Kapitel 16: Chapter 16: Give Me Your Life and Granddaughter, Of Course It's For the Greater Good
Author's Note: I reread my story and noticed I have a tendency to nerf my protagonist, it's probably unintentional due to my immaturity (after all I'm still a novice 😩) and besides that, enjoy the chapter since there will be many twists .

Hiro's POV
"Tell me why I'm not already dead? And don't try to deceive me by saying you want to be my disciple" said old Kunieda, looking me straight in the eyes.
I understand his mistrust. After all, I'm supposed to be an assassin hired to eliminate his granddaughter and if possible, capture her. So it would be more logical for me to eliminate anything that could hinder that goal.
And that was indeed my initial plan, but I changed my mind.
"I have a proposal for you and I doubt you'll be able to refuse" I said, sitting down on a comfortable chair.
"What kind of proposal could you offer me? You're a Zoldyck and my granddaughter is your target, so our discussion is pointless" expressed the old man.
I could detect a hint of fear when he uttered the name Zoldyck and I understand given my family's reputation, but I still hate when people doubt my word.
After all, a man without his word is not worthy of being followed and I hope to create a group powerful enough that even my family or the Zodiacs would fear.
"Indeed, your granddaughter is on my target list, but that doesn't mean she can't survive if your decision satisfies me" I started before briefly pausing my words to take some tea brought by Amane.
"But her survival will depend on your decision here and now. You have my word" I said, staring at the tired old man.
"What is your proposal?" he finally said after a moment of contemplation.
"Nothing complicated. I want you and your granddaughter to become my servants, in exchange I pledge to eliminate those who destroyed your family"
When I finished speaking, I could feel the air in the room change. It seemed old Kunieda did not appreciate the idea of being a subordinate.
"There's no need to be in that state, old man, but rather think objectively about my proposal and don't let your pride blind you. After all, today you and your granddaughter could die" I finished, letting a little of my killing intent emanate from me.
It seemed like hours passed as our gazes collided, causing an alarming rise in tension in the room.
"The young master is really scary sometimes" thought Amane, who was standing next to the room's only door.
"I agree to your proposal, but you'll surely have to face my granddaughter for the agreement to be concluded definitively" expressed old Kunieda with a tired sigh.
"Great, I'm happy we're now on the same side. And for your granddaughter, can you arrange to meet her outside the city and explain the whole situation? After all, I wouldn't want our potential fight to harm any civilians" I said this time casually, as if my earlier killing intent was but an illusion.

After asking Amane to take my new subordinate to a room in the hotel, I locked myself in my own room.
"It's time to contact a really powerful demon who will be very useful to me" I said to no one in particular.
After a few moments, I was able to contact the specific demon I wanted.
[Hello, I know this may seem sudden since you're hearing a voice out of nowhere in your head, but know that I have no ill intentions towards you] I said to one of the most popular antagonists from my time on Earth, the control devil known as Makima.
I had noticed for some time that I had enough strength and endurance to contact Makima, Yoru or Fami but I had preferred to wait since I didn't want to take any risks. But right now, I really need Makima's power.
If I want my future organization to be 100% loyal to me and enslave my enemies, the control devil's power is mandatory.
[Who are you? Please state your identity] she expressed in a calm tone of voice.
As expected of a manipulator, she kept her cool even though an unknown voice had abruptly approached her.
[My identity isn't really important but you can call me Uncle H for now. And if I'm contacting you, Madame Makima or should I say Madame Control Devil, it's for business]
With a manipulator like Makima, it's better to give little information and get straight to the point.
Even if I'm not as stupid as Denji, I wouldn't risk overestimating myself by dealing with Makima casually.
[Mr. H, I understand you know my identity but are you sure you want to blackmail me?] Although her voice seems calm, I can tell she's irritated.
[I just wanted to clearly define who has the advantage in this conversation and not threaten you. After all, I came to do business with you] I replied.
I have no desire to make Makima my enemy, at least for now. I would have preferred Denji to be able to kill her already since it would be simpler to deal with Nayuta, but I don't really have time for that.
[All this time, you mentioned wanting to do business with me knowing my true identity which in my opinion is stupid but fine. What business do you have to propose, Mr. H?] she asked, still with the same calm, steady voice that never seems to fluctuate.
[I can offer you two things in exchange for making a contract with me so I have free access to all your powers and perhaps more. I'm sure you wouldn't refuse]
[And what are these two things that give you so much confidence?] This time her voice sounded different, there was less of that monotone tone and a little more anticipation.
It seems she's interested so for now everything is going well.
[I know where Chainsaw Man is and I also know what you really want and it's not exactly Chainsaw Man. I think I can provide it to you.]
After my words, there was a long silence but I could clearly hear Makima's breathing and heartbeat accelerate.
Author's Note: The protagonist has finally found a subordinate who knows Nen so expect to soon see his Nen (hatsu) and YES a potential waifu has appeared, the control devil Makima!
If you're not aware of her power, I invite you to check the Chainsaw Man wiki. But in summary, Makima's power allows her to do the same thing as the protagonist to humans and demons (so she also makes contracts), but the thing is Makima can impose a contract on a demon or human. So you can guess her contracts are rarely fair for the target, right? 🤣
The only restriction on her imposing contracts is that she must consider the target inferior to herself. So yes, it's an abusive power 💀 (And if she considers you her equal or superior, she can still impose a contract on you if she beats you in combat).
