Kapitel 2: Chapter 2: Construction Worker Paying Off!

---

Greetings User <Lucas Walker>. It is a pleasure to welcome you to your new world. The old Terra has been changed to accommodate the changes that this system has brought into the world and with it so have you!

You have currently gained access to the system which holds the key to your future.

Starting off you have one class slot and one subclass slot. Classes are more substantial in nature while subclasses are more or less specializations or occupations. Please choose a class and subclass now.

Available Classes:

<ERROR: Class already detected. Reporting Anomaly... Skipping class procedure.>

Available Subclasses:

<Brute: Common>

You have basic strength meaning you qualify to be a mindless brute.

<Peasant: Common>

You are quite poor and as such are a peasant.

<Builder: Common>

Your expertise in building structures has given you an edge in the art of crafting.

<Please Choose Now>

---

'What the hell even is all of this?' Lucas thought to himself as he examined the meaning behind the words that had appeared before him.

'So the world has changed for some mysterious reason meaning beasts are attacking? Seems like bullshit to me...'

'I suppose the Brute Subclass would be because of my build and the peasant because of my low income... The builder however seems to be the best option and the only one that makes sense to take as I was a construction worker. So I choose you, Builder!' Lucas thought as he gave up on understanding the logic of the situation he was in.

He had seen people die before but this amount of gore was pretty crazy. Susan had just bled out in front of him. Though slightly shaken he decided to move forward for the sake of his survival. And with that, he looked forwards toward the system panel with determination.

'I may have not liked Susan and she may have been a bitch but that was no reason for her to die. Though just maybe... No!' Lucas thought to himself before seeing the panel update.

---

<Builders class has been chosen and as such you gain the following immediate benefits:>

Starting stat bonuses:

+5 Strength

+5 Endurance

+2 Intelligence

+2 Control

In addition to this, you gain the following two skills for meeting their requirements and you have no choice in the matter since you have no current skills in this Sub-Class.

<Fortify: Tier: 0 / LV: 1 / Rarity: Common>: Requirement: Have the Builder Class. Skill Gained!

<Archetects Mind: Tier: 0 / LV: 1 / Rarity: Uncommon>: Requirement: Have the Builder Class and understand Architecture at an intermediate level. Skill Gained!

Please check your skill panel to understand what these skills do!

Goodbye now.

---

'Seems okay I guess...' Lucas thought to himself looking at the stat bonuses. 'The skills may not look too useful but I guess I will never know until I look at the skills themselves. And I do remember seeing a strange skill from the class I started off with... The system even threw up an error message. Either way, open up the Skills panel!'

---

[Evolution: Infinite Passive Skills] Descriptions:

---

<Evolving: Tier: 0 / LV: 1 / Rarity: Unique>: Requirement: Have one level in [Evolution: Infinite]

You are evolving. Your body adapts to situations faster than others. You gain 10% additional resistance to all negative statuses. In addition to that, your classes all have an evolution limit of tier 10 as well as your skills.

---

[Builder Active Skills] Descriptions/Requirments:

---

<Fortify: Tier: 0 / LV: 1 / Rarity: Common>: Requirement: Have the Builder Class

With strength and precision, you can improve buildings and objects to make them more durable. By spending a large amount of stamina(That regenerates slower than normal stamina drain) you can make an object that is no heavier than 5 pounds 2 times as durable.

---

[Builder Passive Skills] Descriptions/Requirments:

---

<Archetects Mind: Tier: 0 / LV: 1 / Rarity: Uncommon>: Requirement: Have the Builder Class and understand Architecture at an intermediate level.

You understand the weak points of buildings and as such you understand where to improve them and where to damage them better. Damage dealt to structures is improved by an amount ranging from 5% - 100% depending on the weak points in the building. Improving buildings is based on the same amount.

---

'Evolution limit... what the hell is that?' Lucas thought to himself as he read over the three skills he had received and the one pending in General skills.

'There seems to be a limit on how many normal skills I can have but for common skills, the limit is the sky.'

'It's just like a video game' Lucas thought as he read over percentages, stamina drain, and various negative status effects.

'Hmm... I guess <Evolving> Is a neat skill. Pretty basic but I bet it would let me resist fatigue and stuff like that. I wasn't really a nut for games but I know what negative effects are. Things that slowed you down or stunned you for instance. Definitely not something you want to deal with in the apocalypse. '

'The builder skills are a little bit different however though I suppose it makes sense for it to be a subclass.'

'Fortify seems ridiculously useful, basically allowing me to double a weapon's durability and perhaps other things at higher levels... while Architects mind seems to be quite different compared to your standard skills. Perhaps strong in sieges and attacks on inanimate objects but it doesn't seem useful in one on one combat. While improving buildings seems quite interesting it just seems to passively increase my skill at improving the building that I work on.'

'Now onto this pending Common Skill...'

---

<Basic club proficiency: Tier 0 / LV: 1 / Rarity: Common> Requirement: Use a club or club like item in combat successfully.

You are learning how to use the club… slowly at least. 5% improved learning speed when using club-like weapons as well as a 5% improvement to speed and damage while using a club in combat.

<Keep Skill?>

<Yes>

<No>

---

'Sure, why not? It will make this baby stronger at least.' Lucas thought to the system while patting his old high school baseball bat. It had seen better days and after using it against that creature it looked like it was on its last leg but... there were things that could be done now about that.

"Time to test out this skill..." Lucas muttered before placing his hands on the baseball bat and muttering a few words of prayer towards the system.

"Dear heavenly system. Why not use <Fortify> on this club of mine?"

<...>

but after a few moments of nothing, Lucas lost patience.

"Just fucking use <Fortify> System.

<Ding~ Use the skill <Fortify> On common item <Old Highschool Baseball Bat (Bad condition)>?>

"Yes!" Lucas said as his patience soon returned as his face came alight with anticipation.

<Draining stamina now.>

And with that Lucas passed the fuck out.

---

Lucas awoke an unknown amount of time later but by the morning sun shining through the blinds in the room and the lack of rumbling he could tell that it was sometime around morning.

As Lucas came to he felt a pounding sensation rush to his head as the worse headache of his life echoed through his mind.

"God damnit!" Lucas grunted as he slowly sat up and wriggled in disgust at the few worms that were trying to dig into his flesh.

'You didn't tell me you would knock me out?!' Lucas thought angrily at the system to only get silence in return.

Lucas tried to stand up but stumbled and fell to the floor.

'Seems like I still haven't recovered from the stamina drain.' Lucas thought as he slowly sat up and propped himself onto his bed while reaching for the baseball bat that seemed to have changed.

The old wood that look splintered on the edges seemed to have hardened and turned into something akin to perfectly resined wood that felt slightly heavier than before but had a certain feel to it that made it feel stronger.

As he stared at it longer a small pop-up appeared in front of him declaring the items' stats.

---

<Old Highschool Baseball Bat +1 (Good Condition)>

-Increased strength and durability

---

'Nice! At least it was worth it.' Lucas thought before sitting and slowly recovering his lost strength.

<View missed prompts?>

'Sure, why not.'

---

<User has leveled up the skill <Fortify> to level 2!>

<User has a pending common skill.>

<User has improved an item and has gained 10 XP. The User requires 10 XP to level up to level 2!>

---

'Display the upgrade that was given to <Fortify>' Lucas thought to the system to which the system complied.

---

<Fortify: Tier: 0 / LV: 1 / Rarity: Common>: Requirement: Have the Builder Class

With strength and precision, you can improve buildings and objects to make them more durable. By spending a large amount of stamina(That regenerates slower than normal stamina drain) you can make an object that is no heavier than 7.5 pounds 2.5 times as durable.

---

"Interesting," Lucas muttered underneath his breath before nodding to himself.

'Could I perhaps use <Fortify> on an item multiple times?' Lucas thought to himself and surprisingly got an answer from the system.

<Positive, though stamina draw increases significantly with each consecutive <Fortify>>

'Hmm... there goes that idea. I blacked out from using it on a nearly broken item once.'

'And the pending common skill?'

---

<Basic Stamina Sense: Tier 0 / LV: 1 / Rarity: Common> Requirement: Fully exhaust your stamina once.

You can feel your remaining stamina and can put into words how much you have left.

---

'Neat!' Lucas thought as a smile crept onto his face.

'What's my current stamina?' He asked the system as he couldn't feel any 'Stamina' that it was talking about.

---

[Name:]

Lucas Walker

Stamina: 4/25

---

'I must have emptied my tank for me to not have recovered much of my stamina...' Lucas thought before realizing how much of an idiot he was for not realizing that it was the skills requirement.

"Now... It's time for you mister bug. And you... Susan" Lucas said out loud as he made his way towards Susans' body with a sad look in his eyes.

Hey Folks! I won't be bogging down chapters with hundreds upon hundreds of words of redundant text all the time so don't worry about how long the wall of text for the System was this time. Usually, it will only show short portions of the full character description at a time and only specific skills I.E: Showing just the skills upgrade or a new skill instead of the whole list. Thanks for reading and I hope you have a great day!
