"Leading out strong, huh, Cherry?" Mary mumbles over to me running her hand through her hair. I stay frozen by the bathroom curling my toes into the carpet for comfort.
"That is really important information, do you realize that Gamma?" The man growls towards her from the back of his throat, I take another step back trying to gather my wits. Is this the pack?
"I know, I know, but you were taking care of her, and she was knocked out cold… and to be fair I had no idea she was your…" Cherry pretends to zip her lips, "I am going to take care of the tomatoes."
"Wait!" I call out to her, but she doesn't stop leaving me along with the man that stares me down like one would an ice cream sandwich.
"Don't worry, you'll see her at dinner. Come, we have introductions to be made." He tries to grab my wrist, but I snatch it back holding it against my chest like one would a hostage.
"Did you not hear me? I am married and want to go home please. This was nice however, and thanks for the water with drugs," I clear my throat trying to keep a straight face, "But now I need you, handsome stranger, to take me home."
Was there a reason I said handsome? No. Did I enjoy calling him handsome? Yes.
"It's Levi. My name's Levi."
The reminder snaps back into my head, a small brain cell finally firing to rekindle the memory of him saying his name while I hung off his shoulder. My drunk self-stopped fighting and hung from him letting him take us to his truck in the middle of the night, Mary had already passed out.
The blacked-out thoughts rush back one by one, my stupid comments and brutal honesty mocking me all the way down to my final moments before the fall came crashing into me. I let my eyes widen, and Levi realizes what's happening holding his hands up in apprehension, "Cherry, please, we love the chase!" It's a warning I don't heed.
I book it before he could finish his statement. My feet are barely staying under me as I run through the large manor attempting to find any form of a staircase or exit. Ladies and men move out of my way, their heads bowing in passing. I don't take any time to analyze, my eyes landing on the front door, sun breaking through onto the hardwood flooring.
"Cherry!" His voice calls out, I look over my shoulder, his once blue eyes now a pitch black. What the fuck?
"Luna?" An older woman groans to me, opening the door with a confused look. I smile at her without bothering to correct and bolt.
The warm sun has heated the concrete to the point that my bare feet are doing a small jig as I run to keep them bottoms from burning alive. And while my steps are more frequent, I still manage to keep myself ahead of him, the driveway coming into view. Each step I take is one moment closer to freedom.
The forest dwellers are known for owning the land, but not many people can say they have seen it. Now that I have seen it, I would prefer to unsee it and be in the familiar evil of my husband. At least his crazy is predictable. My blistered feet work their way down the path and nothing seems to be stopping me until I reach the fields of the driveway.
"Cherry?" A friendly voice interrupts my survivor thoughts, Mary runs next to me with a smile. I give her one in return waving my hands down the path.
"I-I have to get out of here. He-" I didn't know how to explain, but Cherry understood grabbing my arm like before pulling me into soft moss grass behind a tree.
Her upper canines sit over her bottom lip, black specs floating throughout her normal green, "Cherry, know I love you and I wish I could explain however…" She takes a deep breath, her canine receding. I cover my mouth, the fear settling deep into the pit of my stomach, "I wasn't lying to you, I know I made jokes all the time when I shouldn't have but everything was the truth. Wolves are real, I'm real. Everything. And baby...Levi has claimed you, and," She sucks in snot, tears brimming in her eyes, "I can't go against him."
"What are you saying? Do you mean?" I try to tug myself from her grasp, her fingers lock tighter, her head turning away from me, "No, Mary! Mary please!"
Tears run down my face, hers following suite. I see the shadow of a man come from behind the tree, a sickening voice that cracks with every word, "Found you… mate."
"Please no, please no." I shake in her arms, Levi walking up to me with pure black pupils, his canines elongated over his bottom hip, and claws coming from his nails. I scream in terror, Mary pulling me into a hug, but the comfort leaves me quickly when Levi snatches me from her shoving me deep into his chest.
"You shouldn't have run, mate."
"Please… I want to go home." The predictable evil, I need it. I need my comfort.
He backs his head away, eyes and teeth back to normal and with a deep sigh responds to my plea, "Cherry, darling, you are home."
What do we think?
"I want you to know that I hate you." I spit pulling myself from his arms dropping back onto the floor of the bedroom.
"Darling this is a confusing situation-" He starts to ramble, and I hold up my hand not wanting to hear it. Levi takes a step towards me, a hand outheld. I look around in the room for another attempt to run, but this time he's like a linebacker waiting to tackle me.
"Confusing? This is more than just confusing! You are a fucking kidnapper." I seethe, yanking at the roots of my hair in an attempt to stay calm. Levi curses under his breath raising his hands in a defensive motion towards me.
"I am not going to hurt you, love."
"Not going to hurt me. Not going to hurt me?" A laugh slips from my lips, not humorous in any sense but I still try to keep myself together roaming around the room, "How can I trust you? What even's going on?"
The man walks around the room grabbing a cell phone holding it up to his ear after a series of numbers, "Bring the doctor, she's awake."
I raise a finger towards him, his delicious lips pausing to look at me, "Please, no doctors."
His face has an expression of pain, torment that built from my constant rejection. I see the hesitation in his face, the twitch of his fingers, before he continues the call, "Just send him up, I'll have her ready."
"You're such a dick!"
His eyes turn black, a speed I had never experienced overcoming him as he comes at me shoving us into a nearby wall. My breath stops, his chest heaving. I tug at my wrist, his hand holding them crossed above my head while the other hand lays on my hips. His chest presses against mine, "Say it again."
A bone deep confidence comes through me, a new energy I hadn't had before. I already have one man controlling my life, I don't need a second one, "Say what? That you're a fucking dick?"
"That was a mistake, love." His voice is coarse, a ripple of goosebumps rising over my skin as he leans into me. I try to hold my breath afraid of the smell, but soon enough I am as red as a tomato my chest begging me for air, "Breathe, mate."
And so, I did.
He trails his hand to the base of my shirt, the other still holding my wrist together. I squirm under his electric touch, my brain going to fuzz when he makes skin contact slipping underneath the band rising up towards my bra. He hears the intake of breath, my heart hammers against my chest, "Levi, please."
He seems to take my plea as something different than what I expected, and while my body desires him way more than it should, my plea was him to step away. He doesn't take it as such getting closer to me, his eyes raking over my body that is held captive in front of him, "Please what." His tone is seductive, an encouragement towards something I never wish to partake in.
"Let me go. Please, let me go." I sound like a mouse, but it's loud enough that he backs off letting me drop my hands to my sides, "Thank-thank you." I shake in my dress, my legs barely wanting to keep me up. Is this true fear?
A knock on the door halts any conversation that could have stemmed from that. I give an honest attempt to smile, Levi giving me a corrective glare before he opens the door to the white-haired male. He holds a bag on his hips, and a smile on his face. If I wasn't in my current predicament, I would have assumed him to be friendly, "Hello Luna, Alpha. Both good to see." He pauses at the doorway looking at Levi with a knowing grin, "And congrats, Alpha."
"Come in Sanders, always a pleasure." He waves him in, I back away into the farthest corner of the room attempting to hide myself.
Sanders looks over at me, a hand outreached, "Hello, Luna." His voice is timid like talking to a child that might run for the hills. I feel my heart pick up, and watch his very human ears flick towards me, "No need to freak out. Your heart rate is all over the place. I am a friend."
I stay silent trying to figure a way out of this situation, but Levi stands behind him watching and waiting for whatever my gears finally settle on doing. Sanders stops a few feet from me, and I release the breath I had been holding.
"It's very nice to meet you, I understand your human correct?"
He gets a nod.
"Okay, great. Thank you. Alpha, can you please excuse us for a moment." Sander looks over his shoulders, Levi lowering his brows in typical manly disagreement, Sanders waves him off, "It will be best if I do this without you. I promise you can stand right outside the door."
Levi shows a single elongated canine exiting the room per the request of the doctor. Does he plan to hurt me?
"My name is Fredrick Sanders, I am the pack doctor. I have a mate and two kids that are both married and transferred to other packs." He goes to sit on the ground cross legged offering me a floor seat in front of him. I slide down the wall keeping my back against it, but settle onto the floor, "Tell me about yourself."
I take a moment to ponder my options, the only one being to play along until I get an opening, but even then any book I have ever read it went wrong, "My name is Cherry. Cherry Bloom. I am married and work at the lab in town."
"Any kids, Cherry?" He clicks a pen, a notebook outheld.
"No, no kids." Thankfully, while my horrid husband has been wanting them for years, him and I just are compatible, "I was told I can't conceive."
That isn't even a moment of the truth, just a failsafe if their plan was to rape me for more demon wolves. Sanders nods slowly, "It is common for humans not to be able to conceive with anyone but their mates. It keeps them from producing outside of the mate bond in which they aren't familiar. When you get more comfortable, we can get you into our female pack doctor, my wife. She can do a quick examination to decide if that's really the case, but I highly doubt it you being mated with an Alpha."
"I don't want to do that."
He raises his hand, palm out towards me the pen dangling between his thumb and pointer, "Of course." Sanders writes something else down, a scribble that I can't make out from the distance.
"What is his plan with me?"
"Plan?" Sanders laughs, shaking his head, "The Alpha lost hope in his mate, he doesn't have one. His only thoughts are to keep you near and get you pregnant."
My eyes bulge from my head, the pack doctor realizing his mistake, "No, no, not like that. As your male counterpart he has an overwhelming attraction towards you. He wants to be with you in all ways, and as wolves we only have a select amount of time that we can bear children called the Heat. For our pack, the Heat is coming soon, and his wolf is stirring with the need to produce the pack an heir."
"I am not interested in any of that." I dig my feet into the soft carpet looking around the room to find something I hadn't seen before, but nothing comes into my sights.
"Give it time, dear." He takes a breath before continuing, "As the pack doctor one of my duties is to help you transition into our pack life. I get you supplements, monitor your physical and mental health, and perform routine checks to make sure your adjustment is healthy."
"What… what do I need these checks for?"
He pinches the bridge of his nose, closing his eyes for a moment, "Being with an Alpha… has its challenges. His wolf demands a certain amount of activity and you being human might not be able to handle such. I am here to help you adjust, keep you physically healthy so you can enjoy your mate."
Is he speaking of sex? Levi having needs that I won't be able to physically meet because of my human body. What in the-, "I won't be needing those. I plan to go home."
The doctor sighs adjusting himself on the carpet, "That won't be happening dear. Levi has claimed you, and in that means you are to stay here on pack grounds. Your life is in serious danger, any other wolf can kill you with means to get to him. As the strongest Alpha, in size and stature, he is a constant target."
I place the back of my hand on the ground, palms facing up as I beg, "Please, Sanders, please help me."
The doctor stands up taking a moment to wipe off the non-existent dirt on his legs, "I'm sorry Luna. Please ask anything else of me and I will make it happen."
I fall silent. The doctor takes that as a dismissal leaving the room to meet with Levi. I stay in my position waiting for my personal hell to return. The blue-eyed beauty walks in, a small, forced smile gracing his douchey face.
"Are you hungry?"
"No." I cross my arms, looking away from him.
"Are you planning on fighting off food for a reason?"
"If I die you can't rape with me knowing."
He jerks back, eyes going wide, "I do not plan to rape you. When we make love you will be begging for my touch as much as I beg for yours."
"Either way, touch me, and I slit my own throat."
The black moves through his irises, the gruff returning with it, "You speak about your death so lightly?"
"Only when it comes to you." I spit. He calms himself down to a minor shake opening and closing his hands.
"Watch what you say to me, love, my wolf wants nothing more than to lock you in this room and have his way with you, and if that's the only way to keep you alive, then so be it."
"You would force me to stay living, even when I crave the release of death?"
Levi smirks, crossing his arms over his chest, "I would bring you back from the dead before I'd let you leave me."
What do we think? :) <3
