—-Chapter 41/1. Interlude: Debut of the Worst of the Generation—-

It was the same thing every day, every night.

Stuck in the coldest, smallest cell in the block, Charlotte Daifuku was left to ponder the same agonizing questions.

He had made a mistake... He had committed a crime. He had failed in his duty. And, worst of all, he had tarnished her pride.

But why…

In all these years — sixteen, to be precise!

Why…

Why hadn't she come to rescue him yet?

It was unlike her to abandon her own, even when they had failed her so terribly.

Lost in the perpetual darkness of the lowest level of Impel Down, Daifuku had cycled through every possible phase: self-doubt, self-pity, self-loathing, and more.

In the depths of uncertainty, he had cried out, yearning for his mother's love, only to lose himself to the dark recesses of his mind each time.

Yet, in this consuming darkness, one thought persisted — a grim light that cut through the shadows of his sins.

When his mother finally deemed his punishment fit, she would come to rescue him.

He was sure of it.

---

This is the story of a man with one dream — a dream so vivid, so consuming, that it became his destiny.

Many had laughed at his so-called 'ridiculous' ambition, dismissing it as the whimsy of a child. But for every mocking jeer and scornful word, he fought back — not always with fists, but with an unyielding will that burned within him.

"I will become..." he would begin, and though the words hung in the air like a challenge, fate itself would seem to nod in agreement, a subtle promise that his claim would one day be true.

What he desired, what he was willing to sacrifice everything for, lay beyond the reach of ordinary men. His destiny waited at the furthest edge of the world, a place shrouded in myth and guarded by the fiercest of trials. Only one man was rumored to have reached it, and even that was a tale told in whispers, half-believed and often doubted.

It wasn't mere hope that drove him to choose the most battered and reckless vessel on the seaboard to carry him toward this distant horizon. It was a belief, firm as the bedrock beneath the sea, that the universe itself would conspire to see him succeed. He would shake the world to its core, rewriting history with his own two hands.

But…

The world had already been shaken!

The universe, once steadfast, now teetered on the brink of chaos, and destiny — once a clear path — had begun to fray and tangle in unforeseen ways.

The path destined for this man in the Straw Hat was one of survival against impossible odds. He was fated to conquer the terrors of the deep, to withstand starvation, and to emerge stronger with each trial. But that was not how it began.

Before he could even leave his hometown, he was met with disaster. The sea claimed him before his journey could truly start, and as he sank beneath the waves, fate itself seemed to recoil, struggling to pull him back from the brink of the abyss. It cursed the old hag who had unwittingly set these events in motion, but fate was not without mercy — or persistence.

Despite this rocky start, Monkey D. Luffy found his way back to the surface, coughing seawater from his lungs, his resolve as unbreakable as ever.

He did not wallow in his near defeat. Instead, he reignited the fire within those who had placed their trust in him. With a grin that defied the odds, he struck down the Sea King that had nearly ended his dream, and with unwavering conviction, he declared for all to hear:

"I will become..."

His voice carried across the sea, a promise not just to those around him but to the universe itself. He vowed to be more careful, more prepared — but the boy who was so quick to promise was also quick to forget.

He ran out of food and water faster than he had anticipated — much faster. His ship, already barely seaworthy, was wrecked in a sudden storm. With no other options, he squeezed himself into a barrel, clinging to the belief that he would survive, all the while fantasizing about the feast that awaited him at the end of his journey.

The irony was not lost on him — what if the One Piece was an all-you-can-eat meat buffet? He laughed at the thought, a carefree sound that echoed in the confines of his makeshift refuge.

Days passed, and still, he drifted. But the universe, though bruised and battered, had not given up on him. After countless hours, the barrel he had placed his faith in found its way aboard a ship — a ship he was always meant to be on. It was as if the stars themselves had aligned to bring him to this point.

When he finally emerged from his barrel, dramatically as ever, he introduced himself to the first person he met — a timid boy who could only stare in awe as Luffy filled his mouth with chunks of meat.

"I am Monkey D. Luffy. I am the man who will become the King of the Pirates!"

His fate had been hacked, rewritten, and nearly erased, but through sheer will and tenacity, Luffy managed to keep his dream alive. Perhaps, just perhaps, he would still shake the world, just as it had always been foretold.

But remember, the world had already been shaken. And on the opposite side of the journey of this boy-who-calls-himself-a-man-and-clings-to-his-straw-hat-and-really-loves-meat, was another man — another boy who...

Had already conquered the world!

"Hmm..." I savored the moment, letting out a satisfied sigh. "So good."

"You like that, Papa?" the elegant attendants massaging my body quivered with anticipation, their voices laced with a yearning for approval.

I nodded with a contented smile, signaling my appreciation for their attention.

They were the best, I thought, leaning back to enjoy the warmth of the sun on my face.

The sun blazed fiercely, so intense that it could scorch skin in mere moments — but not when you had loyal servants, willing to shield you from its rays, just for the privilege of basking in your presence.

The heat surrounded me, radiating not only from the sky above but also from the hot butter beneath my luxurious chaise, its warmth courtesy of Charlotte Galette's powers.

A fresh supply of water fruits and other delicacies was always within reach, keeping me nourished and hydrated as I reveled in the company of the women who surrounded me on the highest deck of the Queen Mama Chanter.

A glance at the makeshift chocolate-filled swimming pool beside me confirmed it — I was the happiest man in the world. The sight of the women frolicking in the warm, sweet liquid as it clung to their skin was a sight to behold.

It was satisfying, peaceful... Yet, somehow, not enough. I craved more.

What wouldn't I give to have specimens like Boa Hancock serve me in the same way, bathing in chocolate for my pleasure?

Well, I was already in pursuit of the finest women to join my harem. Baby 5 had been a delightful addition — her eagerness to be needed made everything all the more... pleasurable.

The serenity, the peace that came with being on top... It was no longer lonely, and I was content. Perhaps the happiest I could ever be.

My gaze drifted upward, silently thanking whatever gods had brought me to this world and granted me such power and privilege.

As I offered my gratitude to the stars, I noticed the approach of a news coo. My heart sank slightly as the bird swooped down, delivering a newspaper to my right-hand attendant. She passed it among the other bodyguards — mostly my sisters and a few other... exotic treasures.

Smoothie, dressed in a bikini, her body glistening despite the scorching sun, sighed as she glanced at the headline, her expression telling me everything.

"Let me guess," I said, lazily reaching for the newspaper. "The government isn't too happy with my latest actions."

The bodyguards chuckled, their cheeks flushing as they reminded me that not every paper covered the exploits of the youngest Emperor of the Sea.

"Hand it over," I commanded, but Smoothie teased me, tossing the newspaper toward the ladies in the swimming pool.

It was a playful challenge, and I couldn't resist when they played hard to get.

But before I could fully rise and join in the fun, our moment of indulgence was abruptly interrupted.

A man's presence — rare and unwelcome — caused the women to squeal and retreat into hiding, leaving me scowling in irritation.

There was a strict policy: no males allowed.

The intruder was however the second most powerful person in my crew.

"We're almost there," he announced with an air of authority.

"Katakuri..." I muttered darkly. He was an elder brother, my Haki Master, and my appointed First Mate.

"How long until we arrive?" I asked while dressing, knowing that his call meant it was time to prepare for battle.

"A few minutes," he replied, his voice steady and sure.

"And the giants unit?" I continued, anticipating the response.

"You know how she is," Katakuri sighed. "They'll arrive when she thinks it's dramatic enough."

"I see," I replied, subtly stretching to suppress the rising frustration with Hela's characteristic insubordination.

But I couldn't deny her effectiveness — under Big Mom, she had proven her worth time and again. Even now, years after Mama's death, Hela's loyalty remained unshaken, a crucial link that kept the giants on our side.

"I'm leaving you and Brother Peros in charge," I commanded, entrusting the administration of Big Mom's Grand Fleet to Katakuri and my eldest brother while I focused on what came next.

"I almost feel sorry for them," Katakuri remarked, his tone carrying a mix of respect and forewarning. "Try to take it easy this time."

"Zeus!" I called out, dismissing his concern with a wave, my eyes already fixed on the task ahead. "Whatever are you talking about?"

A shriveled cloud materialized before me, and I sneered in disdain, memories of his past cowardice flashing through my mind. Zeus was not up to the task.

"Prometheus!" I summoned, and a more impressive fireball appeared, radiating heat and power.

Climbing atop Prometheus, I glanced back at Katakuri, a smirk playing on my lips. "I only intend to introduce myself."

Katakuri chuckled softly, watching as I soared away, cutting through the wind with the flames of my resolve burning bright.

---

The subtle darkness that began to settle as I approached the destination might have suggested that night was falling. But I knew better. This was the nature of the place — a looming shadow cast by the giant perimeter wall that encircled it, designed to deter any foreign ships from breaching its defenses.

I knew this fortress well, having spent years meticulously planning for this very day. Yet, all that knowledge was irrelevant now. The destruction I was about to unleash would reduce it to nothing more than a memory — a speck of dust in the wind.

As I gently descended on Big Mom's former Homie, Prometheus, a sudden shift in the air alerted me to the presence of others. My eyes scanned the horizon, quickly locking onto them.

Not one, not two... but three distinct figures stood there, as if awaiting my arrival.

"Akainu, Aokiji, and Kizaru..." I murmured, my eyes widening with recognition. The Three Navy Admirals, the pillars of Marine power, stood ready, as if they had been expecting me.

A bubble of excitement burst within me, adrenaline surging through my veins. "What a warm welcome!" I thought, my lips curling into a grin.

I whispered a silent apology to Katakuri, knowing full well that what was about to unfold would be anything but restrained. "Sorry Bro. I'm far too excited to take it easy on them."

With that, I invoked the power within me, my body swelling with anticipation and energy.

"MAXIMUM POWER:—…!"

I roared, summoning the Drums of War to beat in rhythm with my heart.

The world trembled as my body began to revert to it's giant form.

The Siege of Impel Down was about to begin, and the scores would be settled.
