Chapter 200: A "Boring" Weekend

This really can't be considered much of a side effect. To be honest, compared to the side effects Alice had seen before, the fact that food tasted bland was really trivial.

Moreover, the side effect only occurred while wearing it. Once taken off, it would be fine. Once taken off...

Amon!

Alice seriously considered what would happen if she invoked the angel's name and cursed him.

Amon wouldn't do anything to her; he would just laugh happily because of her outburst, very happily...

Alice ground her teeth and vowed that if she ever had the chance, she wouldn't let Amon off.

...Insane!

After cursing pointlessly in her mind, Alice began to think about what she should do.

She wasn't familiar with curses, and it was absolutely impossible for her to break this curse on her own.

Besides asking Klein if he could find external help and seeking assistance at the Tarot Club, Alice pondered for a moment and wrote a letter to Bernadette:

"Are you familiar with curses?"

The letter was just one short line, as concise as always. Alice naturally sent the letter and began thinking about her next option for help.

...The Goddess?

Alice instinctively resisted this option, not out of embarrassment, but because in her mind, the Goddess, who was more like an elder, might...

Forcefully separate her from Amon?

After all, in Alice's impression, adults were always afraid their children would be led astray. Although the Goddess might know she was hanging out with Amon, Alice still decided to put the Goddess as her second-to-last option.

—After all, Alice thought, the mystical connection from praying to Amon was secondary; the main reason was that even if she prayed to Amon, he wouldn't lift this damn curse.

Alice sighed deeply again and thought of another possibility.

Although the Church of the Night served the Goddess, the church and the Goddess were not the same, and the lower-level Beyonders even more so—in other words, she actually had the option of seeking help from the Church of the Night.

But not now... Realizing it was Saturday, Alice frowned and decided to wait until after Monday's Tarot Club meeting.

She quickly realized that if she did this, she would probably... Wait, Bernadette's reply came so quickly?

Alice opened the suddenly appearing envelope. The reply was as concise as her own letter, with just one word: "Familiar."

Alice stared at the curt response, lost in thought.

After a moment of silence, Alice quietly put away the envelope, realizing that Bernadette was also not a good choice.

Forced to give up another option, Alice had to face a cruel fact—either she sought help from the Goddess or the Church of the Night now, or she endured a few more days of tasteless food.

"...So why can't I resurrect tomorrow? That way, I wouldn't be so conflicted!" Alice collapsed on the sofa in pain, deciding to give up her pride.

Alice took a deep breath, clasped her hands in front of her chest, and very ceremoniously assumed a praying posture, chanting in Ancient Hermes:

"Pointer of Time,

"Shadow of Fate,

"Embodiment of Deception and Mischief,

"I seek your attention,

"I seek your listening,

"Are you out of your mind, you *&%¥#@..."

Putting herself in Amon's shoes, Alice thought that if she sought Amon's help, he would probably provoke her until she couldn't help but curse. So, Alice decided to curse directly.

Amidst her passionate cursing, Alice heard the Time Angel's response, mixed with laughter:

"You're so noisy.

"This is the first time someone has invoked my name just to curse me... Hmm, it seems you really like my gift, so I'm relieved.

"Since you like it, keep wearing it, don't take it off."

Alice angrily kicked the sofa leg, then gasped in pain and retracted her foot.

"Force is mutual..." Alice muttered, deciding to quit this bad habit in the future.

She limped up from the sofa, decided to lie in bed and play dead, but fell into deep thought when she saw the empty hole where the doorknob should be.

"How am I going to explain this to the landlord?" Alice, encountering this situation for the first time, stood there blinking blankly.

—The hard part wasn't the compensation, but coming up with a reason unrelated to extraordinary events.

Alice was silent for a moment, seriously considering the possibility of telling the landlord that she woke up to find it like this.

Forget it, I'll think about it later... Alice shook her head, decisively deciding to stop thinking and lie down for a while.

Lying in bed, Alice stared at the ceiling, feeling she had lost interest in life.

Oh right, I need to remember to get my uniform back... Suddenly recalling something she almost forgot, Alice sat up abruptly.

...

After the thrilling adventure in Bansi Port, Klein received a message from Alice.

The content of Alice's message could be summarized as 90% cursing Amon and 10% recounting the events. From this ratio, Klein clearly felt Alice's breakdown.

She rarely gets this agitated... Listening to Alice's cursing, Klein inexplicably felt a sense of joy.

But the negative effect of that extraordinary item indeed made Klein laugh out loud. This negative effect might mean nothing to others, and although it would be painful if it couldn't be taken off, it wouldn't be so unbearable that one would break down.

But for Alice, there probably wasn't much worse than this.

After pondering for a moment, Klein replied to Alice's message: "I remember you didn't like Amon's monocle very much? Now you can wear it all the time, isn't that great?"

Unsurprisingly, in the next message, Alice cursed him along with Amon.

...

For Alice, this was an extremely "boring" weekend.

When she appeared at the Tarot Club on Monday, Alice was already wearing her newly launched skin.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Fool~" Audrey's familiar greeting sounded. She turned to the Tarot Club members one by one, intending to greet them as usual from "The Fool" to "The World," but once again got stuck at Alice.

She hesitated, looking at Alice's sack-like outfit, her eyes showing a faint confusion—was this a popular style somewhere?

Alice noticed Audrey's gaze and temporarily ignored the monocle that annoyed her, turning her head to ask:

"Good afternoon, Miss 'Justice'~

"Do you like my new skin?"

"Skin?" Audrey felt her brain stop working.

"Oh, clothes," Alice explained as if realizing something, "I used to have a habit of calling clothes skins..."
