I screamed throwing the box on the ground making it's contents scatter on the ground.
I quickly click on the intercom requesting Mary's presence immediately. She came running due to the urgency in my voice.
"What the hell was that supposed to be? Who delivered this box to my office?"
"It was a courier that delivered the box."
I asked her to leave since she wasn't providing any useful information and I also didn't want her to know what the situation was like.
I looked at the contents on the ground and wondered what this person wanted with me.
'This was clearly a death threat as chrysanthemum flowers symbolizes death and my name was also written in blood.'
But who could this be and who might I have offended. I paced to and fro bitting on my fingernails thinking of all the people that might be holding grudges against me. But none came to mind.
My mind went back to the text that I treated as a spam.
'Could it be the same person?'
But I didn't have a boyfriend neither was I really friendly with any guy.... Wait!!!
'Andrew! He's the only guy that I've really been talking to recently.'
'Could it be one of his crazy girlfriends?'
'But we haven't really being seen in public together so there's no how people would that we are acquainted.'
'And the contract hasn't been officially finalized and announced so TV stations haven't gotten whiff of the news.'
I need to report this to the police as soon as possible, but before then I need to talk to Andrew about this. It might be related to him.
*****
I had called Andrew to meet me at a nearby cafe for lunch but he was running late. I had ordered for a glass of water as my throat was parched due to the scorching sun.
I waved my hands the moment I saw him enter the building. He was dressed in grey suit pants and a white shirt. His hair was a little disheveled, and his face looked tired. But even with the tiredness, he still looked hot.
I shook my head to clear any thoughts running through my mind. This definitely wasn't the time for that.
"Sorry I'm late. I got stuck in a meeting" He took the seat opposite me and called for the waiter.
He placed his order and brought his attention back to me.
"It's fine. It hasn't been long I arrived." I accepted his apology like it didn't matter when I had waited a long time before he came.
"So what's up. You said it was important. Is this about the dinner tomorrow?" He said taking a sip of his juice.
"No, this is way more important. I think someone is stalking and threatening me."
"What do you mean by that? And what threats are you talking about."
"Few days back I received a strange text from an unknown number but I thought it was a spam message, but today someone delivered this to my office"
I brought out the box from my bag and showed him. He pushed aside his food to take a look at it.
"What the hell!? Is that your name written in blood? And what's up with the flowers" He picked up the paper that had my name written in red to perceive it. He scrunched his nose at the smell and kept it back in the box.
"They're chrysanthemum flowers and they symbolize death. They're used at events related to death. For someone to send me this, the person must really want me dead."
"Nothing of that such will happen. Not under my watch. What was the content of the text you received."
I showed him the text which read 'Leave my boyfriend alone if you love your life.'
"Now this is serious. Do you have an idea of who this might be? Or do you have a guy that's currently present in your life?"
"He might not be your boyfriend but the sender might've misinterpreted it."
"No, there's really nobody I can think of. Well, except you."
"Me?? What do you mean by me. Are you saying that someone close to me might have a hand in this. That's unthinkable."
"No matter how I think of this, you're the only person that comes to mind. You're the only guy I'm currently close to. Maybe one of your endless chicks thinks we are dating and decided to pull this stunt."
I raised my voice a little at the last statement. I was already getting worked up, it's not everyday one gets threatened because of a man.
"I'm a hundred percent sure that this isn't my fault and I'm going to prove it to you. I don't date crazy people. When I end things, I make it clear to them so that they wouldn't cling onto me."
"Geez. You reputation really precedes you. From the way you spoke I can tell that your exes can fill up this room."
"Anyway, I'll be glad if you can look into this for me. I wanted to report first to the police but I decided to talk to you since this might be linked to you."
"No need reaching out to the police. I'll get my PI to look into the matter. Forget about that now, Are you okay?"
He reached for my hand on the table and held it in his giving it a little squeeze."You must be pretty shaken up with everything going on. It's not everyday one gets threatened."
I smiled faintly at his little gesture "I guess I'm a little bit okay. Shocked, but I'll get over it."
"That's good to hear. I'm really glad you called for me, even though it's because you think someone related to me have a hand in it. I'm glad you thought of me as someone you can rely on."
"Well, I'm happy I have a friend to talk to. I feel a little relieved now that we talk about it" I said giving him a warm smile.
"Do you think you can sleep alone tonight? Want to come over to my place and spend the night?"
