Kapitel 4: Academy Lessons

"This is an explosive tag. As you can see, special materials were used so that when the seal is activated, chakra bursts, creating a small explosion. Depending on the quality of materials and craftsmanship, the explosion power would vary a lot...", the academy teacher Gecko taught

After what seemed to be an eternity to other students but a flash to me, who was deeply interested in the knowledge passed down to us, the class ended. Being intelligent was one thing, and I prided myself to be quite smart. However, intelligence without knowledge was wasted. I knew I was better than others. I had education from Earth, and even back then, I was the wise one of the group.

In Naruto or other stories, the characters are dumb, and only manage to survive because of plot armours and such things. I knew that I would not benefit from that the moment I realized my system was incomplete. There was no shortcut to strength besides training and completing missions, and adding to that, I had no bloodlines, which was a pretty important factor to strength in this world.

Since I did not have a cheat, then I could only rely on my discipline, my mentality and my intellect to become stronger.

"Interesting", I thought to myself, "No wonder fuinjutsu spcialists are so highly valued by the hidden villages. A single one of them would be enough to raise the power of a whole squad"

At the same time, I remembered the downfall of the Uzumaki fall. At the end of the day, being craftsmen was not the right path. It might be a convenient skill, but there was nothing more important than true strength.

Unlike Konoha, we were not given any break, and the next lesson began. This time around, it was regarding shurikenjutsu, which was not a skill I had mastered yet. I had a mission to learn it, but the requirements were a cold reminder of how average my talent was.

[Way of the Shinobi IV (Chain quest)- D-rank mission

You have learned a ninjutsu, a taijutsu and kenjutsu already, which are necessary to considered a real shinobi. These will become the foundations of your shinobi skills in the future, but there is one more skill to acquire before having the right to become a real ninja: Shurikenjutsu.

Task - Throw 100 000 shuriken accurately (86 342 / 100 000)

Reward - Shuriken Mastery (E)]

Although I could now manage to throw a shuriken on a stationary target 10 times out of 10, the result would drop to half of the time if the target was moving. The requirements for the shuriken mastery skill were huge, and would probably improve my accuracy by leaps and bounds, yet 100 000 throws were more than I had imagined. After seeing little progress, I started to impose on myself 2000 throws a day, and I could see the mission progress faster than before. Still, I would need roughly one more weak before seeing this skill added to my page.

When I looked around, however, I sighed in disappointment.

Ana, the girl who was sitting next to me in class, cut herself while attempting to throw a shuriken and was now crying.

Arya, who was supposedly one of the strongest in the class, missed 3 throws out of five on a stationary target ten meters from her.

Even without a skill, I was already miles ahead of those kids.

But I knew I was nothing in this world. Kakashi graduated at the age of six, and here I was, at 9, with genin-level strength at an age where some were already chunins.

However, there was no helping it. Comparison is the thief of joy. I was doing pretty good still, and I was laying solid foundations for the future. I still had roughly three years before the third shinobi war, and this was the one thing that scared me the most at the moment. The fourth shinobi war, as dangerous and world-threatening it was, was too far away from me. After all, surviving the third shinobi war was a huge challenge already.
