42.52% IN HIS ARMS / Chapter 37: A lovely visit

Kapitel 37: A lovely visit

"Chloe?" I look at her in surprise.

She hurries to my side and Nick steps aside.

"What happened to you?!" She asks loudly and I wince.

I look at Nick but he just shrugs.

"What are you doing here?" I ask her back.

"What am I doing here?" She says in disbelief. "What are you doing here?!" She asks back.

Great.

"I-"

"You didn't come to school today and I was worried! I thought something bad had happened to you!"

"I'm fine Chloe!"

"Thank goodness you are! I would've killed you myself if you weren't!" She hits my shoulder and I wince.

"Sorry." She mutters.

I sigh and I stare at her. "I'm sorry I got you worried."

"It's fine. As long as you're okay." She smiles and holds my hand. "Quick question though. What made you faint?"

I look at Nick then back to Chloe.

"Stress about the test and all."

"Don't worry. You can always take it when you get better."

I look at her confused. "What do you mean when I-" My eyes widen. "Holy- I missed the test?!"

"You can take it when you're better." She says again.

"But-"

"Just get better okay?" She interrupts me.

I didn't want to miss it.

"Fine. How did you know I was here though?"

"Peter told me."

"Peter?" I look at her confused. "How'd he know?"

"I told him." Nick speaks up.

Oh.

"Then he told me. He was with me through out and he brought me here."

I give her a sly look. "He was with you through out?"

"Raven!" She hits my shoulder again.

Nick coughs and we both look at him.

"I'd be outside." He says and walks out of the room.

I turn back to Chloe. "So you were saying something about Peter?"

.....

Nick's pov.

I close the door gently behind me and I walked away from her room.

I felt relieved that she was fine.

I got to the waiting area and I saw Peter one of the chairs. I walked to him and sat beside him.

I sighed and said nothing.

"How is she?" Peter asks after a moment.

"She's fine." I mutter.

"But?" He asks.

"She has gone through a lot. A whole lot." I sigh. "But haven't we all?"

He also sighs. "Yeah."

Peter Miller. A guy with dirty brown curly hair and brown eyes. I met him freshman year. He was there during Miles and I's saga two years ago. We became closer after that.

His father is one of the hotshot lawyers in the city and he owns a firm. His mom is a fashion designer and owns her own clothing company. His family isn't perfect. His parents never gave him the attention and love he wanted since he was little. They were always too busy for him. He was practically raised by his nanny.

So he did the logical thing he could think of. Be someone who'd do anything to have someone's attention.

Anyone's attention.

"I'm sorry I told Chloe." He speaks up. "She looked really worried and I didn't have an excuse."

"It's alright. You did the right thing." I put my hand on his shoulder. "Thanks Pete."

"Yeah." He scratches the back of his neck.

I stand up.

"You going somewhere?" He asks as he also stands.

"Yeah. I'm going to have a lovely chat with my dad, then to Raven's house."

"Raven's house?" He looks at me confused.

"Yeah. I want to check something."

"Okay. I hope your lovely chat goes well." He smiles.

"Sure."

Peter knows my dad and I don't have a very good relationship with each other.

"I'll stay behind with Chloe."

"No problem. I'll get going. Say hi to Chloe for me." I say and turn towards the exit.

....

An hour later, I got to my dad's office.

I don't really like talking to him, but I needed to talk to him.

I checked the time on my phone to see it's eight minutes past ten.

I sigh and walk into the company.

"Mr Hart." The bodyguards bowed their heads to greet me as I passed by them.

"My Hart." The receptionist smiles at me but I just nod.

I take the elevator to the top floor where my dad's office is.

I get there and I meet Maria, my dad's personal assistant.

"Mr Hart." She stands.

"Hey. Is my dad in?"

"Yeah but he's-"

I don't want for her to finish and I walk into his office.

There he is, sitting behind his desk, buried in his work as he looks up at me.

"Nick." He says as he removes his glasses.

I close the door and I walked to his desk.

"Shouldn't you be at home?" He asked.

I put my hands in my pocket. "I'm really confused as to which 'home' you're talking about."

"Nick-" He starts but I interrupt him.

"Listen," I pull out a chair and sit. "I'm not here to chit chat with you. I want to talk to you about Raven's aunt."

"You mean Mary?"

"I do not know her name but yeah."

"Why would you want to talk about her?"

"Where is she by the way?" I ignore his question.

"She's out on a business."

"Ah." I nod.

"Why are you asking about her?" He asks again.

"I'm not sure," I lie. "But I'd like a favor."

He rests his back on his chair. "You want a favor from me?"

"It's not for my sake. It's for your best friend's daughter."

"What do you want?"

"If it's not too much, I'd like you to let Mary rest for a while."

He immediately gets it.

"Why? She's good at what's she does."

"She might be, but she doesn't deserve it."

"Listen Nick. I can't help you if I don't know what it's about."

"Mary has been treating Raven like a slave."

"What?" He asked shocked.

"Raven doesn't want trouble and she doesn't want to leave her house."

"Why?" He asks and I shrug.

"But I think you know what you have to do father." I say and I stand up to walk out.

I put my hand on the knob and pause.

"It was nice talking to you. Reminds me of good old days." I say dryly and walk out.

As if.
