Kapitel 37: The realization

Declan sighed at the sight. His head was aching badly and it was getting harder by seconds to keep his eyes open to stay awake at this hour. He wasn't trying to be unempathetic, but it was getting a little irritating at this point to be around someone as anxious as Will. Maybe it was a hangover arriving, he wondered.

"Look at me", he held Will by his frail shoulders and turned him in his direction, "He'll be okay. Alright. Now just relax", he ordered.

"But what if…he isn't", Will cried, his brows furrowed with worry.

"You'll still be fine. Trust me", Declan's touch was comforting. His hold over his shoulders was quite strong yet warm. Will looked into the alpha's eyes, noticing hints of gold in their light brown color.

"How would you know?", he asked, wiping his tears with the back of hands.

Declan was surprised by the question posed. He hadn't really thought of it. He just knew, for some reason. That is how everything turned out to be when his mother passed away. But it would be a little awkward to share such a personal detail with someone he barely knew, he thought.

When Declan didn't answer, Will's eyes began returning to the same worrisome look they had a couple seconds ago.

"I was eight when my mother passed away", he said. Will lifted his head to look at the alpha's face. "I remember I used to visit her in the hospital everyday after school. Me and dad even slept over sometimes to keep her company", a smile broke onto his lips, "I knew she was sick, but I never asked too many questions, because I was scared. She used to tell me to behave even if she's not around, to take care of dad etc", he paused for a second, "One day I woke up in the hospital next to her empty bed. And I just knew that she wasn't coming back. It was hard for a while. Actually for a long time. But then it got easier, everyday. It was different after she left, but it was okay", Declan met Will's big coffee colored eyes that were profoundly staring at him . There were no tears in them anymore.

"How did your dad take it?", he asked. The concern in his eyes made him look even cuter. "Surprisingly, he took it very well. He retired early to take care of me, and tried his best to fill her shoes. And he did a great job, I must say. Rarely missed her", he replied.

Will smiled back, "Seems like that", he moved his gaze back to the empty wall in front of them, "Wherever we watched a football match, Uncle Lee would often mention how Edmund Walsh would've been the greatest player of all time if he hadn't retired so early", he smiled remembering the memories of him skipping school to go to Uncle Lee's.

That was the only place he could go to watch tv and catch up with his favorite movies and series. But whenever a soccer match was airing, Will wasn't allowed to put on anything else and Uncle Lee would continuously talk about the time he got to see a live match and all the legendary players from those times.

"Wait, you know my dad?", Declan asked, surprised by the sudden mention of his father's name, "No wait, you know who I am?", his tone shocked.

"Why are you so surprised?", Will countered, "I recognised you the day I saw you. But I didn't say anything because you were trying so hard to hide, with your mask and polo cap and stuff ", he explained.

Declan chuckled, "No, it's just, I didn't think you were into football", he uttered under his breath.

Will frowned, "What is that supposed to mean?", he asked, offended by the alpha's comment.

"No, I wasn't saying that because you're an omega or something, I just meant you didn't look like someone who would be into sports", Declan defended but Will's frown grew even sharper.

The two heard the sound of footsteps approaching them. Will realized he was in a panic mode only a couple of seconds ago. That Uncle Lee was hanging between life and death.

He turned his head to see that it was the alpha that Elian had arrived with. Declan got up from his seat, and Will followed. Too scared to ask anything, he just nervously stared at the man.

"Elian's with the doctor. They're taking him to that private hospital by the main road for the surgery", he said, looking at Declan. His eyes moved to the boy standing next to his friend. He was still staring at him, expecting him to explain further. Tristan hadn't noticed how pretty the omega looked until now. His beautiful and big, deep brown eyes perfectly complemented his dark blonde hair. His flawless alabaster skin made him look too young for his height. He was standing in front of him looking so frightened and vulnerable. Tristan couldn't help.

He reached out and took omega's both hands in his, rubbing his thumbs on the tiny, frail fingers, "Don't worry anymore. I have taken care of everything. Your old man will be fine, I can tell you for sure", he said, his voice deep and his tone sincere.

Will melted at the reassuring words, and let a couple more tears flow. "Thank you. Thank you so much. I'm relieved", he replied, "I should look for Kian, I have to tell him", he retrieved his hands from that of alpha's, and walked away from the two to look for his friend.

Tristan's eyes followed him as he left, "Good lord!", and suddenly met that of Declan's, who had been glaring at him. "What?", he asked, raising his brows with confusion.

"Don't even think about it dude. He's just a kid", Declan warned.

"Is he? I can wait. Damn I wanna taste that!", Tristan licked his lips.

"I'll kick you in the nuts if you touch him. He's way too innocent for someone like you", Declan threatened, his eyes cold sober.

Tristan just shrugged it away, "Whatever, these babyface omegas aren't really my type anyway", he said.

Kian had been waiting for several hours, sitting outside the operation theater. Next to him Wayne was standing, taking strolls around the corridor every once in a while.

His eyes had been staring at the red light above the doors. Every muscle of his body was aching with exhaustion. He could barely manage to sit upright. He wanted to just lie down, close his eyes and just stop thinking. But he couldn't do it. Despite feeling so worn out his brain hadn't given up thinking about Elian. Every move the alpha made angered him. Every time he heard his voice or saw his face, his body grew impatient, he'd feel so angry that he would want to just burst into flames.

His blue eyes, the way he looked at Will, with his arms wrapped up around him. The way Will was clinging to him, ughh! Damn it, he should be worrying about Uncle Lee right now. Why was his mind going crazy over something so trivial. He just wanted to slap the alpha's face out of his mind, but it was always there. 'Why him? Why always him?' he repeated in his head.

Elian was standing outside, staring at the glass door that led to the operating room. Tristan was reading one of the books sitting on the sofa next to Declan who had dozed off while Will lay next to him fast asleep.

One had to admit that private hospitals in the city were probably just as lavish as the five stars hotels. From the cushiony settees in the waiting area to the large corridors leading to decorated balconies with beautiful views of citylights. Everything was just exuberant. Almost to the point of annoyance.

Elian couldn't help but worry. Kian must have been exhausted. He needed rest. But he only keeps straining himself. He only keeps pushing himself, physically and mentally. How could he love someone so stubborn, he wondered. Someone so rude. Someone who hated him so much. Why? Why does he want this person?

The red light above the doors turned green and Kian's heart began to pace. He was holding his breath, waiting for the news. A couple of minutes later, the doors opened and a few nurses exited, followed by two men in scrubs. One of them approached Wayne who was standing right in the front. "You must be his son", he said.

"The operation went well. We'll be checking on him from time to time until his condition is stable. You'll be able to see him by tomorrow hopefully", he informed.

Kian felt like he could breathe again. His body became a hundred times lighter. But his brain was still muddled.

He looked to his right. Down the alley, the large window panes, on the floor this high, were presenting the night view of the entire city. He strolled down towards them. Even though he could hear Wayne rushing towards the waiting room to tell Will, he wasn't bothered. He wasn't thinking about Will. It wasn't about him anymore. He wanted something else.

He slid open one of the doors and made his way to the large balcony of the private hospital. The recessed lights on the floors lit up the plants sitting by the concrete edges. Cold winds of the night were hitting his warm face, flowing into his wavy chocolate brown hair.

His eyes just stared at the view in front of him. It reminded him of the night he met Elian. The living room of his mansion had the same view when looking down through the windows. The night he had brought him home after he almost ran over him. What would he be doing right now if had never met Elian? It'd be so much better if he had never met him, he thought. Even though he saved Uncle Lee just now. He still couldn't hate him any less. Why did he hate him so much?

The sudden sound of the glass door sliding, caused his body to jerk with surprise. He turned his head behind to see that the alpha was standing right there. Golden lights from the indoors were hitting his features, his razor-sharp jaw, his pointy nose and eyes that were now a deeper shade of blue.

"Kian, look I know you're angry at me right now but just hear me out", he said walking closer towards him. The winds were blowing into his messy blonde hair. He looked tired, his white shirt was untucked and his blazer was rumpled. He'd been drinking, anyone could tell.

Yet something about him was so…..so hypnotic. The closer he walked, Kian could smell his musky cologne. The scent was probably there so he could hide his pheromones, because he hadn't allowed the alpha to use them around him. All of his stuff lying around the apartment had the same scent.

"I just wanted to say-", before the alpha could complete his sentences, Kian jump to his toes and crashed his lips onto his. His warm, full lips were biting onto alpha's cold thin ones like it was ice-cream.

Elian's body froze. What is happening right now? Kian's grip on his lips intensified but he couldn't do much. He probably didn't know how to kiss, the alpha wondered. His eyes closed and his arms pulled the omega closer. The soft lips were still clumsily biting him. Something intoxicating spilled into the air, a citrusy fragrance, provoking the alpha inside him. The omega hadn't yet learned to control his pheromones.

He pierced his tongue past the delicate lips, exploring the sweet, moist cavity. He wanted more than his mouth. The boy began trembling in his arms as the kiss deepened. "Mhmm..", he moaned, sending shock waves around Elian's body. He felt his pants tighten around his pelvis. This was getting out of control he thought and reeled away from the kiss.

He could finally see the face of the omega in his arms gasping for breath. His cheeks crimson and his hazel eyes looked intoxicated. "You, are you….uh…", before he could form a sentence the omega yanked himself out of the embrace and ran back inside.

Elian was left there alone. He didn't understand what had just happened. Why did he kiss him? Was he feeling the same way? He couldn't tell. But one thing was clear. He was indeed in love with him.

Yayyy!!! I managed to finish this long chapter. Also I'm early so more yayy!!

Please tell me how you feel about Elian and Kian. Should Elian be falling for him or would the omega just break his heart?

What do you think about Tristan? He's smart but also a complete player. He doesn't believe in relationships like Declan who believes in love at first sight. Elian on the otherhand is a mix of the two personalities.

Tell me what you guys feel about Kian. How do you want his character arc to turn out? Leave your kind suggestions in the comments.

Please leave a review, if possible. It'll be encourage me to write the novel further, to continue putting my efforts into it.
