Charlotte Cooper glanced at Henry Russell, saw his gentle gaze, and returned a warm smile.
Her face was covered in spots, an exaggerated mole was painted on her mouth, and her lips were covered in thick red lipstick. Her smile was somewhat scary.
Yet her eyes were perfectly pure, like autumn water, lovely and endearing.
Indulgence filled Henry's eyes. If the timing weren't wrong, he would've leaned in to kiss her right there.
Both of them were a bit surprised, but the doctor quickly came to his senses. Looking at the still astonished woman, he asked, "Miss, do you want an eye examination?"
"What the hell, I've said I'm not sick." She glared impatiently at the doctor, then turned to look at Henry again.
"Dr. Russell, how could you be so intimate with this ugly woman? Did you guys...?"
She couldn't continue and her face showed confusion as she stared at Henry.
"Ugly woman? She's clearly the most beautiful one."
