Looking up at the thirty-two-story Shangri-La Hotel, Yusuf felt a surreal sensation—as if just a few hours ago he was still at home, basking in the warmth of his family. But with a fleeting image, he found himself in this unfamiliar city where life was still a mystery to him.

Fleur Carson wasn't by his side. She had gotten off the car midway, saying that her presence only needed to be known by Yusuf himself; there was no need for others to be aware. Moreover, she operated in the shadows, which made her tasks more convenient.
