Because he believes that by seeing the future, he could balance the two out. 

He believes that the future holds a much bigger threat than what they think and he is proven right by the scenes he saw.

And he actually has a countermeasure against the Multiversal Convergence. 

He thought that if they go to the future, he would then return back only a few seconds after they left. 

But there were too many distractions along the way and so many unexpected things happened, thing that he could not predict or even anticipate.
