8.69% Into the World of Doraemon as Nobita / Chapter 2: A Day of New Life

Kapitel 2: A Day of New Life

As Nobita opened his eyes, he was momentarily blinded by a blinding white light that enveloped him. Slowly, his vision cleared, and he found himself lying on the floor of his own room. Rubbing his eyes and reaching for his glasses, he took a moment to take in his surroundings. It was a typical room, with a bookcase on his left, a cupboard on his right, a study desk and chair ahead of him, and a window offering a view outside. On the floor, he noticed a box filled with toys and his familiar schoolbag resting nearby. "It's my room," Nobita thought to himself, a sense of familiarity washing over him.

As he brushed off the dust from his clothes, he heard a knock on the door, which quickly swung open to reveal Doraemon, the blue raccoon-like creature, carrying a tray with tea and snacks. "Oh, Nobita, you're awake!" Doraemon exclaimed cheerfully, setting the tray down and reaching into his pocket to retrieve what looked like a doctor's bag. "Let me check your condition with this," he said, pulling out a stethoscope and examining Nobita. "Hmm, slightly high blood pressure, normal heart rate, and excellent brain condition. You seem to be fine, Nobita," Doraemon concluded.

Nobita's memory jogged, and he recognized the doctor's bag. "Oh, I remember this," he said with a mix of surprise and curiosity. Doraemon, noticing Nobita's gaze, explained, "That's right, it's a Doctor's bag. You've seen it quite frequently." Nobita then asked the question that had troubled him for years, "Doraemon, why didn't you use your gadgets to cure my eyes? With your advanced technology, it should be possible."

Doraemon looked momentarily surprised but quickly composed himself, responding, "I can only use gadgets to assist you when your life is in danger or when you specifically ask for it. I cannot provide gadgets on my own accord; it goes against the fundamental rules." Nobita's gaze remained fixed on Doraemon, awaiting an explanation. Doraemon continued, "However, I can grant any gadget you ask for, as long as it doesn't cause harm to others. Why do you ask? Are you thinking of seeking revenge on Gian and Suneo again? I must remind you that..." Nobita interrupted, shaking his head, "No, it's not about that. I'll tell you later. But for now, could you please fix my vision?"

Doraemon considered the request and consulted his gadget. "Hmm, it is possible to fix your vision, but I'll need to acquire some things. I can order them from the 'Future Departmental Store' next week," Doraemon informed Nobita. Eager to have his vision restored, Nobita questioned the delay. "Why not order them now?" he asked. Doraemon sighed, "I'm afraid I've spent all my pocket money already. I'll purchase them next week when we receive our allowances."

Touched by Doraemon's willingness to use his own funds, Nobita made a decision. "Don't worry about the money. I'll pay for it. Please order them now," he said, offering a warm smile. Doraemon seemed perplexed, mentioning Nobita's plans to buy a new comic and show it off to his friends. "Well, I'd rather put an end to the hassle of wearing glasses. Order the items now," Nobita insisted. After a few moments of silence, Doraemon relented, "Fine, they will be delivered by the day after tomorrow."

Nobita's smile deepened, a mysterious glint in his eyes, as he descended to wash his hands before enjoying the snacks. He couldn't help but reflect on the unexpected turn of events. His friend Doraemon was willing to sacrifice his favorite Doracakes for a month to help him. Having once given up his own indulgences to save up for a computer, Nobita understood the weight of such sacrifices.
