60.82% Life As a Support Mage of The Protagonist / Chapter 59: Slaying The Goblin Chieftain

Kapitel 59: Slaying The Goblin Chieftain

As the army recuperates, with the less injured and tired guarding the entrance in case the goblins try to perform a sortie, a heated discussion happens between the higher-ups.

"We should attack while we still have the momentum!" the veteran captain exclaimed, the oldest of the town guards and one of the strongest and most capable strategists of them all.

"We should wait until our forces are fully healed, as it will cause greater casualties if we try to charge in just like that," Mr Grul exclaimed, taking the more conservative approach.

"If we wait they might regroup and who knew how many more nasty surprises they have prepared for us?!"

"If we attack right now we will suffer casualties we can avoid!"

As the two men argued, both Ian and Kell looked at the arguing elder with a frown.

"Why are we here again?" Ian asked.

"You are here to offer your thoughts on the matter. You are the one that contributes the most, so you should have some say in the matter," the veteran captain exclaims.

 "Is that so?" Ian mutter.

"Do you agree we should attack with more than half of our people injured or should we wait until they are healed?" Mr. Grul asked.

"Are the healers that busy?" Ian asked first.

"Unfortunately so. They are busy with more injured cases. Some supplies from the forward camp already arrive but it will take time to heal everyone when we need to strike now," the veteran captain insisted.

"In that case, I want a lot of mana potion," the two elders looked at him and said,

 "Huh?"

"Heal: Large Scale Area," he chanted, a white light emitted from him and shrouded the one with small injuries, as well as bruises.

"Everyone is slowly being healed," one of the healers said, looking at the healing men with awe.

Unfortunately, the healer is not in the best of place. Ian slumped and would have hit the ground if not for Kell catching him and proceeding to feed him the gathered mana potion.

He drinks all of it, his massive mana reserve can be a pain sometimes.

"I can only heal the small injuries. The deadlier injuries should be handled by the professional, plus, I will need more mana and we need more fighters," he explained to the two elders, who merely nodded.

"With this, we can continue our assault," Mr. Grul said.

"I thought you disagreed with such a plan," the veteran captain could not help but poke his fellow leader.

"The fighters that will join us are all healed up, so there is no reason for me to go against such a decision," the head explained.

"Let Ian and I charge in first," Kell volunteered the two of them.

The two elders nodded. "You both are our strongest fighters, so there is no reason to disagree with it,"

"Here is the plan Ian," Kell pulled him close.

"You will cast Arcane Bombardment into the enemy camp. But make sure it is close to the entrance so we will not be ambushed.

Then, I will charge into the camp first, attracting any ambushers that managed to survive your spell. You will follow me after I clear the group.

After that, it depends on how much resistance we face," Kell said solemnly.

Ian has a soft smile on his face. "You have grown. You are not dumb before, but you always think with your muscles first. Now, you actually make a decent plan. I am proud of you your big oaf,"

"Is that supposed to be a compliment?" Kell asked but nodded. "But yeah. We need a leader and the leader needs to make a decision. You are smarter but you will never accept it. So, I have to do it for both of us," he then grabbed Ian's shoulders. "But please come up with plans. I don't think we will survive if we depend on my brain alone,"

Ian laughed at the statement. "Of course your big oaf,"

-x-

As Kell planned, Ian used Arcane Bombardment and cleared the entrance. The bigger man charged where he was met with a hobgoblin and 3 goblins coming from behind.

It is something he dispatches easily. Ian followed soon after, yelling loudly, "There are no more monsters near the entrance," before blasting the entrance, and the walls next to it into smithereens.

The two hear more than see the charge of the army, as they are more focused on the goblin chieftain. Thankfully, they have seen the chieftain before, but the monsters still look intimidating.

It is as tall, maybe even taller than a hobgoblin but less stocky, its body is on the slender side, with some muscles. It has a wreath made out of bones and vines, and in its right hand, is a bone with a skull connected to it.

"I handle the minions, you handle the chieftain," Ian told Kell, who nodded.

The bigger man charged at the chieftain, who issued what sounded like a panicked order. The hobgoblins roared and charged at Kell.

"Well, he will not let them,"

He cast Multi Arcane Shot at hobgoblins, but they are tougher than the regular bunch. It did not make that much of a difference though, except for the time he took to kill them increased due to the toughness.

He was about to follow Kell when he spotted more goblins coming their way. He stretched his arms, a deranged smile on his face.

"Let's hope this will be somewhat entertaining,"

-x-

As Ian is dealing with the hobgoblins, and goblin shamans along with the lesser goblins, Kell is chasing after the goblin chieftain. The goblin chieftain ran away, before jumping towards him, the monster surprisingly agile.

It swung a rusted sword at him, Kell easily blocking it before a swing shattered the sword, sending the monster back.

The monster yelled again, calling upon its brethren as Kell spotted some hobgoblins charging at him. But before they can even come close, the monsters are obliterated with a single Arcane Blast.

"Kill that bastard, your oaf!" a familiar voice yelled.

He laughed out loud, as Kell charged the shocked chieftain. The monster tries to overwhelm him, trying to jump at him and throw anything it can get its hand on, but he is stronger, easily blocking the monster's pitiful attempt to kill him.

He then swung his sword, and a single slash removed an arm. The chieftain squealed like a pig as it clutched its bleeding arm. As another slash removed the other arm, Kell did not realize a goblin archer was nearby, ready to kill the one that dared to harm its chief.

An arrow sails through the air, almost hitting Kell but is blocked by a Shield. Before the archer could react, an Arcane Shot killed the monster, at the same time as Kell beheaded the chieftain, before grabbing the head and raising it.

 "The chieftain. Is dead."
