiative was successful," Natasha Romanoff spoke up.
"That's right," Tony Stark nodded. "And I'm one of the members. Never thought I'd join this boy band. Seriously, Fury, don't you think the name 'Avengers' is lame? 'Iron Ensemble' sounds better."
"No, the name holds significant meaning," Nick Fury replied, reaching up to touch his eyepatch. That woman had been traveling through space all these years, and he wondered how she was doing.
"Are you seeking revenge against the person who blinded you?" Tony Stark asked. "Is that why you named it Avengers Initiative?"
"Stark!" Nick Fury suddenly walked up to Tony Stark, asking earnestly, "I'm assembling a team to protect this world, and the name of that team, which you find tacky, is the Avengers Initiative. I'm inviting you to join this team. Will you accept?"
"Sure, I'm in!" Tony Stark joined without hesitation.
In the past, that wouldn't have been possible, but after learning about the Chitauri and Loki, Tony Stark knew he couldn't resist alone. Only by uniting together would they have a chance.
"Welcome, Stark! From now on, you're an official member of the Avengers Initiative!" Nick Fury's mouth formed a smile. Tony Stark had been someone he believed in from the beginning, and after learning about his future sacrifice for others, Fury was even more satisfied with him.
"Besides me, Romanoff should also be a member of the Avengers Initiative, right?" Tony Stark said. "'A pair of elite assassins,' it must refer to Romanoff and Barton."
"Correct. In my plan, both Romanoff and Barton are members of the Avengers Initiative," Nick Fury confirmed. "'A pair of elite assassins' refers to Romanoff and Barton."
"Clint Barton was initially controlled by Loki with the Mind Stone, but based on my words in the video, it seems he recovered," Tony Stark mentioned.
"Seems like those controlled by the Mind Stone can recover," Natasha Romanoff remarked. "That's good news."
"Stark, Romanoff, Barton, in addition to you three," Nick Fury said, "the future Hulk and Thor will also be members of the Avengers Initiative, and of course, Captain America."
"It sounds great to have a god on our side," Tony Stark gave Nick Fury a thumbs-up. "Future you did an incredible job. You even managed to convince a god."
"And future me convinced you, so what's strange about convincing a god?" Nick Fury questioned.
"Hey, Fury, I suddenly remembered how you convinced Thor," Tony Stark switched to sarcastic mode. "When he saw you, he must have thought of Odin since you both have one eye and are equally annoying."
