“Yeah.” I could picture him shaking his head in disgust. “When can you be at headquarters?”
“I’ve got a case I need to wrap up, but once that’s done…Probably about an hour. Um…do you have any objections if I ask Max to assist?”
“No, but he’ll have to check his schedule.” I knew he was running that DNA test, and I wanted that done soonest. “And send the bill to me.” This wasn’t WBIS business. It didn’t matter whether the kid was mine or not; the woman had died trying to protect him. I had no doubt about that. Once the autopsy was complete, I’d see she got a decent burial. Guts deserved to be repaid.
