Giving myself over to my wolf, I let the red haze with black edges overtake my vision as shimmers ran down my spine. Then I took off running toward the center of the forest, leaping into the air at the last minute and landing on four huge black paws, never breaking my stride.

One thing about being a dark colored wolf was that I easily blended into the shadows.

Staying in the safety of the trees, I unleashed my wolf and ran through the shelter of the lush vegetation, unleashing my wolf. I stretched, elongating my stride, letting my wolf run free. It had been cooped up for too long—since before Lycia and I married—and he needed this. And even though I had just eaten my fill, my wolf needed to feed. Or maybe, he just needed the kill.

He growled his agreement.
