18.55% Life As a Support Mage of The Protagonist / Chapter 18: Exterminating A Goblin Nest

Kapitel 18: Exterminating A Goblin Nest

"So, this is the entrance," Fiona asked, looking at the hole. Thankfully the hole is big enough for Kell to fit in, not to mention the four smaller party members.

However, the question is not how to get it, but how to kill the goblins without getting hurt. After all, they did not take a torch, a mistake they will rectify in the future.

"Fiona, cast Light," Ian ordered. Before she could do it, Lisa asked, "Are we not worried the goblins can see us and attack us?"

Ian shook his head. "They will see us one way or another as they can see in the dark, but we can't," Lisa nodded in understanding, Fiona continued to cast Light.

A bright ball of light appeared on her staff. Thankfully, it is not as bright as the one used against the boar but it will still hurt their eyes if they look directly at it.

With a source of light, Ian began to make some arrangements, "Kell, you will be at the front. Ana, you are behind him, followed by Fiona, then me, then Lisa. Lisa, be careful. We don't know if some headed outside and will return so keep your vigilance," Ian reminded them one last time.

They entered the best, Kell moving with his shield at the front. They would have bought a metal shield but decided against it as they had just gotten a massive payday and using it all for now would be foolish.

With him at the front, Kell began to tank the arrows and stones thrown at him. His shield easily blocked all of the attacks, and the biggest member began to advance slowly.

Behind him, Ana keeps on her toes. While he would block most attacks, there would be some stones and arrows from the goblins and he needed to make sure the rear would be protected.

As they advanced, Kell at the front soon spotted a major threat, "A hob!" the group began to prepare themselves as Kell charged at the hobgoblin. The impact sends it staggering as it holds its stomach. Without a care, Kell beheaded the monster, the other goblins seeing it began to retreat.

"There must be a goblin shaman," Ian concluded, as the goblin is still organized despite losing a hobgoblin. Fiona and Lisa nodded.

Fiona moved near the front, her staff lighting the path. As for Ian, he walked next to her, ready to blast the monsters with Arcane Shot.

He then sensed a mana reserve deep inside. 'So that is where the shaman is at,' he thought, able to spot the whereabouts of the shaman using Mana Sense.

He walked to Fiona's right, to be able to see the shaman, who was at the left. Soon, he spotted a goblin wearing a robe holding a staff as it seemed to chant something in goblin-tongue.

Not planning to see what the creature is planning, Ian cast Arcane Shot, the magic blast hitting and directing the small goblin in half.

The death of the shaman seemed to cause a chain reaction, as the goblins screamed and charged at them.

Ian cast Shield to the two front-line combatants, preparing to deal with the goblin tide. The goblins charged at the two, the reason why Ana is not pushed back is because of the Shield.

Unable to push them, they are stuck in a deadlock, except one person could begin to take potshots on the other side.

Because he is the one to cast Shield, he could fire Arcane Shot through the generated Shield. Unable to harm him, the goblins became a target practice for them all, Ian shooting the pesky creatures and killing them with ease.

As they began to take out the last goblin, Ana seemed to found something. "Guys, over here. Without exchanging words, they soon headed to where Ana called them.

They soon find what Ana called them for. After all, to see riches that seem more appropriate inside a dragon's lair is, surprising to say the least.

The loot should belong to them, as they are the ones to take out the goblins. However, the guild might ask for a share if they revealed the existence, not to mention...

"The guild might not ask for it but those C-rank adventurers might extort us," Lisa exclaimed.

"They would do such a thing," Kell asked in shock. Lisa nodded.

"Those with strength often bullied the ones that lack it," she said, making the rest nod in agreement.

"So, what should we do?" Fiona asked. After all, the treasures inside are not just some copper coins and remains of dead adventurers. There are even gold coins, something that they had never seen before.

"We should give these to the guild," before the others could protest, including Kell, Ian explained his reasoning.

"Doing this will give us good rapport with the adventure guild not to mention, the coins here are just too much and we can't even take the weapons as any change in weapons will make us be questioned by the receptionist.

I prefer if we get the support of the Adventure Guild, at least until we become strong enough," the other could not help but agree with his thought process. After all, it is better to earn the goodwill of the Adventure Guild.

Besides, even if they can smuggle it out, where can they store the treasures without them being found by monsters or people? So, it is better to gain a lot from the adventure guild than doing things behind their back.

Seeing the other agreeing with it, Ian put the treasures inside the spatial bag. He does hope they could get a lot from the treasure, as it would at least make the loss a bit more palatable.

As the cave was emptied of treasures, they began their trek back to the town.

"Here and here," Ian put the Blue Mushroom and the Light Hrass in front of the receptionist, who gave them a kind smile.

"A-and he-here," Kell hefted the Wild Boar, carrying it on his shoulder.

"You can put the Wild Boar at the back," the receptionist told them.

Without saying anything else, both Ian and Kell followed the receptionist before taking out the other two boars from the spatial bag.

Then, as they were about to leave, Ian stopped him, and whispered, "If we exchange treasures to the guild, what can we expect to get?"

The receptionist looked at him questioningly. Deciding to just show it, Ian poured the treasures they found on the floor, a small amount but it still formed a small pile.

The receptionist hyperventilated, looking at the two with shock, "Where did you get this?"

 "From the goblin nest,"
