Kapitel 11: Chapter Eleven.
Zawadi smiled as she remembered Lucas' words. She had heard them clearly but even then she couldn't believe it.
He actually liked her, and he had come out and said it. That alone made her happy.
She liked him too without a doubt, but she hadn't had the courage to tell him that the previous night.
She had wanted to, but she just found herself holding back. Maybe because of her insecurities or her fears of getting hurt, she couldn't decide.
But now. Now she was ready to confess that she liked him too just as much as he does her.
She stripped out of the fancy gown she had on then got into the shower. She cleaned herself and dried up before coming out.
Checking her phone, she found a text message from Lucas.
'Hey, cupcake, you asleep yet? ' it read.
Just reading a text from him made her smile. She quickly put on her pajamas and got under the covers, sitting up, she replied 'Not yet '
A response came almost immediately from Lucas 'Good, I miss you so much '
'But you just dropped me off' she texted.
'I know, but I miss you already. Are you trying to say that you don't miss me, because I know you were just thinking of me ' he wrote.
'I wasn't ' she defended. She moved her fingers to her pajama top and stared fiddling with it.
'I know that right now you are fiddling with your fingers and you are blushing ' L
'How did you know? ' Z
"I know you well love ' L
They continued to talk until Zawadi finally fell asleep.
The next morning Zawadi woke up earlier that she usually did. She was eager to see Lucas and he had promised to come by and pick her up in the evening.
She cleaned her apartment, for the first time in a while, then made breakfast.
She got ready and left immediately after having her breakfast, practically running to the bus station.
Opening the front door to the dinner, she realised how early she actually was. Only John was inside.
"Good morning John" she greeted with a smile as she entered the kitchen
"Zawadi? What are you doing here so early, you've never come this early. What happened? " he eyed her suspiciously.
"I just wanted to come early to compensate for the day I left with Lucas. " she lied.
"Why would you want to compensate when Lucas paid the boss a lot to give you the rest of the day off? " John asked.
"He did? I mean he did. Yeah I knew that. well I woke up early so I decided to come early " she shrugged.
"Or, you are so happy that you can't wait to see him." John said with a smirk.
"I don't know who you are talking about " she smiled, betraying her previous statement.
"Of course you do. And you like him, Just admit it already. " John said.
"Okay, okay I like him. You happy now? " she asked.
"Very. I'm happy that you are happy. At least now you talk to people. You used to be a shell of a person. You barely spoke to anyone . And now you have a friend ,me and a boyfriend " he wiggled his eyebrows suggestively.
"He is not my boyfriend, but you are right. He makes me happy. He takes care of me without asking for anything in return and he told me that he likes me so... " she was cut off by a gasp from John.
"He confessed? Girl, you are so lucky. Then did you tell him you liked him back? " John asked.
"No, I couldn't master the courage to say it... "she sighed sadly " What, don't give me that look" she said rolling her eyes.
"Girl, you have to tell him or else some other girl will do it before you and he will accept her and you will be left miserable all your life." John said.
"But I don't know how to tell him. What if he rejects me? " she whined
"Just go to him and tell him. Pour out your heart. it's not that hard You rejected him too". John said
"Easy for you to say. You are not the one who has to do it. "
" It's easy you are the one complicating it. "
"Fine, I'll tell him when I see him"
"No, you have to tell him today, at lunch" John suggested.
"What, no. I'll tell him this evening. Hell be working at lunch"she explained.
"Then take him lunch, then tell him" John argued.
"I can't just show up at his company and demand to have lunch with him, what if he is busy? "
" I'm sure he won't be too busy for you. Just go, I'll cover for you. I hope you know where 'Steele Mobiles' is" John said.
"I didn't know his company is called Steele Mobiles. That's the largest telephone company in East Africa! " she gasped.
"Yes and it all belongs to your boyfriend . Let's get to work now"John said.
Zawadi couldn't wrap her head around the fact that Lucas was that rich. He didn't show it. He acted just like a normal person.
She packed his lunch in a red lunch box, then after saying thank you to John, left for Luca's office
She was nervous. She had to be, after all, she was going to see him without his permission . She stretched her wrinkled skirt before entering the doors of 'Steele Mobiles '
'Wow!' she let out as she took in the scene before her.
The place was huge and luxurious. There was a huge desk with 'Steele Mobiles ' written on it.
She went to the desk. "Good afternoon miss, how may I help you? " the lady on the other side of the desk said.
"I'm here to see Lucas Steele .Is he around? "she asked.
Just as she was about to answer, someone called her name, "Zawadi. "
She turned to the source of the voice and her heart skipped a beat.
