Kapitel 36: Chapter 36 - A Few Days Later

She spoke to the man briefly and concluded that it would take a few days, at most two weeks, before he could get her the ID she wanted.

The reason it took that long was complicated, but to put it in the simplest way, he had to add her to the database so that the ID would be recognized as genuine.

That way, it would work on most things she needed it for.

Thankfully it seemed the man was quite skilled with the computer, coding, and the likes of IT. But as he liked to call himself, 'hacker man.'

Regardless he told her the price, which was a lot, to say the least, and that was just the rough outline so that she had an idea of what she was working it.

The actual price could end up being a lot more depending on how much effort it took.

He also took a few pictures of her, a signature, and a fingerprint, along with other essential information so that it could be used to complete the process.

Again, she wasn't worried about the fingerprint being leaked because it wasn't her natural fingerprint and was simply something that came with her shifted form.

Now with all of this out of the way, she decided to head back to her home— it had been quite a while since she had left, and while the clone unit was doing its job well, she didn't want to push it.

She hid and went in the same way she went out, which wasn't very hard.

It was currently night by the time she returned, and the place was relatively quiet. Her clone had pretended to have fallen asleep, which allowed her to skip dinner; it would've been hard to avoid being caught if she had to attend dinner with the clone.

But now that she was home, she ordered the clone to switch with her in the bathroom like they had initially swapped, ordering the clone to go outside in her place and stay hidden for the time being— until she was ready to switch again.

As much as she wanted to do something better, she really had nowhere else to hide it, and she couldn't keep it inside the bathroom all the time because they might see it one day, and it would expose her.

Either way, it would stay hidden in a hole made by the worm units outside the house and switch with her when she felt like going out again.

It didn't need sustenance for anything, so she wasn't worried about that.

After sorting that hassle out, she decided to take a quick shower and sleep, it was late, and a lot had happened so far. And while her body didn't need a lot of sleep, she liked it regardless because it allowed her to relax.

Maybe it was her human mentality lingering and playing a part in how she behaved sometimes— but it wasn't bad; it humbled her.

Like that, the day flew by, then another, another, and another.

Three days passed by without any incident or without her leaving the house.

She decided it would be best for the time being to not go out, knowing that she was being searched for by the X-Men and that trying to attack the Morlocks for the time being might be risky.

Instead, she tried to focus on her new 'family.'

It was odd for a while, to say the least; she was never very close with her own family in her old life. She never paid much attention to them, and they never paid much attention to her.

With her personality, she simply didn't care then, but her new fake family was quite odd.

Maybe it was how they were new to the job, but they acted significantly over the top.

Roxy, her new mother, was very attentive. She tried her best to relate to and aid Lily in whatever she could in order to get her to settle down quicker.

She was a very friendly and caring woman, and while Lily could tell that some of it were fake— she was acting the role— but she could also tell that some of it was genuinely how she felt.

It seemed like she pitied the girl because of how she was treated, or at least how they assumed she was treated, and her circumstance. That, along with her actual friendliness, made her quite caring.

It took a while for Lily to get used to it; at first, she had her reservations and always tried to keep it an arm's length away, but after a while, she sorta just gave in and accepted that she was just a nice person.

Even if she was an undercover agent that was there to brainwash and observe her.

So with that in mind, she did start to treat them better— more openly with how she felt and how she spoke to them— but she kept her limits in check.

As for Stephan, her fake father, he was pretty funny to observe.

At first, he seemed distant and unsure of how to act around her. While it seemed like he was good at his job— being undercover— he wasn't very good at his job of being a father.

He didn't seem to know how to speak to her in a normal manner; sometimes, he would even slip up and accidentally speak 'formal' to her.

Which felt odd, to say the least.

But eventually, he got used to her being around, especially with the help of his 'wife.' He began to speak to her more naturally.

He was still reserved, but he did care— in his own way.

If Roxy was caring and outgoing, he could be considered caring and introverted. He showed his care subtly; he asked if she wanted anything whenever he went out, and he would try his best to make things easier for her around the house.

He even took her out shopping on her third day to get clothing, furniture, and many more things that would make her more comfortable staying with them.

He wasn't completely acting either, just like Roxy; he cared, she could tell.

And she quite liked the way he showed it.

She was never very outgoing in her old life. Even in this life, she has always been secretive or avoided standing out and drawing attention to herself.

She was never someone that could be considered extraverted in this life or the previous.

So his subtle way of kindness and care was much appreciated; it reminded her of herself.

She had decorated her room, and spent time getting to know her family, allowing them to learn about herself, what she wanted them to learn, and much more.

The three days were productive and relaxing.

Now, it was the fourth day since she had moved to this city, this house, and her family, and she decided to finally head back out again and hunt the Morlocks again.

She planned to go on a much larger killing spree this time, mainly because she knew that the X-Men were currently on her trial, or at least aware of her.

She wanted to be prepared for if they do find her eventually; to do that, she needed as many X-Gene abilities as possible.

As for them catching her in the act— from what she heard the woman say the last time she was out, they most likely gave up on searching for now since so much time had passed without finding her.
