Helena's POV 2:
Finally! I'm so exhausted, thankfully class ended faster than I thought it would. I was the last one out of class when I grabbed my backpack and exited the classrom. The hallways were packed with students talking, though that didn't stop me from searching for Leo. I can't afford to lose him, today's the day I confess to him my feelings under the oak tree. One of our favorite places to hang out in when we were little.
I desperately ran through the halls looking for him so we could walk home together like always, but I couldn't seem to find him.
I reached for the phone in my pocket and dialed his number. No response. Where is he?! A sudden look of worry filled my face that was covered in makeup to hide my insecurities and blemishes.
𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙧 𝙪? 𝙄'𝙫𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙪 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚...
I quickly pressed the button that said 'send' and turned off my phone to go look for him near the school gates.
I looked everywhere, even the hidden places in the school. Suddenly, I saw a figure that looked like Leo, my face lightened up and I felt a tremendous relief cross my face. I ran as fast as I could towards his direction, causing my shoes to get mud on the sides. I didn't care, all that matters right now is him, and only him.
As I got closer and squinted my eyes, I noticed he was talking to someone. Who was it? Oh. It was her. The girl he had been talking to this morning and failed to pay attention to me because he was too busy with her.
She looked so perfect, silky brown hair with green eyes and tanned skin. I hated it, the fact that she was naturally beautiful and didn't have a single hint of acne or scars in her face, unlike me. I quickly noticed she was wearing extremely baggy clothing that didn't match at all, her hair was also tied into a messy bun and her nails we're undone with dirt under. Gross.
Whatever, I thought. I adjusted my shirt and came up to Leo.
"Hey Leo! What's up?" I pretended like she wasn't there.
"Hey Lena! Not much, just talking to a friend. Lili this is Helena! But I call her Lena for short."
That look.
It said it all. He clearly liked her no matter how much he tried to hide it. It was so simple to notice because, that's how I look at him everyday.
"Hey Helena! Nice to meet you!" Lili said with a happy, cheerful tone.
"Nice to meet you too." I forced a smile that looked as fake as the love I had for my own father.
"Mind if I give you a hug? I love giving people hugs!" She said happily, once again.
I said nothing. My eyes soon filled with jealousy and envy that later turned into silent rage.
She looked dissapointed and went quiet. "Uh...I'm gonna go now Leo! It was fun, hopefully we can do this again some other time. Cya Helena!" She said in a tone that sounded almost fake.
"Bye Lily!" Leo said with a sad look on his face.
"What the hell was that for? You came off so rude." He gave me a dirty look.
"I'm sorry, I'm just not feeling my best today." I said, lying through my teeth.
"Whatever. What did you need me for?" He asked in a voice that sounded strange, almost mad.
"I was just wondering if you wanted to go hangout under the Oak tree? I want to tell you something." I mentioned, trying not to sound suspicious even though my face was visibly beet red in an instant.
"Hm, sure. Wanna walk there? It's only about 15 minutes away." Leo said.
"Sure!" Bingo. I can't believe we'll be walking together! I don't care if we've already done it thousands of times in the past, this one is different, and I know it.
