54.02% IN HIS ARMS / Chapter 47: The real Miles Anderson

Kapitel 47: The real Miles Anderson

"What do you mean Elsa?" He ask, still in that same low voice.

I shrug."I heard you once had a girlfriend and I wanted to know more about her."

"Who told you about her?" He asks.

"That doesn't matter. What matters is-"

"Who told you about Elsa?" He asks again.

I don't know if I was mistaken, but I could hear anger in his voice.

"Miles." I say and I swear I could hear a pin drop.

"Hello?" I moved the phone from my ear to check if the call had been disconnected but it hasn't.

"What exactly did he tell you?" He asks.

"Well, he said you lost your girlfriend after his fight with you." I pause. "Then I asked Chloe about it, and she said you told her you guys broke up."

He doesn't say anything so I continue.

"I wanna ask, and stop me if you think I'm crossing the line but," I pause, not sure whether or not I should ask him.

Fuck it!

"Did you break up with her because you found her cheating? And is it because of Elsa you had a fight with Miles?"

"Are you asking if my break up with Elsa and my fight with Miles is because I found them together?"

"Yes." I say after a moment.

The line is quite for a moment.

"Raven." He begins. "Disregard everything anyone told you about Elsa okay? Put it in a box, shut it, and lock it somewhere forever."

"Was it that sour of a break up?"

"Raven." He begins. "Leave it."

"Fine."

"How did Miles even tell you? You guys don't hang out."

"We did actually."

"What?"

I nod. "He took me out today." I begin. "We went sight seeing and at the end, he took me to see the sunset. I had much fun."

"I can just imagine." He says lowly.

Shit.

I wasn't supposed to say anything since Nick is against me meeting up with Miles.

"It must have been pretty stupid to ask if you were alright when clearly, you had so much fun."

Oh no.

"It's just that the house felt cramped and I needed to get out and he-"

"You don't have to explain anything to me. It's your life."

"Nick."

"Good night. I'll talk to you later." He says and hangs up.

Great. Now he's never going to tell me about Elsa.

I sigh as I tuck myself in and try to sleep.

****

The next day, aunt Mary came home. Did as if she didn't notice me and went straight to her room.

Lisa also came home. The look on aunt Mary's face was both shock and relief.

She wasn't expecting her to come on a Sunday, and she felt relieved that she finally saw her daughter after their fight.

Of course, Lisa acted like she came to pick up something, but deep down, I knew she was happy to see her mom again.

She left hours later but not without giving me her signature glare.

And now, I was on my way to the restroom during class because I was anxious.

The reason?

Our test results would be announced shortly.

By announced, I mean it would be sent to our student's portal.

Each student has a portal that we create when we are enrolled so that anything related to school stuff would be announced to us directly.

Of course the school has an official page, but the portal helps to reach out to each student if the need arises.

I had been reloading my portal ever since I got to school but no notification about our results has been posted.

I'm never this anxious about my results, but I've never missed a test nor have I written a make up test before.

So I didn't know if I was going to fail or pass.

I was so immersed in my thoughts, that I didn't know when I passed Nick by.

"Are you avoiding me?" He asks, snapping me out of my thoughts.

I turn to him. "Sorry, I didn't see you there." I apologize and then turn back to walk away.

"You aren't going to listen are you?" He asks and I stop.

"You aren't going to listen when I tell you to stay away from him. You're just going to keep seeing him, keep talking to him, keep going out with him are you?"

I turn around to face him. "You have to give me a solid reason to why I shouldn't hang out with him."

"I have!" He raises his voice a little, but he immediately looks around. "I have told you that guy has loose screws. I already told you for your safety. I already-"

"Why shouldn't I hang out with him? Why does he have loose screws? Why is it for my safety? Why?"

"Because it's Miles!!!" He shouts. "Because he's someone I've known for over ten years! Because I know what he's capable of! Because I know when I say you're in danger just by talking to him, I know what could happen!"

I take a step towards him. "The Miles I know isn't like the person you are describing."

"Because that's what he wants you to believe darn it! That's the kind of picture he wants you to have of him and you are eating it all up!" He pauses. "I'm sure as hell he doesn't let you see him well, I'm sure as hell he plays the victim at all times, I'm sure as hell he didn't tell you what he did to me two years ago!!!"

He didn't hold back anymore. I could see the anger in his grey eyes.

They were dark, and they were stormy. And his hands were in fists by his side.

He takes a step forward. "Spitfire. That guy isn't what he lets you on. He's showing you the side of him that he wants everyone to believe. But I'm sure you've also seen him. I'm sure you've witnessed when he doesn't seem himself. The side that deprives satisfaction in seeing people down, hurt, and suffering. The side that takes pain like it's a daily food, the side that isn't playful or carefree at all. The side of him that gives you creepy vibes and makes you unnecessary scared. The side of him that makes you think he's someone else completely."

Yes. I've witnessed it all.

The first time I met him. He gave this offset vibe that makes you want to run away.

The time we met at the library. He talked like we've known each other for years. No.

Like he had known me way before we met.

The time he fought against Nick in the cafeteria. He didn't seem like someone who was being hit. He seemed to enjoy it every bit of it.

And the time he told Lisa to get on her knees.

"This is the fun part."

I remember when he said those words to me.

I remember the way he looked that day.

I remember the way he felt like another person completely.

I remember that, and it scares me.

"Because Raven," Nick continues and I stare at him

"That's the real Miles Anderson."
