An hour passed and Davinder was still with me.

“Thank you,” he said, setting his fork on the plate. His hair was still wet from the shower, darker and pulled away from his eyes. He looked amazing. “You cook a lot?”

I’d made him a plate of pesto pasta. “Yeah. I enjoy it.”

“That’s wonderful.”

In the last minutes, he’d grown quieter. Maybe even sullen. We both knew our time was up. We’d taken a shower together, staying in there until the hot water had run out.
